The whole point of that whole "vaginas are so beautiful they can be used as ornamentation" thing is empowerment and body positivity (genital positivity?), so a big part of that is also praising the "normal" or "real" looking vaginas that most people probably have, and not just the ideal cute little pale 'n pink innie.

Probably because college art students =/= actual artists who get selected to showcase their work in galleries, let alone get their work bought into collections by the curators.

People often do shit work at college (at first, at least) because they're young and a bit naive while also being overly passionate and thinking their stuff is GROUNDBREAKING. They're just starting out and lack the experience to realise this shit has been done thousands of times before and your "new" and "revolutionary" concept is actually literally over a century old and very famous, which is why you thought of it. Art student art is very often a bit, uh. Heavy-handed? Copying already-famous stuff, themes, styles, and thinking it's all SO IMPORTANT. Of course sometimes there's really great stuff too, and the passion and self-confidence is important and can translate to something truly fresh, and everyone learns by copying and absorbing ideas and working it into something new, but still.

A lot of artists, especially women who are inclined towards activism or feminism, go through a vagina/period art phase. However that theme has been sorta done to death in decades past, esp in the 60s and 70s when women's lib really was revolutionary and current, and it's really difficult to work on those themes now in a way that'd be interesting and original. Just creating pussy sculptures or paintings or smearing period blood on something because MENSTRUATION isn't interesting any more, it's just lazy and unimaginative and trying to cover up your lack of creativity with shock value and regurgitating old ideas. So a lot of curators and gallerists aren't interested, and you have to approach things differently to get visibility if you want to do feminist art.

If you're asking why there are more visible penises than spread-out vulvas on display in museums, it's probably due to historical attitudes (partly based on antiquity), where men were nude because sports and art and Spartans rah rah and Ancient Greece and all that while women, while also nude or clad in a translucent shroud or whatnot, were nevertheless kinda coyly posed. Also due to physiology, if you just stand there, the male genitals are kinda more obviously there, they don't need to spread their legs for an unobstructed view.

However there's been plenty of nude women in art throughout history, also with their genitals shown. Possibly these pictures just haven't been chosen for exhibitions because oh my, female genitals.

I don't think there are reliable statistics on what type of labia is the most common one, sadly. There's a lot of variation, just like when it comes to breast or nipple size or shape, and somehow I don't quite buy that the majority of all women have perfect and cute wrinkle-free puffy soft labias.

While a larger flappy labia possibly isn't the vast majority either, the reason for trying to present them as the norm is probably body positivity or something, idk. Like, the people who have the ideal thing are already satisfied with the way they are, and presenting the cute ideal as the normal thing suggests that deviating from that means you're flawed.
