Let me tell you a story of dumbassery and redemption, gulls
>go to party in beloved velvet dress, get drunk, spill shit on it
> rinse it off and resume partying
>get home, take dress off, throw it in hamper because too drunk to make good decisions
>wake up in the morning, velvet looks like shit
>ohno.jpg
>look it up on the internet
>"you done crushed the pile, you fucked now"
>after I've washed the dress (yes, I handwash velvet, I've washed this particular dress before and it's been fine) I hang it up and try to softcore steam with iron as recommended on the internet
>it does absolutely jack shit
>cry forever but keep dress even though it's unwearable
BUT THEN
>get steamer for birthday
>apprehensively try it on dress, using the brush attachment to try to brush the pile back
>holy shit it's working
It still doesn't look as good as it did before, and I suspect it never will, but it's actually wearable now and looks so much better after just 10 minutes of steaming it. I can't believe I didn't get one of these earlier.
TL;DR: I'm a dumbass who doesn't take good enough care of her dresses but it worked out in the end thanks to the magic of steamers
