Thinking about bailing - tickets for Mana's tea party haven't been dropped and pricing for airplane tickets and hotels are going up. I'm slightly bitter at Fake Star USA for being so disorganized with such a rare guest.

Why would you wait until the last minute for either of those? Will you be registering on Day 0 as well?

>> No.9808836

>>9808823
I don't think they are disorganized, but this is Moitie's first tea party stateside, so they are probably figuring out how they can personalize. They also have to coordinate things fully through multiple channels. Sakura-con does their tea parties through nearby hotels, not at the convention center, so the event planning is a little more than throwing it in a panel room and letting it run itself.

>> No.9808838

>>9808827
They are (per their website) a booking agency and event coordinator. I've attended a few of their events and they are really professional. I think we'll see them at more cons, because their talent roster is strong and it's supposed to get stronger. Their booth at cons is pretty cool too.

The tea party tickets are probably going to be a bloodbath. It'd be insane to spend like $1000+ on a flight and hotel without knowing that you have a ticket secured, since you end up only getting partial refunds on such short notice.

>> No.9808869

>>9808860
You're planning to drop $1,000+ on a tea party. Think about that for a second. If you're OK with that kind of expense for an hour or two at an event you may as well fly out and enjoy the weekend regardless. If you're literally only coming for the tea party and nothing else you should probably stay home and reevaluate your priorities.

If you’re planning to go to a con for. only one event/guest/concert/whatever and you don’t have a contingency plan if that something fails, please re-evaluate going. I’m not saying this to be scacastic. I’ve travelled to a con for a concert only for it to be cancelled last minute and the rest of the con was miserable for me. It’s shitty and you shouldn’t subject yourself to that. Plus shit happens, emergencies pop up and things get cancelled. Nothing is really set in stone, especially a tea party of all things.

STEM anon here, and even I think blowing 1k on a weekend in Seattle for just a tea party is stupid. Dresses are tangible items that can be worn again and resold to recoup some of the cost. A tea party is a one-time experience, and none of the ones I've attended have been worth more than about $50. Even at AP tea parties, the food is mediocre and half the attendees aren't very well dressed. I'll still go to the moitie tea party, but it's not the sort of thing I'd fly out of state on short notice for.

I have spent that kind of money on an event but it also has to be worth your time and effort. Most Lolita’s I know that do travel like that, tend to spend a few days around the town for vacation and hanging out with the locals or their friends.

It makes less sense to spend the money on last minute events that are not well organized. If you really have that money lying around spend it on Japan and his events there.

>>9810434

Don't wait until a weekend costs 1k then. Seattle is a great city with lots to do. Could have just booked 4-5 days, then enjoyed the area even if you didn't get a ticket. I've traveled just because of tea parties before, but the tea party has always become a minor thing for the trip. Heck, I went to San Fran for an AP anniversary tea party and was tempted to just skip it because I was enjoying the area so much.

>> No.9810588

>>9810580
I know it's a great city. I live here. I was saying the other anon planning to spend 1k to come here for a weekend is kind of throwing away her money. Before I moved here, I had to fly back and forth between SF and here all the time and it never cost more than $500 for a weekend. I guess if a brand tea party is really worth $500 to her, that's great, but that money can go a pretty long way toward vacations that aren't super short notice.

>> No.9810604

>>9810588
My point is, that she shouldn't have waited until it cost 1k. Should have made plans when it would have been a reasonable price to spend a long weekend here with or without Mana.

>> No.9810627

>>9810460
I wish that was a possibility.

>>9810604
I think you miss the point. The reason ppl are waiting is because there are no details on the stuff they want to go to. They don’t want to buy a ticket then find out they cannot go to the event. It’s pretty bad that weeks before the con they haven’t announced tickets for the tea party. If they don’t want to go to Seattle outside of Lolita con stuff it makes no sense to commit too early.

>> No.9810637

>>9810627
I didn't miss the point. If they want a good price then they have to risk it. It's just how travelling to a ticketed event works. If they don't want to risk it then oh well, more tickets for the rest of us. Not a tear is shed.

I'm the anon you replied to - and also a STEM anon.

I spent roughly that much going out of state to see One Piece Film Gold in theaters when it came out, so even if I'm not a lolita I understand where lolita-anon is coming from. Maybe it's not a life changing tea party, maybe the actual party (or movie) when taken out of context is barely solidly mediocre. But the experience of doing something incredibly niche you love with friends who understand it makes the adventure a million times more special than spending that money on merchandise or dresses or a tangible good.

This stupid shit is what I remember vividly having a ball with even years later, and I pretty much never regret going and DOING things. What's the point of being young with minimal responsibilities if you can't go on adventures.

What about borrowing from a friend or someone in a local comm?

>> No.9816076

>>9816070
You won't be able to. It's always a reservation list and tickets aren't transferable.

>> No.9816080

>>9816072
I've literally just moved to the city, and only met two members of the com for like two minutes last summer. I wish I felt comfortable asking the local com, but I'm not.

>>9816076
There's no where on anything that says that. The site only says tickets aren't refundable. They may have asked for my name on the app, but it's not like someone couldn't just say they're my name anyways.

Wouldn't it look better for the everyone if the venue is properly full rather than a little empty? Especially for photos to prove that the Western world wants more lolita tea parties?

>> No.9816090

>>9816080
Christ, are you 14? Brands already know the Western world likes tea parties. The problem here is that SakuraCon doesn't care much about lolita so they usually don't bother with a lolita guest. If you've ever been to a tea party you'd know there are no physical tickets and they check IDs for reservations.

>> No.9816104

>>9816070
You know you don't have to purchase a ticket if they accept your application, right? Just tell them you can't go and they'll move on to the next person on the list.

>> No.9816114

Just received my email with instructions to pay for a ticket. They are $65.

>> No.9816128

>>9816114
Me too! So excited! Just sent it, I hope goods+services was the right choice.

They are seriously just having us send it without an invoice? This is so ragtag.

Awesome! Got it as well.

Kind of weirds me out it is not a @"sakura-con" email tho....

I’ve got my tea party ticket! Would any anons be nice enough to hang out with me there?

I don’t have many Moitié pieces and I’m super nervous I’m going to make a fool out of myself though, yikes

Yeah I have been watching LM, CC, and Wunderwelt for anything to pop up. Never tried Tokyo Alice yet but thanks!

My comm is small and so far I think I am the only one that owns any Moitie or even likes that brand.

>>9816198
No, and the one linked above is filled with a strange bunch. If there isn’t one and another anon doesn’t create one I’ll link one after I arrive home!

Would you happen to know how strict brand tea parties are when it comes to the "you must wear ____" rule? I'm thinking >>9816188
might get turned away.

>> No.9816224

>>9816221
Not very. People have gotten into Baby tea parties with just wristcuffs or something equally small.

>> No.9816227

>>9816221
It really depends on the con/brand. I've been to tea parties where as long as you were wearing something from the brand, no matter how big or small, you could get in. But I've also been to tea parties that required at minimum a main piece.

>> No.9816232

>>9816224

Thanks. Also, I misread that 'any' vs 'many' post too. My bad.

>> No.9816244

>>9816224
I hope this is the case. Anon above with not “many” pieces — I only own Moitie blouses and a few accessories because my favorite main pieces are too out of my budget. I’ve loved Mana-sama, his bands, and MmM for years and I’m thrilled to go but I mainly wear classical. I wish I could borrow or rent an outfit to feel confident during the tea party but I don’t have any Lolita friends (I moved here recently and for some reason the Seattle Lolita comm won’t accept me?).

>> No.9816248

>>9816244
The Seattle mods are no longer active and can't be bothered to give up control of the comm. It's not too active these days because of that.

>> No.9816253

Wow. What a letdown! And here I was thinking that moving near the big city would finally let me make me some Lolita friends in a community. Thanks for the info, though.

Why don't you guys just . . . make a new comm . . .

>> No.9816255

I wonder if they really are just going down a list. I applied around 10 mins after ticket sales opened up and haven't received anything except the original "we got your application" email still. They sure know how to keep us on our toes.

Same here. But maybe people are asleep if they're coming from the east coast. The email didn't even have a reply time or anything useful. Like the location of the event.

>> No.9816271

>>9816268
I think the location is being kept hush hush so a bunch of fangirls don't swarm the event. >>9816255
I applied about a minute or 2 after the application opened and I received my payment email around 7pm PST.

I had to pester one of them multiple times at multiple artist alleys to get added in the group. Really, why are they mods? I've never seen any of them at meets or other events.
