Have we noticed the bs happening with Patreon? If you use it for cosplay/art projects.

Apparently they switched their banking system and some Patrons are coming up as "fraud" payments, and they're getting declined. My one friend lost 1,500 overnight.
I personally lost about 200 ish.

There's a lot of factors that go into it. Construct an engaging, well-thought out story, and then disguise it as a smut piece. Great stories are so abundant these days that you don't have to look hard to find them, while many people are compelled to search for smut several times a week—and then pleasantly surprised to be drawn into an excellent story along the way.

Network your writing on multiple erotica sites, release new material semi-regularly, so that you always have presence in "recent updates" section that people check when they visit, or better yet toplists, if you can manage it.

Ensure that all of the sites point to and link towards your Patreon, make sure you have something exclusive there to make them want to support you as a patron. More prolific writers release their chapters immediately to their patrons, and then trickle them out to erotica sites weeks later. I have bonus side-story chapters and update my chapter-in-progress.

Right now my high-tiered incentive is the option to submit a character for me to include in the upcoming side-stories, that's been a popular option.

And, since my erotica is based in an anime convention, there's always room for interesting things to happen and absurd characters to be introduced.

I've used con funk as a plot device, and wardrobe malfunctions as fan service. I have an SJW trying to sabotage her ex-boyfriend as an antagonist, and a girl being introduced to gothic lolita fashion through an outfit that was meant for someone else.

My $50 Patron is no longer getting declined by his bank, so I'm now doing better than average, $511/month.

I'm honestly thrilled to be making ANY money on an unfinished story. Back in the day I'd thought maybe I'd finish a novel and publish it someday and THEN get money, but with Patreon it's like I'm making a decent wage actually writing it IN ADDITION to what I'll make selling it through Amazon or Kindle when it's finished.

I've had that old Vash coat called a lot of terrible things, but never "purchased." It's one of Walmart's "western duster" patterns sewn together with a combination of bad stitches, velcro, and in its last incarnation, functional buttons, all taken apart and put back together two or three times over the years. If you're going to mock something about it, go with the shoulder pads I took out because they wouldn't sit right, or the abysmal lack of anything resembling thigh-high Vash boots.

On a related note I have a question about what to put behind a paywall on patreon.
I want to start taking notes and writing my process down for each cosplay, because this will help me learn from my mistakes and have my own references for future projects. Would it be okay to compile this information into documents and tutorials that would be available for cheap tiers ($1 or $5)? I understand this information is readily available for free if one researches it but I think my labor of doing my own research, my own trial and error, and then organizing and editing my notes on my process into comprehensive documents is deserving of financial compensation. Arguably as much as erotic cosplay photos at least.

Recently dropped Patreon over all the payment nonsense and switched over to having my own website with a membership type service.
