Was at Dead Dog, Kihara actually came in and was amazingly chill, he really enjoyed being here. There were multiple times I wanted to rage-quit during the con; Kihara reminded me why I keep doing this.

Oh yeah, and someone made a bet that if we beat the attendance figures from last year, he would shave his head. That was the highlight of the evening.

Visiting the US from a small European country, this was my first anime con. It was pretty cool. My favorite panels were Kihara's one on Friday and the shoujo/josei thing.

The Henley Park hotel was garbage. Faulty wiring, air con was either 50 or 80 degrees and it changed on its own, tv was staticy as fuck, our shower had no hot water or warm last night, randomly would go to ice cold water in the middle of a hot shower, the elevators smelled like hobo piss, we had no mini fridge even though we paid for a room with one, and the staff was hella unfriendly. Oh, and they left our cars lights on in the garage and drained the battery. :^)

I had a lot of fun. Been attending cons since 2011, and this was definitely one of the more memorable. Went to the Distant Worlds concert on Friday, and met Nobutoshi Canna on Saturday.

Was also able to do some sightseeing before the con, and am glad that the rally ended up being a non-issue.

Looking forward to attending next year, but not so thrilled at it being at the end of July. Has there been on any word on why it was moved up?

The Yugioh shoot was really fun last year but the locations were lacking and the light quality was real real bad for both. Only thing I miss about Baltimore.

ALSO: did anybody notice the staff/security powertripping a lot more this year than usual? They would just like randomly tell certain people (my friend) that he had to go get a prop check even though he didn't have a prop at the one entrance. One of the badge-checkers at the dealer room sunday was like "WE WILL NOT BE CHECKING BADGES ATTACHED TO YOUR HIP" like, okay? No one is stopping long enough to show you anyway. I got literally shoved into place Japanese-subway-pusher style by a staff member in one of the hallways at a shoot because there were too many people for the very small space. Like. Congrats on being an ass, I'm just going to move back out into the hallway and keep being a fire hazard cause this was a bad place to have a photoshoot.
I don't usually have a problem with obeying like... basic safety or being a team player but it was lots of volunteers and paid people really just giving orders to give orders for no reason arbitrarily that you could easily ignore with zero consequence for anyone. I'm glad I was in a good mood this weekend or that would have been difficult to deal with.

I felt that some of the staff were pretty incompetent, even by con standards.

When I got out of the Distant Worlds concert and went to get on the merch line, the section of the line I was on extended past the exit line, so they had to move us (which I get, it's a huge hazard).

Instead of moving us to the same section of the hall, they made us walk to the opposite corner of the floor. Then after about ten minutes they brought us back to where we were originally, and the staff was like "don't ask why we didn't do this in the first place haha."

The next worst part was with the entrance to the con through the underground Marriot passage. At one point there were a lot of people coming through the escalator, but the line to get through bag check was slow. People were being brought up to the escalator and couldn't move out of the way quick enough for the ones coming behind them. It was honestly terrifying for a second. They should have stopped people from getting on the escalator while they cleared the bag check line.
