My Hero Academia lmao, the fanbase is still very strong. There's a plethora of merch for sure but finding specific merch for some main characters can be difficult. Especially jump festa exclusives oof
I've been just doing a lot of amiami pre-orders since I don't want to risk missing out on something or dealing with the bloodbaths. Scalpers are rampant in this fandom. The second hand market is alright but also has it's share of scalpers and if a listing has a great price you have to be extra quick to get it.
Managed to nab me one of these big boys at a good price, and I'm so happy they still had some since all the other characters are sold out completely.

Luckily I don't have to fight over my grails, but the prices tag people are wanting for them makes me hesitate to buy them in the first place. Two 2016 Jump Fest exclusive can badges, one for $130 and the other for $220. And a large acrylic stand that only came with the first volume release of the Blu-ray set going for $300 last time I checked.

And the few popular character merchs Berseria (or any other tales game for that matter) gets to release as standalone pieces are so ridiculously expensive it makes me rage like crazy. What I did was to trace the plastic canvas to my window's shape, then sewed a pocket fitted to the canvas, and then hand-sewed the top closed. I did it in a way that it's very flush to the canvas so there's not a lot of slack to the fabric.

This is very personal opinion but sure.
Bad- Straight up shitabag, no effort put in and a bandwagoners quick claim at an itabag. No overall theme put in at all and 90% knock off/target merch.
Ok- it’s a fine start, some decor, all one subject and all official merch. Bag looks to be a knockoff but that’s the only drawback. With the correct feedback it could look a lot better and more merch can still be added.
Great- All official merch, an official bag and great set up. More decor could be added if the owner wanted but it’s not needed at all.
To keep it fair these were all taken from the Facebook group and no japanese bags used. Not denying japan doesn’t have shitabags because they definitely do but the western baggers mainly visit here.

I hot glued the fabric right to the plastic canvas and it worked fine. I was afraid the glue would leak through the grid and wouldn't adhere to the fabric, but if you work quickly it's not a problem. Fold the corners of the fabric around the canvas like you're wrapping a present and it stays nice and snug. I made my first ever insert this way a few weeks ago and it worked like a charm.

Just wanted to say this is (usually) called plastic canvas! I had a hell of a time trying to find the actual name of this to ask where to locate it in the craft store. It's also occasionally referred to as knitting or crochet canvas. Hopping on the train to agree it's one of the better/easier things to work with for an insert. I also use it to hold my buttons together to pin on my cork board easier.

Pic related is one of my inserts. I used a layer of foam in between the fabric and canvas just for extra support.

Yeah, that was negligence on my part. I took it out, pulled that side apart, and reglued it. You can reaffix it if you need to. This was the result of my first try, so I was able to look at it and fix it as needed. I was annoyed I couldn't get the insert the exact size of the window because it wouldn't fit in the bag if I did, but that can be hidden.

Here's the start of my first bag. What do you guys think? I have one more charm I need to add but the clasp on it broke so I need to fix it first. Obviously I need some more official merch, the main reason I don't have more is I kept holding back because I wanted to buy whole packs because I really do love every character from this series, but I think to fill my bag I'm gonna have to stick to just Reigen more often in the future. Another reason is I've bought a fair bit of fan merch of other characters because there's just some artists whose stuff I really like(speaking of which, yeah, I'm using some fan merch in my bag, I know that's controversial but no I'm not gonna remove it, I do plan to mostly have official merch eventually but there's a lot of artists' whose stuff I just really like and I think a bit of fan merch gives a bag a nice personalized touch). Oh dear, this conversation reminds me of the one I had just recently with a friend/acquaintance. She was talking about which bag to get and later on she decided to get one of the small yellow heart ones and I found out that WEGO have them for 70% off so I showed it to her and she politely said that she recently “...bought it from aitaikuji, which is the official website for international orders”. Does anyone have tips for getting a rather large acrylic stand to sit still inside an bag? Ive tried the glue dots used for scrapbooking but they haven't held up.

Also the stand I'm using unfortunately has one of those "sealed with acrylic on one side but design is unsealed on the other" kind of finishes. Usually I would just glue a pinback onto the back or something but I dont want to ruin the back design.

I'd say you have your foot in the door, but to keep working on it. I'd suggest straightening the pins and moving the charm to the top of the star. Either remove the string or hang it out of sight. The microfiber cloth is quite big. Try folding it into the top half to make it more square shaped and centering it. If you don't want to pin it, you should look into buying a protector (see the faq). And obviously get some more merch on there. Take a look at the bags posted in this thread for inspo.

I sealed mine using one of those strap covers (you could just use normal clear vinyl and a hair straightener) and then sewed it down with clear thread at the top and bottom. Thing doesn't budge and I don't have to worry about the print being damaged.

Every time I tell myself I really need to buy a bigger bag next time, I end up ordering merch instead. I keep pushing it off because I can always buy a new bag, but merch sniping is time sensitive... but now I'm up to eleven acrylics, six buttons, and two omanju that will not fit in either of my base bags no matter how much reorganizing or layering I try. We are at max capacity. I'm hanging things off the handles unprotected. I am going to have to give in.

Don't go into a sob story because they don't care. And absolutely don't skip out on paying without trying to contact them, that'll definitely get them to ban you. I'm in the same situation as you. My room is full of dolls, video games and anime posters and figures, and lots of cutesy crap, and my dad just looks around confused whenever he comes in.
