Going to have to disagree with the last statement. Anime merch are novelty items, usually in limited distribution and production. Depending on how the buyer purchased it, you have to add various fees and shipping. I'm not saying it's right to sell some recent standard release item for 2x the price, but there's nothing wrong to want to compensate the numerous fees and shipping money, especially if they're in good condition.

Okay, I actually have a lot of questions and I'm curious of your answers as the facebook group doesn't allow much freedom for these questions.

1) How do you feel about "everything I love" bags? (i.e. no theme bags)

2)Is there ever an instance where bootlegs are okay? Like if the franchise is too old or the bag is sold out?

3) Does it annoy you when people say WEGO invented itabags?

4) How do you feel about ship bags?

5) If poorly dressed Lolitas are called Itas, what are people who make poor bags called?

1) lazy. They look and feel lazy and lack the cohesiveness that makes most bags attractive or conversation worthy.
2)Not really no. If a bag you want is sold out, find another or make your own? There are tutorials and resources everywhere.
3)That's dumb but I wouldn't throw a giddy fit over it.
4) I mean OTB for the OTP, why not?
5)Shitabags. Or Casuals. Whichever rolls off the tongue first.

>>9895692
>1) How do you feel about "everything I love" bags? (i.e. no theme bags)
99% of the time is them wanting to join the bandwagon, not having enough merch to fill out their bag right at that moment, and are usually looking for instant validation and asspats to look cool. Trust me. If you put zero effort into a bag, people can tell.

>2)Is there ever an instance where bootlegs are okay? Like if the franchise is too old or the bag is sold out?
It is never okay. Sold out? Maybe wait a while and hope another one pops up on on a second hand market. Too old? Maybe make something yourself? There's plenty of people who've made dedicated shrines out of nothing.

>3) Does it annoy you when people say WEGO invented itabags?
Not really, but I can see why some people would get huffy about it.

>4) How do you feel about ship bags?
Considering my main bags are ship bags..

>>9895692
1) I'm considering one for casual situations but for all intent and purpose they are not itabags and do not belong in the community.
2) Hard no. Either find something similar or come up with something else. Bootlegs can kill the legitimate producers of a product, especially in a niche market like this.
3) I don't see this much but I would just shrug and move on.
4) I have a ship bag so I'm in favour of it. There's nothing wrong about bagging something you're passionate about, but my reaction towards a ship bag varies depending on the ship (but this also extends to series).
5) Shitabaggers?

I admire the dedication but I feel like their thought process while buying their merch was "Ooh, shiny!" and when they received them, they had no idea what to do with it but into the bag it goes. People don't really coord their outfits with their itabags (there's exceptions).

I don't either, it's just a preference I have personally, and people are free to have them if they like them, more power to them.
What I was getting at is that in my opinion mixed theme itabags can be a thing, it's way more casual but it's still a bag dedicated to what you love, I don't see what's wrong.
It might be harder to design it so the colors don't clash and look messy, but it's doable and can look okay. Besides where would a person even go to discuss it if they wanted to make one? I see it as a separation that doesn't need to happen, in my opinion.
I brought up duplicatebags as an example mostly to say that I think picking up specific merch to make it look cohesive even if it's not of the same theme, spending time decorating it in a way that looks actually good, is just as dedicated as looking for sets etc, it's just expressed in a different way.

Diarmuid husbando anon here. I was hoping you'd post up a pic of your bag while I was still hanging out here. Thanks for it! I really like the charms you managed to get. You even got two of those anniversary formal wear charms. I wanted to get the charm but it's really hard to find it sold alone so I settled for the anniversary's pamphlet which has the same image. Haha, cute boar! Now I can see what you used. Are you going to keep getting more Dia merch and making new bags or just upgrading this bag and getting a bigger bag later?

So that's what the orange acrylic charm looks like on a dark background. It's cool that because there are clear sections for the background, the character pops out instead of blending in.

Interesting pin color. They blend in great with the background. Are those push pins? Wouldn't they poke out too much through the back if they are?

I think if it's totally unfindable in the wild, then bootlegs are somewhat ok. Just don't point them out or be proud of it. I've been there before and it's not great. Luckily I found the legit version months and months later so I could replace the bootleg.

I don't really know if I'll be making more bags for him! The thought is kind of scary. I guess it depends on what new merchandise comes out? I definitely have plans to upgrade this bag a little more, though.

The anniversary charms I overpaid a little for, but they were up alone on yja and for some reason the thought of having a matching set of such a tiny piece really appealed to me, so I went for it haha.

They...are pushpins. I hadn't found these threads yet when I started making this bag, so I actually went with corkboard for the insert, bc it seemed like the sturdiest and most practical option. The pins do poke out, but I actually have then all jammed into rubber pinbacks so they arent sharp and causing problems. The pins are too narrow for pinback holes, though, so I kind of stabbed them in above the holes so they settle in the handle.

...I've learned my lesson, definitely.

You might've bought one of the lone anniversary charms I passed by a little while ago on YJA, LOL. I was browsing for what new Lancer stuff had come out lately and among all the new FGO goods I saw that old charm.

I can see why people use safety pins instead of pushpins so you don't have to worry about stabbing the inside of your bag. At least for your bag the corkboard backing won't bend!

Has anyone tried doing this for their itabag? Is there any examples out there that do this or even have tiny shakers within their bags? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1urCBDc3jM

When I was looking up info on how to make an itabag I liked watching her reviews and I'm particular about the types of reviewers I watch. Some reviewers go off on tangents which from a purely info-gathering perspective can be annoying depending on what's being discussed.
