I don't think they are disorganized, but this is Moitie's first tea party stateside, so they are probably figuring out how they can personalize. They also have to coordinate things fully through multiple channels. Sakura-con does their tea parties through nearby hotels, not at the convention center, so the event planning is a little more than throwing it in a panel room and letting it run itself.

They are (per their website) a booking agency and event coordinator. I've attended a few of their events and they are really professional. I think we'll see them at more cons, because their talent roster is strong and it's supposed to get stronger. Their booth at cons is pretty cool too.

If you’re planning to go to a con for. only one event/guest/concert/whatever and you don’t have a contingency plan if that something fails, please re-evaluate going. I’m not saying this to be scacastic. I’ve travelled to a con for a concert only for it to be cancelled last minute and the rest of the con was miserable for me. It’s shitty and you shouldn’t subject yourself to that. Plus shit happens, emergencies pop up and things get cancelled. Nothing is really set in stone, especially a tea party of all things.

Nayrt but that's what I'm doing, but I'm from out of state so this doubles as a vacation for me. I really only want to participate in the lolita/Moitie events (since no other guests have caught my eye). I'll be spending most of my time sightseeing and being a tourist.

Any of you Seattle friends have reccomendations? I love museums and art so I'll be checking out SAM and Frye, but what are some unique Seattle experiences?

NAYRT, and not a lolita myself, but I think your logic is messed up. Expensive hobbies attract people with a lot of disposable income. A thousand dollar weekend isn't much if you have a stable and specialized career (private sector law, STEM, etc).

STEM anon here, and even I think blowing 1k on a weekend in Seattle for just a tea party is stupid. Dresses are tangible items that can be worn again and resold to recoup some of the cost. A tea party is a one-time experience, and none of the ones I've attended have been worth more than about $50. Even at AP tea parties, the food is mediocre and half the attendees aren't very well dressed. I'll still go to the moitie tea party, but it's not the sort of thing I'd fly out of state on short notice for.

Don't wait until a weekend costs 1k then. Seattle is a great city with lots to do. Could have just booked 4-5 days, then enjoyed the area even if you didn't get a ticket. I know it's a great city. I live here. I was saying the other anon planning to spend 1k to come here for a weekend is kind of throwing away her money. Before I moved here, I had to fly back and forth between SF and here all the time and it never cost more than $500 for a weekend. It’s pretty bad that weeks before the con they haven’t announced tickets for the tea party. If they don’t want to go to Seattle outside of Lolita con stuff it makes no sense to commit too early.

I spent roughly that much going out of state to see One Piece Film Gold in theaters when it came out, so even if I'm not a lolita I understand where lolita-anon is coming from. Maybe it's not a life changing tea party, maybe the actual party (or movie) when taken out of context is barely solidly mediocre. But the experience of doing something incredibly niche you love with friends who understand it makes the adventure a million times more special than spending that money on merchandise or dresses or a tangible good.

This stupid shit is what I remember vividly having a ball with even years later, and I pretty much never regret going and DOING things. What's the point of being young with minimal responsibilities if you can't go on adventures.

Well if they only have room for 60 guests at the tea party, they need to go through the list chronologically to know who gets a ticket. If the first 30 people all added a plus one then only the first 30 applicants will be getting an invoice.

I'm guessing when they had the form open they weren't counting and just closed the form when they knew they were definitely full.

Christ, are you 14? Brands already know the Western world likes tea parties. The problem here is that SakuraCon doesn't care much about lolita so they usually don't bother with a lolita guest. If you've ever been to a tea party you'd know there are no physical tickets and they check IDs for reservations.

I hope this is the case. Anon above with not “many” pieces — I only own Moitie blouses and a few accessories because my favorite main pieces are too out of my budget.
