The D3100 is a pretty fantastic camera to start off with. It's simple enough to use from the get-go and has plenty of options to adjust when you start learning more about it. I use one and it gets some good pictures, especially in low light after some fiddling.

Hah, no. I doubt they'd let you have it in your hand-luggage, but you might be able to put it in your hold luggage. I'd recommend airmailing it over a few weeks beforehand to a friend so you still have suitcase space, that's what I'm doing with one of my props.

Don't forget to apply for an ESTA well in advance before you travel there, otherwise they'll turn you back at immigration. Make sure you get it sorted when you book your flights.

Also I hear it's usually super hot around that time so don't wear anything too heavy and have water on you.

Hah, let's not go there. Just saying, he knew quite a bit about what he had in his stock and gave some recommendations to people that came up based on what series they were looking for, so it was pretty obvious he knew his stuff.

And yeah, shitloads of fakes get sold at these places, but that happens everywhere. It can get quite tricky trying to spot fake merch, they can hide it rather well.

Oh god Swedish chocolate is so god-tier
Hershey chocolate is pretty terrible, so I try and send some Cadburys to people overseas and it's generally well favoured. Canada seems to stock it in places too but it tastes a little off.

I've never taken food to cons so I usually live off Subway or whatever fast-food places they have around, and also eat out at a restaurant for one of the nights. If it's a hotel though it's usually better to order from there, even if it is a little expensive.

Kitacon and Amecon were kind enough to provide free breakfast though which was good (aka 'stack as much bacon on the plate as you can to feed you for the rest of the day').

PlayExpo happens every now and again (but it's rather a gaming event rather than anime/manga). MCM Midlands takes place in Telford and isn't too far away too.
