Fully agree. Because of the rapid growth of lolita from a brand standpoint over the past decade we lose the DIY spirit and the street fashion roots of lolita. Almost all recent "trends" have been pushed by established brands and not the regular girls out in town wearing it.

I don't particularly love that girl's fashion but I'm glad somebody is still willing to wear their own art and shake things up a bit. It's the same reason why everyone shits their pants over Minori—she DIYs almost all her looks and brings artistry into fashion, and was able to bring the niche shironuri scene to a wider audience.

You can buy thousands of dollars of brand and look great but that just makes you a trend follower. Does this chick hit the mark? i usually hate fat people wearing lolita no matter if it's ita or not. but for some reason she looks so happy, it makes me appreciate the contrast between her whaleness and the fact that her pinks match and she has a consistent theme and her dress fits. i can't hate this. it's flawed for sure, but i can't hate it she looks so happy
