I was going to go to PAX but then I got a full time job and my days off at mondays and tuesdays BONUS we're having our first labor day weekend sale this year so no time off for me :))))))

If I do get that Monday off, I might try to go to the con...? Basically just to say hi to people and throw money at SuperOrange.

I thought the Otakon one was pretty well run (I think I went to the one on the 2nd day), mostly because there were like 3 people running it. It dragged on tho, but that's just how it goes.

Unless the meet is run by 2-3 people who know what they're doing, it turns into a lot of standing around in a big group, being in the way, 14 year olds trying to be funny, people trying to ironically talk about memes, etc etc etc.
There's just so many characters and variations that meets also tend to take a long time to get everyones pictures, not including pairings or other group shots.

Then again everyone is usually pretty nice and I get to chat with some interesting people.

I adore the cardigan, I'm just sad it got a little bit stretched out lengthwise after I hung it to dry (because I'm stupid and hung it). The fit and drape and all that is so good... It's super comfy too!

I got it in the cream color. I was especially excited because I'm a fatty and was worried Taobao cardigans would be too small, but this one fits really well!

I cut them and then tried to hairspray them into sections, it's hard to see in the pic. It didn't work too well, but this was kind of the "test run" of the costume so I'm going to fix it before the next time I wear it.
(I also have a super super short forehead and really dark roots so separating bangs as much as hers looks awful on me)

Ok here is a badly cropped and too-dark pic of it together. I decided to cosplay Mirai too close to the con to buy anything from taobao (I had gotten the wig way in advance to see if I still felt like cosplaying her) so that's why I turned to the cardigan at Forever 21.

For my next con I'm definitely gonna try to tease the shit out of the wig, it has volume when I fluff it on the wighead but then like 10 minutes of being on my head makes it go flat ugh.

Wow putting on my trip for the first time in forever, because this is the point where I might selfpost.
I used this cardigan, and I dyed it. I used a combo of pink and tan RIT dye and then put it in the washing machine. It came out a pretty much perfect color, I was so happy!
The drape is really perfect, that's why I got it too. I agree tho, I wish it had the collar. I'm so torn about it haha.

If you want I can pull up a pic of my costume, or at least take a pic of the cardigan itself to show you how the color turned out.

I love F21 lashes, but the stores near me don't sell them much anymore. Target, Rite Aid, Walmart, etc have good brands, the Katy Perry lashes look a lot like Japanese ones. Ulta sells them too if you have one near you.

I think every drugstore sells lash glue? I like Revlon's lash glue personally, it's super cheap too.

I used to own a purple-black fusion wig from EpicCosplay, the color was really nice. I used it for Yamada Aoi from WORKING!!, who has a similar hair color as Mikan, and the color was perfect.

I've had a Leia wig from Arda before, and tbh it's one of the worst wigs I've ever owned. This was a while ago, but I feel like Arda's wigs aren't always up to the same standards and aren't worth the price.

That said, the mahogany color is really nice, and I know their fibers take heat styling well.

I think I may as well try with the one I have now, but if it just won't work out right then I'll go for the Leia.

My only worry about backcombing is that because the braids are so heavy, I worry that they'll just weigh it down and flatten again. I really need to wash it out, and, for whatever reason, no matter how many time i style the bangs, they fall out. I think starting over and restyling them entirely will help.

Additionally, I've always been on the fence between keeping the bangs accurate or making them frame my face. I have a weak jawline, so wigs that frame my face are infinitely more flattering for me, but the pic included is from her official reference. How would I go about mixing the two?

Also, somewhat unrelated--It's really bizarre to see DR take off at conventions. I remember the first time my friends and I cosplayed DR was in January and literally 3 people recognized us the entire con. Now I can't go ten feet without seeing an Asahina or Naegi, it's really strange!

I've been cosplaying Fukawa for quite some time now, and I've been trying to improve the costume but I feel like I'm at a standstill. Can you help me out, /cgl/?
(The pic included isn't the best but it's the most recent)

Current plans:
-Lose weight (not joking; I feel dumpy in the costume).
-Do something with the wig? I need to add some volume to the top, which is a bit difficult because the braids are heavy. I'm thinking possibly getting some wefts to add to the top and then hiding the ends in the tops of the braids?
-Fix the sailor collar because holy shit I cannot get that right for some reason. Fixing the tie goes along with that.
-Do something about the scissors/tongue for Syo, although I might just drop them since everyone does her stuff now.

Anything else?

went to otakon. had a cool time. mostly hung out with my gf, it was my first east coast con so it was interesting to see how it differed from west coast ones.

ran into vic in the airport which was pretty funny
