Hey gulls, hoping for a drawing of this coord (on the left).

I wasn't feeling well that day and I ended up going home without any outfit shots, a friend took this candid but that's all I got of it. The wig and makeup are the same / very similar to the photos on the right from another day! (the blouse is also the same, you can sort of almost see it, but it's just a plain peter pan collar button down).

I know it's not a lot to work with though, if anyone feels like it I'd be very appreciative!

I'm not a huge fan of the shoes simply because of how dark they are, but as far as people bringing up the tights--

I actually like the idea of bringing in traditional shoes + tights like with kimonos, only keeping the fabric light. I think it would bring the haori together with the coord way more.

The reason anons are saying legwear is because the balance is off. This thing looks like a heat trap because there’s so much fabric, the haori looks thick and the dress is high-necked. So the viewer thinks the weather is probably cold and you need all that fabric. But then bare legs with sandals, and now everyone is just confused and annoyed. Is it cold or not? Even if you dressed like this solely for insta at least make it a believable fantasy. If you’re going to cosplay drowning in a fabric tent, at least be consistent and choose an ankle-length dress. If it’s cold, at least be consistent and show it by wearing thick socks. If it’s actually so warm that you’re wearing sandals, match it with a skimpier dress and a summer haori, not some winter jacket.

imo, what you really suffer from is putting things together thoughtlessly. What was the image you wanted to convey (other than “let’s mush a haori on top of casual lolita with fug non-jfash sandals, these are three things cgl argues over so I’m sure they will love me”). Is it warm, is it cold? Are you dainty and drowning? Are you sexy and skimpy? What silhoutte are you going for, is it one that works or is it fugly? If you were going for East meets West, how do fugly weird sandals work with traditional East and traditional West? If you were going for East meets modern, how does a frumpy petticoatless fussy lolita dress work with spartan modern sandals?

Go in with one concept you want to convey and actually design your outfit instead of throwing on random things. Then look over your outfits with a critical eye and see if it clearly states your vision. Don't just look in the mirror and go "my hair is nice today, I'm cute so my outfit must be too". No, no it isn't. Your outfit is only three items and still should have been aborted the instant you combined any of the two items together.

Aside from that, the dress looks so sad and pathetic under that haori. There's no shape to the dress at all, so you look like you just threw on an oversized shawl and your mom's shoes, like a kid playing dressup. I think a small flower/kanzashi style clip to place on the side of your hair would be nice. Personally I like how your hair is styled, it’s nice and “flowy” looking like the haori.

As for leg wear, I like the bare legs but something like these (pictured) in white or plain white socks that go up mid thigh would look nice with this if you can find some that are thin enough to your liking.

This can't be explained easily but there was a meme a few years ago about a young girl luring older men into a van with the promise of classic rock cds and free beer and I've been giggling for a few days about a /cgl/ version of pic related

It doesn't translate too well from memetic into human words but I've been enjoying thinking about sweet lolitas pretending to be gothic lolitas and luring romantic and victorian goths under boxes with plastic bats or saying they have biographies of elspeth bathory in the back of their van and jfash girls peer pressuring a classic goth to wear a cravat

Thank you so much anon, and this does help me visualize a better coord! In fact as I was thrifting for another purpose last week I was beginning to see how the contrast in thin underlayer and thicker haori outer layer looked bad to anons. So as much as I love the colors I put together, I’m going to be more open to switching the dress out for something else.

I love frogs omg I would love to incorporate them somehow, since it’s a spring coord. Maybe a brooch or in the kanzashi or something.
