How do you get the courage to wear this stuff? ??

Put it on
Take a shot of whiskey
Go out the door and not give a fuck about others opinions.

If you like it enough, you just do it. No other clothes make me feel the way wearing lolita makes me feel. When I walk out the door wearing it I feel like I'm a goddess who owns the world. Everything else is secondary to that feeling.

A ton of cash, I hope. That's some fugly cheap-looking dress. Hope the model got paid up front cos I sure ain't buying that, whatever that is. I'll stick to my nice-looking quality Japanese brands, thanks.

If this is your mentality then alt fashion just isn't for you. Stick to your normie clothes and appreciate the fashion from a distance, because not giving a fuck is a huge part of wearing lolita and other alternative styles.

What a terrible idea. Those brands and styles are nearly polar opposites, not to mention that the measurements between these brands are also wildly different; someone who fits on AP won't necessarily fit MM.

Seriously? AP also releases solids, some of them are very toned down and easy to wear too. You don't sound like a lolita, please don't comment on things you don't know anything about.

>> No.9953370

I'm gonna give this a serious response, I don't care if it's bait. I struggle with anxiety and the concept of people singling me out, so starting to wear lolita was absolutely terrifying for me.
My style isn't toned down, exactly, and as a newbie I went for the dresses that I wanted, rather than ones that would be easy to wear, so you can see why it'd be terrifying for me to wear them out.

HOWEVER you just have to feel the fear and do it anyway. If someone says you look like an idiot, yeah, you do! But you're a well-dressed idiot.
If someone says 'what the fuck is that' while you pass them on the street, remind yourself that they're not used to seeing such an amazing sight.
If someone takes a photo of you, find what works for you. I like to flip people off, but I know that's not everyone's style.

Basically you have to adopt the attitude of 'if it makes you happy, do it'. And then, do it.

Anon, the more you wear it--the more normal feeling it becomes. I have been a lonelita for a couple months now and it gets easier. Just be brave and not care what others think! You can do it!
its funny how bland everyone looks once you start wearing lolita.

standing out is one of my favorite things to do so it's no deal for me to go out in a full coord.
I am a t-shirt and underwear bum in my house and wear lolita outdoors. To me, it's supposed to be worn in public and seen.
I have met so many people I'd never expect to know about Fruits or jfash and it really brings me extra joy to find my people that way lol

Nayrt but they were just posting examples of brands that have a wider range of toned down, ‘normie’ acceptable clothing. So maybe pull the stick out of your ass?

>> No.9953433

>>9953428
Not sure what you're talking about because AP is equally varied in design, and it doesn't make sense to tell someone to start with classic and then move on to sweet. If anything, advising anon to start with solids and simple prints before moving on to OTT, if they're so inclined, makes a lot more sense.

I wear all those brands, why is the whole cohesive thing such a fucking meme? If you fit into MM, it's true AP can often be big, but if you aren't an ana-chan it's fine

>> No.9953557

My solid AP pieces are a lot less casual looking than my solid IW pieces. The latter could pass for fancy vintage or normie wear but there's no way in hell any of my AP could do that.

>> No.9953597

In high school i was really insecure about it but i made an effort to wear it everyday. For a bit I stopped (like 3 years) and I regret that quit.I was so depressed, and I really think if i was just myself and not such a coward i would have been happy. Now i wear it whenever i can, it makes me happy, every day is a bit more exciting.

If you need to ask this you're not supposed to wear lolita, stay with your normie clothing

>> No.9954235

>>9953090
Start with Replica clothes until you know what you're doing to save money. Experiment a lot and post everything you wear to cof. Eventually you'll stop being ita after you get a lot of mean comments and criticism. And make sure, this step is very important, to join a comm in the neighboring city not your hometown.

Then when you are ready to graduate to buying real brand, show up at your local comm.

as long as youre not tall, fat, ugly, etc it looks cute and if you live somewhere that has a few more alternative people, you'll get more compliments than harassment. i dont see why it would be too scary
