Just wanted to put this out there to warn any other commissioners or cosplay contest directors/runners out there. This guy goes by Nara and has been claiming the work of others as his own and trying to compete in contests for awhile now. Hes already been blacklisted from Supercon events for these antics in the past, but at the recent show he was at it again.

After delivery he wears it around the show and slowly figures out from the goss online that the Supercon staff and alot of attendees are already wise to his game. At that point start making dubious claims about passing out. Gee wearing a full creature suit in the Florida summer heat might have something to do with that. Also begins threatening to sue, contact paypal and all number of threats.

The con is run by a pair of assholes who are more into stroking their egos and throwing booze and sex parties. Two of the performers from the dance are on a fetish website posing naked and trolling for sex partners. Party pics get posted every so often.

I'm just happy we didn't get harassed by their creepy security staff again this year. Being surrounded by a group of guys in kilts who reek of beer and pot repeatedly demanding to see my badge was really shitty and weird. I know others weren't so lucky and saw at least two people getting kicked out.

We're skipping next year. It's too expensive and we really didn't have as much fun as AFO and Matsuri. Does anyone know if Ancient City is any good?

It looked like she was trying too hard to try to cater to one of the judges’ style of costuming. Obviously she didn’t meet the judges standards so she started crying after the costume contest. I don't think she realizes that using these speciality fabrics and lights when the reference doesn't call for it actually deducts from her overall score.
Now the Rin that won BiS, she did a sparkly fabric that does go with the reference because it isn't in your face flashy, it complimented the overall cosplay.
I know it's no hope but I wish Doki would just stop. She/her mom are wasting a lot of money on over the top materials.

Even if she took away the lights and used appropriate fabric, her fit issues are atrocious, she can't seem to follow a reference picture and her sewing execution and wig styling is super sloppy. Besides the cynics who will never enjoy conventions, I can tell you it's very cozy and nice. People have different tastes for what size of con they prefer, and I usually stick to the smaller end. This is that kind of con. There's plenty to do if you like attending panels, which no one on this board seems to like doing, and if you have side interests like tabletop gaming it can be fun (I play Pokemon TCG). The concerts in the evening are cool, and the game room is nice to meet people in over you fave games. I didn't have any trouble finding something in the programming to do. Yes, it is snug, but there's a charm to it.

Heads up this guy has continued to claim the Buu suit as his work and has been taking serious heat after the builder called him out on FB publicly. Hes also started a paypal dispute for parts of the payment that weren't past the cutoff deadline for claims totaling a few hundred dollars. Pretty chill con, very very very comfy in terms of cold weather and just how close knit this convention is. Not a small con but had that cozy small con feel, also drinking alcohol is much more chill at Holmat than it is at metro or mega or the like because the 2 cops they have there don’t really give a shit in my experience just don’t walk past them with a handle or open growler of beer and you’re good. Not gonna be as comfy because for the past 3 years Holmat has coincided with the release of the new Star Wars movie and it has always been 12/10 comfy seeing the new Star Wars movie at Disney springs with convention peeps. On the negative side though get ready for people to get butthurt that you don’t recognize “Christmas todoroki” with a red and green wig or other fanfaction tier christmasization of costumes.

Its all in the previous threads but readers digest is this guy has commissioned other peoples work in the past and claimed it as his own. To the point that he was barred from supercon competitions even prior to the Buu suit debacle.

The Buu suit was supposed to be more a joint effort between him and the crafter but he never showed for fittings or to learn the materials as he requested at the start. After the creator delivered the finished suit the guy took it to super and had a tear form under the arm. At this point he also sees all the goss online since his antics are now common knowledge and starts harassing the creator saying things like he passed out in the costume and was going to get authorities involved and all other manner of bs before trying to get paypal to refund all his payments to the suit maker.

Goss continued to build online as the guy kept changing his Insta several times to avoid people calling him out for not crediting the creators of all his costumes. He even went so far as to make vague threats since he works in the medical field. Basically saying better hope you dont show up in my ER.

A few weeks later he puts in the payl claim last minute and the money is frozen. Thanfully the creator had all the pictures of the guys harassment in PMs as well as all the conversations of the original agreement and eventually it was decided in the favor of the creator.

TL:DR dont do business with the guy and if hes competing at your event better make sure to vet him.

Also never accept commissions without a contract.
