Try checking your local craft store for wooden beads. They should come in enough sizes to find one you'll be happy with plus they're pretty light so they shouldn't weigh down your wig too much.

To add them, you could thread a strand of hair through the bead then tie a thick hair tie to where you would like it to sit, then wiggle the bead back over the hair tie. If you have trouble keeping it in place you can take a couple small pieces of clear tape or put a thin bead of glue around the edges of the top hole so it rests on the hair tie.

Thanks on the buttons, they're actually a vinyl banner with a grid setup so I can make them on spot.

Also I can understand the mochi a bit. When I first started making them I didn't just want to make a straight replica from the comic. The rest ended up in the same style as it was somewhat fast to appliqué. At least my patterning skills have gotten better since these pictures were taken.

That would be me, I sell them on etsy under StudioKitsu and there are a bunch up there now, or I can do color commissions. They're $30 which I sized the plush based on what I thought would be appropriate for $30. So they're pretty big and I cast the eyes so they have little stars an glitter in them.

For anyone asking about grid cubes, I need roughly 1 and a half boxes or so for my usual setup. But you can also use the grid pieces for shelves on the backside.

Love it! Also love that you're going with the original design. How are you doing the lace designs on her leg warmers?

Normally would just let things go since not my department but, the current heads, and even the head last year, are really working their asses off this year. Hope some kind of answer to some concerns will help lessen the frustration some of you guys feel.

Her dismissal was the result of a few different issues involving her, the CTC thing was just the straw breaking the camel's back. Her signature was as AnimeNEXT AA head and she created a thread on the AnimeNEXT forums specifically to rant about CTC. By doing both she wasn't speaking as Inyx head of (insert her studio name here), was speaking as Inyx head of AnimeNEXT's AA using whatever authority that carries. She also was great with artists but pretty rough to work with on the back end. Pretty sure any chance of her coming back (if she even wanted to) was shot to hell after a few staff members (including myself) witnessed her and the artist she commonly sells with get in Michael's face during set up.

The delay is somewhat of a couple issues compounding into a giant disaster. For a convention, to change something like and AA or DR it isn't just shuffling tables. There's a back and forth between the the con. Fortunately or not, the fire marshalls for that area take their job very seriously and will heavily scrutinize the layouts. It means the results are going to be %100 to code but it means its an additional delay in getting things done. As corny as it sounds, Sandy really did throw a wrench in plans just by delaying the entire process by a few months to where this is now happening.

As far as I'm aware, people who were stuck behind pillars were given refunds or partial refunds.

Pony stuff in general isn't really as insanely popular as it was last summer at anime conventions but there are still fans who will consistently drop money on items from it still.

To be honest, you don't need to have them made beforehand unless you plan on taking commissions at con.

My usual setup is to have all of my circles cut for buttons but I actually press them at con when ordered. That said the majority of my items are made before con with maybe minor finishing work to do so if you're planning to do something else as well it is a good idea to have them ready in advance.

Search ebay for 100 dust plug. It should be in the $3 range total. Also, having bought a bunch of them I will tell you the silver ones are absolute garbage that will get stuck in your phone. The other ones pictured are alright but also can have a bit of a tight fit.

$25 is a pretty good starting point depending on the finished size. Worst case if crowd reaction isn't great you could lower it.

Personally when I'm making something for the first time and am unsure of how it will go I will make anywhere between 3-12 of that item then gauge how many sell through the weekend to determine if I'll make more. They may not all sell but depending on the size and price I set I can still work out if its an item that will do well enough at future events.

Most of what I sell at cons is plushes. Do you have any examples of your work, plus size and possible pricing? It'll be easier to figure out with more details.

It depends on how many things you have in your etsy. If its a couple dozen then sure, if only a handful then you'll probably need to suppliment with other examples of work.

>>6617221
It really depends on the show, and what you get with your space. Also the show could be working from a craft show perspective which are often times a lot more expensive then your average anime convention.

Not necessarily, most AA rules have policies again direct trademark and intellectual property infringement. That said its a question of what the rules are and if they're actually enforced. Still you should really do a mix of items original and not.

Getting things started with a new plush I made for Katsucon. I usually make octopussen for my TravelingOctopus.tumblr.com blog but have been kicking around character influenced designs for months now. Finally just took the time to actually get the first design done.

Can't decide if I'm more excited for how it came out or that I actually have something finished to post on here. Normally its just piles of fabric or partially completed items that don't really show what they're meant to look like.

I can't decide if I'm more excited to finally have enough time to do the first of a bunch of character octopussen designs I've been kicking around or that I actually have something done and am able to post them! Usually its piles of cut and uncut fabric in various stages of assembly.

Keep in mind its always easier to go down in price then up in price at a convention. New artists by nature over value or under value their artwork and considering your prices you're doing the later. Don't be afraid to set your prices higher than you think its worth early in the weekend. Then if a few hours in and very little is selling and you're getting a lot of negative reactions then lower them little by little and try to find your sweet spot in price.

Also consider doing a combo deal as well like I sell buttons at 1-$2 and 3-$5. Its a helpful way to push sales on items that aren't your top sellers.

Thrilled to see someone else who works with munnys as a medium. As you know they're a ton of fun to work with.

Now as for selling them, I used to bring a couple of my customs with me to cons to help fill some space and to display them. While doing so I got a ton of offers which I ended up turning down since customizing toys is purely a hobby. That said, there were a surprising number of people who weren't completely turned off to my potential prices when I tossed out $350-$500 for some of mine. It just depends on how detailed they are and how understanding they are of how long it took you. The ones in that price range that I had took somewhere around 50-60 hours over a couple months.

Lets be realistic here. What will happen is his girlfriend will make a post on one of her social media sites, likely tumblr, to "inform people of bootlegs" and you will be harassed to no end by the more rabid of homestuck fans. Then a couple hours later she'll make some kind of post asking the fans to not attack you knowing fully well that its too late.

Also forgot to add, its usually somewhat easy for a convention to determine if items are bootleg or not. There are a number of different methods used but the most common are through comparison with booths that are well known to strictly carry only official items and knowing what common bootleg items are. Also scrutinizing the tags and packaging is an easy way to tell them apart since even authentic Japanese packaging has a higher quality in materials in print quality than 3rd party knock offs, plus many knock offs don't carry many of the small bits of retail information that are on authentic items.

>> No.6542000 [View]

Bootlegging is selling something under the false pretenses that its released by the original company. So if its a recreation of an item that is produced officially or is being labeled as if from the original company it would be considered bootlegging. Anything else falls more under copyright infringement.

Yep! Its easy to run the risk of overdoing it event wise, something not too fun.

Also you can get folding mini dolly's at Home Depot or Lowes for like $30. I believe they can hold up to 150lbs which is more than enough for 2 boxes of griding and a few boxes of prints. There is also different types of those cubes, I know some dealers out here have been using these cube sets that have a wire frame and plastic inside. Might be easier on weight for you.

Depends on the printing method. Each method of printing (inkjet, laser or printing press) could have one of a couple dozen different problems causing it. If its that common then your printing place should already be aware of it and should be willing to do something like print extras so you're not shorted on prints.

That would also be me!

At the moment I have 3 Octopussen leftover from the fall con season. They're currently up in my etsy store. http://www.etsy.com/shop/StudioKitsu

If you're looking for a specific color combination you can email me. I'll have more designs up by mid January after Magfest.

Also if you're using a fabric with a stretch to it, like fleece, pin your pieces until you're comfortable with controlling it. And read your manual, especially the section covering the different stitches your machine can do. I use an extra 3-4 stitches for things somewhat regularly I never would have known about had I not leafed through it.
