on the off chance she's reading this for some reason: lower salt intake, more walking, and some compression hosiery would possibly help. if you're not doing those things, you should. if you're already doing all those things and your legs and feet still look like that, then I feel genuinely sorry for you because all that swelling probably feels as painful as it looks.

there's a wide variety of compression legwear out there in terms of size and colour. a pair of thigh high compression stockings could stand in for tights in a coord. if you hunt around you might even find some printed ones that work with certain outfits.

Aesthetics isn't something you can argue anyway. Most people have a gut reaction whether something looks good or not. All you can really do is pick apart why it looks bad and then make sure not to repeat those mistakes. What are you gonna do, post every picture with some long detailed explanation that it's fat and not ita? Guarantee that's going to make it onto lolcow as being worse than just badly dressed.

makeup takes time to practice and get good at for your particular face. I grew up in a super conservative religious home and couldn't get my hands on make until college. I'm only just now decent at it because of my practice with lolita. as a guy, he likely had a similar journey. I believe in him. he just has strong masculine European features. Yes, it's totally okay to wear what you like, but you have to accept that there will be obstacles when it comes to looking good if you are different. Wearing sweet as a girl is easier, but as a guy, who looks like a guy, you're going to end up looking creepy, and make everyone around you look creepy. Perhaps if he went for darker blue tones and tights, as well as..well, makeup practice, he would look much better.

As i said in the post, you should wear what's flattering for you, not only because other people think you look good, but also because you will feel better in it too. I've tried different styles and looked and felt uncomfortable, I just find something that looks good for me. Having a large bust make wearing certain styles look awkward, but it's not impossible to be lolita and look good like that (also rockabilly/pinup is not even close to lolita imo, why would anyone recommend that?) . What he's wearing in the image is not flattering at all. If you want him to shine and do his best, teach him makeup tips or help him pick out clothes. I've had many friends help me and their advice made me much more confident.
If he likes sweet, he should wear it, but when he posts stuff online (especially in this community) he has to be ready to get posted here and/or mocked. The lolita community is catty. I hope he improves too, i just think he'd look a lot better in something else, and should invest in more off brand or longer brand dresses that suit him. Rather than telling him that he should wear what he likes, it's better for him to learn how to dress in ways that are flattering.

I think people stopped posting con photos because it's harder to tell which ones are actually trying for lolita, and which ones are cosplays. A lot of "lolita" characters are so badly designed they're completely fucking ugly even if you do everything right, because the original design is just stupidly fucking ugly in the first place.

The square bodice is a thing that tends to happen to big girls with JSKs, especially if it's a structured bodice, which it should be. The biggest problem with this bodice that's making it look extra square is that it's too long for her--the waist should be about an inch higher and then it would look normal. Honestly, I don't think it's altered at all, or only the sheering is removed. The body is exact the same beside that the breast are so much too big that it runs up making it empire. The skirt has no extra space added, and looks like it just falls over her hips to have a very small A-line afterwards.
