i put in an order directly through taobao like a week before CNY and two shops shipped the items before the madness. just now i'm getting notifications that four other shops shipped the orders to the warehouse so slowly i think everyone's getting backing into working again.

also i checked a few shopping services and they wrote that they're breaks end today so maybe this is the expected day to come back. i do know that some more independent shops are usually off until march but those are like small, two heart rated shops that you shouldn't be ordering from anyways.

Looking for a seifuku top with a black collar like pic related. Preferably completely black but black with white stripes works as well. The rest of the colors don't really matter.

They're all like... really good? I'm shocked. Even like the cheapo ones (A1 A2) are quite good.

The Lucky Cat perse (A2) is really cute, looks exactly like the picture, feels quite well made, and is actually rather roomy inside.

A1 is a great casual bag. The velvet doesn't feel cheap of flimsy at all, it feels quite thick, I wouldn't be nervous about putting any holes in this or anything like that.

B2 is really REALLY nice, it feels so sturdy, I was shocked that it had like such heft and weight to it. Converts into a backpack, also! Unfortunately I don't think it's quite what I was looking for so I may sell it

A6 I was also really surprised about, I was expecting like an average to below average replica but it feels so nice, the quality is really far beyond that (it even has a Japanese price tag lol). The lining, the metal details, everything is spot on.

B3, also great! Honestly it feels on par with some of my faux leather bags from meta and IW.

is there a reason people still use an ss for taobao? i've experimented with ordering directly about five times and it's been a huge difference in price. i even took the plunge and ordered one item, a wig, and it only cost $11 for ems shipping. i understand for things like preorders and custom items it's way better to have concrete communication but for everything it's literally like shopping on ebay.

Ntayrt but the shipping prices are way different. I regularly make orders that are 15k+ and pay around $150 in chipping. The price for EMS/DHL from ordering directly is around how much SS charge for SAL.

Pricing aside, it's really a lot more convenient to order through SS if you're not fluent in Chinese. I've had a lot of order mishaps that a SS would've caught (but since the FS doesn't check your shit beforehand, I was SOL)

that's just an example of ordering one item which used to be a stupid thing to do. i remember ordering a wig and some really small hair accessories and shipping from the ss was around $35.

i personally think people don't have to subject themselves into ordering huge hauls so shipping is worth it anymore. $11 for a wig isn't the cheapest but it's about the same from ordering from another domestic wig shop and its nowhere near $35.

Experience having a few of packages from Japan and China, and making some mistakes that made me hit unpleasant taxes.

First of all, lie all you can. It will save you money, and customs do not give a fuck, as long as it sounds legit.

The bigger packages are more likely to be checked, especially if the values are funny low. Chinese tend to write $20 no matter what. This is good, because it lets you bullshit your way through with any higher value you please.

VAT is straightforward, cutoff is at €22 for purchases, €44 for gifts. If value is above that, you get to pay VAT. Difficult to avoid, but you can make it lower by undervaluing.

The import tax is easier to avoid, as the cutoff is usually at €150. Keep your package value below that, and you should be safe. How much the tax is varies. E.g. for me it was 2.5% on a package I claimed to be a gift, but I messed up, and got hit with some 16.5% on another one, that I claimed to be purchase, and it happened to be above €150 total.

Important thing, you can undervalue not only content, but also shipping costs. Probably even claim the shipping was free.

The customs office should send you photos and/or original label from the package, so you know what is declared on it, the shipping cost if any, and if it's marked as a gift. Go with it. If they ask, it means that they think it's undervalued, or that the contents listing is missing. Provide that, but still undervalue. If it's marked as a gift, you can try to claim it's a gift.

All that said, you have better chance slipping through if you split packages, as small values will be more believable. Even if shipping is more, you will save that in taxes.
My best package went through customs, but I paid nothing.
A good one I claimed as gift and paid only VAT + tiny tax.
The worst one I paid a total of almost 40% in taxes, declared (and still undervalued) by me as above €190+90 shipping.
EU sucks.

Just pay attention to the measurement charts and it's better to go a size up than a size down if you're somewhere in between. Material will be dependent on the seller/manufacturer. You can get some really great quality stuff if you do your research. Look through the reviews, filter for photo reviews and you can get a good idea how something might look irl without all the fancy lighting/editing. The size charts are there for a reason. Photos can also help you gauge if you need to size up or not (for example: elastic waistbands). If you're right on the cusp of sizes then size up and you can always alter it in the right areas to have it fit you better.

Can anyone help me understand this listing a bit better than what I'm getting from google translate? I'm hoping this listing is for getting a pair of gloves with fake nails attached like pic related, but based on the wording google translate is showing me I'm not sure whether it might only be an add-on option for those purchasing a full suit or something .

Jut put in my order! I've taken to buying a lot of the spandex, chiffon and other specialty fabrics I need for cosplay stuff from Taobao and have actually had a lot of luck quality-wise by sticking to the right shops and listings. My favourite spandex listing (just ordering black this time, top right corner) isn't even remotely shiny, has a nice weight/drape to it, comes in a ton of colours and costs like $3 a yard so I just keep buying everything from there. Taking a chance on a couple other cheap ones I need that were from the same shop and/or had good review pictures this time too.
