Lolita cuts are quite flattering on many body types, they just need to be adjusted to the person wearing them. You can have a longer or shorter bodice and still have the skirt portion begin at your natural waist; you can have more darts and definition in the bodice if your bust is large; you can make the skirt portion longer or shorter to flatter your own height, etc.
Unless you fit brand sizing and cuts, defaulting to one specific cut because the brands use it, without taking your own body shape into account, is incredibly dumb and results in disaster.
