>What does 'saging' mean when it comes to threads?
Thread reaches bump limit and no longer makes it to page 0-1. When a thread reaches bump limit, no matter how many posts are being done it'll inevitably fall to the bottom of page 10.
You can also manually sage your own post if you personally don't want your post to bump the thread, but that's something not many people do nowadays.

A few years ago, someone snatched a dream dress of mine in a really mean and sneaky way. I got so mad and sad at the person that I digged up info about them and found some real good dirt. Then I anonymously sent the evidence to almost all of her comm members and other affected people, which started a chain reaction with people speaking up and making secrets about her. In the end her best friend dumped her ass, the comm kicked her out and she left lolita a few months later, selling the dream dress she once stole from me. I asked for a price reduction since her ugly fatass wore it at least once and no one wanted to buy from her anymore. She agreed and to this day I still feel the sweet victory when wearing it.

So this American girl posts on Rufflechat about weightlifting and lolita. All good if her name wasn't written in kana, the exact kana used for a Japanese birthcontrolpills brand. Considering the woman is from USA according to her profile and and is looking quite white (and katakana is used), I'm near certain she's either not knowing it, or fails to translate better.

How do you politely say she called like herself birthcontrol pills without sounding like bashing? Because I can't get over it anymore and anyone who can read Japanese and has been there or knows the brand another way will see it, might make her look quite stupid unintentionally.

Everything else takes A-line.

You don't really need to trace the shapes in anything. Just know that cupcake petticoats were originally because border prints make rectangle skirts, and because lolita used to be heavily cotton, they looked funny on other petticoats except cupcake-shaped ones.

I was into lolita a few years ago (when I was 18) but only wore gothic because I thought I was too ugly for anything else. Lately I've been missing it and kind of want to get into classic -- is 21 too old to (re-)start?

21 is very, very young. The average age of lolitas is early/mid 20s to early 30s, and that's just the average. Plus imo you're never too old to wear fun clothes.

I'm working hard on losing weight, so I'm not sure if I should keep it and hope I fit it when I'm thinner, or if I should sell it despite it being altered.
I also just don't think it's something I'd ever wear.
I hate to sell it, I feel like because it's altered, nobody will want it. But it feels like a waste just sitting in my closet. I'd price it super cheap. But I'm so torn.. I feel like it'd be a waste of time to sell it, nobody's going to want an altered piece even if it's like brand for 40$.
Do you think someone would buy it if I sold it? It's not like the alteration is major, just seams have been taken out.

I bought a dress that said it went up to 100 cm in the bust. It barely fits my 93 cm bust and gives me seriously bad boobloaf and restricts my breathing. There's no way in hell someone over 90 cm could fit in it comfortably. Why the hell does it say it goes up to 100 cm?

As far as I know they're copied from brand. And I say this because someone once pointed out a strange typo in the waist measurement of a skirt I was selling. The skirt still being on IW site, I looked it up and word for word the typo was there as well.

It's possible for brands to mess up measurements sometimes. If you're in doubt about a dress the usual thing is to post questions to a comm and ask if anyone else owns the dress and can verify the official measurements.

I don't think it's that straightforward. A new green colourway was introduced (this colourway was an exclusive when it was introduced, I don't know if it got re-re-released again). Means another colourway was not re-re-re-released as much as the others. And only one cut was re-released, I think, the other doesn't seem to have been.

So now it sort of boils down to how many rich girls are still looking for a specific cut and colourway that may have been re-released but supply didn't meet demand, or looking for a cut and colourway that didn't get re-released, or looking for a cut and colourway that was only ever an in-store exclusive, and then everything else other than those is sort of floating around retail price because hardly anyone can keep up with how much it's supposed to go for anyway.

It depends on the construction of the dress. Most of the time it's very obvious to tell, pic related, but sometimes it's not quite clear; in the latter case it can be because the specific dress can be worn with either A-line or cupcake pettis.

>>9901300
Probably to attract buyers. If they're supposedly "leaving lolita" then their items could be priced accordingly, i.e. cheaper brand, and they could have many items for sale so it prompts buyers to check out their other listings too. I think that's the logic behind it, anyway. It's definitely sketchy when they keep doing that just to attract buyers, without actually leaving the fashion.

There's not a lot to review. So far as quality goes, it's about as well made as your average stuffed toy from, say, Disney or Seaworld. The fur won't fall out, it's pretty decent and isn't scratchy or bad, but it's not made from unicorn silkworms either. It's not fleamarket-fall-apart tier, but not really heirloom tier either.

Wouldn't know if it's worth the price tag to you. It's a pretty decent stuffed toy but most girls I know get one because they think Usakumya is cute and not so much because it's the highest quality bear.

But how the fuck do you wear brand OPs without dry cleaning them after every single wear??

That's uncommon, at least in my experience. Most lolitas in my comm just air them after a use or two, and then take it to a cleanning center. Unless you sweat in it, having it cleaned after every wear may slowly damage the fabric.

>> No.9904103

It's easier to look up each dress before you buy it and check if it can be hand/machine-washed. Then buy just the machine/hand-washable ones. Now you can wash all your OPs after each wear without needing to dry-clean them.

If you really dig a print but it needs to be dry-cleaned, just buy the jsk of it so you can dry-clean it every 2-3 wears.

I was really into lolita a few years ago and had obtained the little bears cafe pink high waist JSK. I was pretty fat at the time and thought it'd be a good idea to take the shirring out of the back of the dress so it would fit me better. From the outside of the dress there's no visible damage except for the fact that there's no shirring and on the inside you can see the holes I made to remove it. Is it even worth trying to sell in such a state? and if so how much does a damaged dress like that go for? Sorry I haven't been involved with the community in a long time and thought this would be the best place to ask (and if you're wondering yes I do cringe at my past actions)

As for selling it, someone out there will still buy it, it just depends on whether you think the price is worth your effort. Little Bears Cafe wasn't all that popular, so an intact dress would go for maybe $100++, $120 max maybe?. If you can put back the shirring and fix up the damage you can still try for that much. If you're selling it as a damaged piece that other people have to put energy and time into fixing up before it can be worn, then $50 and drop the price if it doesn't sell after a month or two.

Assuming this is the original and not the replica, of course.

>> No.9904766

>>9904752

At $120 people aren't really expecting NWT condition anymore, but people will still use any damage as a bargaining point. Makes more sense to list it at $120, let the bargainers bargain, then drop it to $100 if it doesn't sell, rather than start out at $100 and end up selling at $50.

That's assuming she puts in the effort to get it fixed up. If it were me I'd probably just list the unshirred holey dress at $10 just to get it out of my house and continue with my life.

Dumb question, but I'm new to lolita. A girl online told me about lace market and lolibrary so I've been spending a lot of time looking around and think I finally found my first dream dress (sadly it sold on LM before I could decide....), but all sadness aside, I don't even really understand enough about the fashion to know what... substyle(?) it would be? Help please? Could it be used in different ones? I'm mostly into girly but still goth western goth fashion, I guess, dolly-ish? which is what really drew me to lolita to begin with and absolutely fell in love with this dress, so any tips or info helps!

Metamorphose general makes sweet dresses. This isn't true 100% of the time, but brands often stick to a niche (Baby and Angelic Pretty are generally sweet, while Moitie is general gothic). Unfortunately its hard to define exactly what elements are a part of each substyle, but in this case the thin ribbon bows on the front, the shirring on the bodice, the polka dot pattern and the lace on the bottom all create a sweet look. This dress could also probably be styled in a more classic way, but definitely a sweet dress.

If you're just starting, my best advice is lurk more. Save pictures you like from 4chan, pinterest, instagram and closet of frills and you'll start to be able to see patterns in what you like. Right now you just need to look at as many picture of main pieces and coordinates as you can though.

Good luck anon. Please keep asking questions.

Anon take what gulls say here with a grain of salt- most of us are spoiled by the Japanese market, which many Lacemarket users don't really know about. I had multiple anons say one of my dresses would sell for $90 at the very most, but I managed to sell it for $180- it was a more popular dress than LBC though. Start bidding at around 60 dollars and see what you can get.

Thank you! I've actually noticed that I'm mostly drawn to dresses from this Metamorphose brand, but generally older styles, which seems like it sucks because some of them seem hard to get since they are older. I went to the Metamorphose website and nothing really struck my fancy in terms of dresses, but they had some really cute socks and bloomers. I think I tend to gravitate towards things that look like something an old doll would wear. I have a question however, I like the raschel lace I've been seeing on some of the Dresses (and also on the socks and bloomers in the Metamorphose store) but some of the things I have read about lolita quality seem to say that this type of lace is bad. Just using common sense, I know that there are good and bad qualities to different items, and I'm guessing that this is true about the Metamorphose lace? I obviously have no first hand experience regarding this lace, but it's hard to tell... Just from my experience with western goth dresses being really expensive and having shitty materials, I know that price doesn't necessarily reflect quality.

ANYWAY, are there any places I can go that give better detail shots? I checked youtube for unboxing videos, but all the Metamorphose unboxing seems to be of their current store styled items.

Sorry for rambling and asking a lot, I'm just really new and would really love to get into the fashion on the right start.

Meta's lace is high quality afaik, even their raschel lace. I don't have a similar piece to the one you posted but I do have an OP from 2000 and socks from 2016, both have different kinds of raschel lace and both are good quality.
Remember that guides are usually intended for newbies to tell bad things and good things apart, and while they're very useful they're not set in stone - I.e. some old school lolitas, who like a similar aesthetic to what you're describing, love raschel lace. Just stick to high quality brands rather than eBay or Milanoo crap and you'll be fine.

When I was in Japan last month I picked up the bat umbrella from AatP. Unfortunately it looks like at some point in traveling back, even though I never even used it, the top of the metal tip came off. Pic related, you can see the small seam. So there's a hole up top there.

Personally though, I usually go with solid colored tights since I wear mostly classic (and the only AP/BTSSB I own are solid or striped OPs with no prints). So if you're looking for suggestions for sweet lolita with cutesy prints, I'm afraid I can't help much.
