PCC/PCF is a little over a week away and no thread.

Finished with your cosplay yet? What are you going as? What’s got your interests this year? What’s your feel on the new security measures?

>> No.9883957

Shit OP image.
Shit company.
Shit practices.

It's a shame all the normies will keep the con alive.

>> No.9887394

This honestly might be the worst set of panels i have ever seen in my 10 years of con-going. Everything is all sci-fi or fantasy live-action bullshit. They should've change the name to Phoenix Movie Con instead.

>> No.9887437

Super over priced plus all the guests always want $30 extra for a photograph or autograph when you allready threw down $90 for the shittiest con weekend of the year.

>> No.9887583

Please don't support this con if you can. If you already bought your ticket and/or locked into a hotel room, you might as well go, but they are really screwing around. These security changes are because security couldn't do it's job properly in the first place so the attendees suffer. I was actually told that they can't guarantee every security person will know all the rules. Yet if we don't follow them, we can easily lose our pass.

>> No.9888106

>>9880718
Probably going but heavily debating it this year after last. I didn't hate it but man it was fucking mediocre as fuck. Might just do a Saturday pass

>> No.9888145

>>9888106
I’m going because it’s the only con I go to in town. Last year sucked. And the prop ban sucks more, but that didn’t stop me from making a cosplay. I’m just going to use this con to see how the cosplay is treated before I tweak it for SDCC.

>> No.9888685

>>9888106
You are almost undeniably better saving any money you would throw at this con for going to AX honestly. Especially if it is anything related to anime, this con is just going to piss it away.

>> No.9888726

>PCC/PCF is a little over a week away and no thread.

Mainly because it's not really in need of a thread and like others are saying it's scheduling is completely stale. Problems I have with it are

>ticket pricing +100 dollars for "4 days"
>staff security and policy enforcement is make it up as they go
>panels lumped in as other things to make it look like there is more than there is, example rick and morty is considered anime(how?)
>panels on the schedule repeat themselves or are basically no different from the one the day before
>hotel costs are fucking absurd
>getting in and out of the area is a huge clusterfuck, so if you aren't fucked by hotel costs uber/lyft will get you for sure
>limited or just out right no food trucks
>vendor hall is mostly stuff people couldn't sell at a california convention with a heftier markup
>voice actors and other things are basically the exact same as previous year with the exact same type panel and will probably have the exact same questions asked

And yeah like someone else said there are other conventions either right around the corner that have some level of additional effort in them to change them up or what not. If you don't go this year it's safe to say the exact or nearly exact same amount of people will be there next year. Also, explaining for the billionth time what my outfit is and what "annie-me" wears off really fast. I always love getting another dude with a big bang t shirt on asking me "haha what's that, man that's so weird lol!"

>> No.9888925

I'm one of the few non-ASU affiliated people presenting at the science panels. I'll wear a Jedi cosplay on Thursday and Malcolm Reynolds Friday Saturday. Does anyone here like the science panels?

>> No.9889150

Debated this back and forth finally went and looked over the schedule again. Not seeing anything sticking out that I didn't see last year almost cut and pasted schedule, looks like I'll save my money for Sabo or what not

>> No.9889445

>>9888726
I go because I enjoy the environment. The people attending usually are what makes it fun for me. Some cosplays are good and the gaming rooms are pretty fun. It’s not worth 100 dollars, but that’s why I buy my passes when they launch. Not when they get too expensive.

>> No.9889476

>>9888726
The biggest issue is that this "con" became a pure marketing event. Guests are picked for who will get the most profit, panels are created by staff and repeated daily to advertise their paid events/guests, vendors were charged a ton so they have to charge a fuckton in return (which they make back through normies), and PCC won't pay for comfort while people wait in giant security lines out in the sun.

>>9889445
Honestly I used to think the same until I realized all the fun that happens outside of the convention. Cosplayers, neckbeard /tg/ gamers, and general debauchery fill the area if you just look.

>> No.9889618

>>9889445
Yeah I mean I generally only look forward to meeting people, but in recent years of the cons I just have less to connect with people about Marvel/DC shit especially since they are just pumping out movies left and right, it's not worth keeping up.

>>9889476
>Cosplayers, neckbeard /tg/ gamers, and general debauchery fill the area if you just look.

Yeah I think last year I had more fun, and spent more time outside the actual con center than in it. One of the reasons I am not going this year is for that

>> No.9889905

That’s fine. I’m still going because I want to. I had fun last year despite the weapons ban. Made my cosplay with the rules in mind and looking forward to sharing with others.

Security is now fast, with plenty of shade and people. For being Friday didn't seem that busy. They also cut the vendors hall to set up the gaming area in it, cross promoting their gaming convention? There seems to be a lot of less vendors as well. Panels seems lacking, but seems to be more food trucks and they now have the beer garden inside the blocked part of 3rd Street.

>> No.9892220

>>9890825
The security is nice, but I won’t be coming back to this convention. There’s crappy panels still, the vendors are even less then they where before and the vendors that where trash gimmicks, I hate the wrist band. I understand the rfid thing, but really, the wrist band is annoying. You can’t adjust it if you went too tight, some cosplays block the wrist band entirely making it hard to scan, the whole fun of badge ribbons is non existent since there wasn’t a badge to stick them to. You cut the vendors into half and I have seen more bath bomb, kinkos reprint of tv show posters, normie costume shops and book store stands then I care to see. The prop ban has really made the cosplays more about another rehashed slew of save made up skimpy superhero costumes because there isn’t much for props.

You just need to call this Phoenix pop culture con (PPCC). It’s not about comic books and geek/nerd culture any more. It’s about tv shows. You don’t invite guests that are even relevant to current interests like the other cons of same sizes. You only invite old actors and has been or lesser ( minor part) characters from popular shows. If you want people to return, stop being cheap and old. Bring in the new and trending things. Bath bombs and sweet treats are not comic culture. I half expect this to turn into infomercial con since all you see is the trash you see as ads on Facebook.

There are. They can ignore the crit they are getting all they want. They are dying at this point unless they do something about it. All they are about is making money and running with it. There isn’t any thing that draw people to the con any more. At this point, it’s only good for hanging out with friends but the ticket costs are too much making it not worth it any more. Despite the price of the tickets going up year after year, they can’t be bothers to spend some money to bring in current interests guests. Not that nigs would be liked in her home circuit any way.
