I went to one day since I got asked by a friend and fucking hell it was proper shit. There was 90% bootlegs in the merch area, artist alley closed for fuck knows what reason, the age range of congoers made it look like shitty fancy dress party. Oh yeah also about the cosplay... There was like the biggest shit out of shit. I've been there with friends for only an hour and then we went back to hotel room for anime and pizza time. 10 quid wasted, the rest of money saved for the rest of weekend.

Tim Roberts photography. He's now an admin of the cosplay connect page for some reason.
He's a Manc based tog, and his work is decent but he's not completely non problematic. He stopped shooting at MCM because of how staff were treating togs (which is fair) and then went to only shooting AL cons. Then when I asked him in about 2015 he stanned MT even though he knew full well about the accusations made against Towers and also admitting that Mike could be a dick.
He went out of the cosplay game for a while but has come back now for some reason. He can creep a lot too. Don't know if he's assburgers or not, my bf is another Manc based tog and knows him very well. He's had to call Tim out in the past about making inappropriate comments about myself and other cosplayers.

Depends what area you’re in. I imagine some of the best are London based, like someone else mentioned Papercube, FoodandCosplay etc. I have never shot with them but their work is nice and I haven’t heard anything bad about them.
When you venture outside of London you have to compensate a little as there are less togs on the same level as the previously mentioned. Some togs have great work but are sleazeballs like Tim Roberts. I’ve shot once with James Coaton who is another Manc tog for example and he seems fine, other than the obvious thing he has for Beth he seems harmless.

We should try to make a list of togs that are decent by area and also list togs to avoid by area too.

I know Sean (Mimir) personally and I do understand this sentiment. He can come across as creepy and a little desperate but he is a decent guy. He does have autism, I don't like condoning 'creepy' behaviour but sometimes it is legit just his assburgers. What kind of a reputation does Road to Cosplay have on here? She kind of screwed me over one year at MCM. I think it was maybe October 2016? I was pretty desperate for somewhere to stay as my accommodation plans fell through. I put a post up asking if anyone had a spare bed, and got a response from her. For £150 (give or take) I'd get a bed in a private apartment she and her friends had booked. Long of the short of it, I ended up sleeping on the floor in the living room, with no pillows, and a mattress protector for a blanket for the weekend. I thought I was paying for one of the beds, but she had forgotten to tell me she would be giving her friends all the beds (and keeping one for her and her girlfriend of course) and the sofas. Regretted not staying in a hostel. Ended up spending almost 200 quid to sleep on the floor (when my spot wasn't covered in their stuff whilst they practiced their 'Paint with the colours of the wind' Khal Drogo skit). I'm probably being too bitchy, it was just irritating to learn after you pay a load of money you get a nice hard floor.

I have a blacklist.
It includes a small but vocal minority of the LL community, mainly Kira. And Jade Knight. That's it.

Although, I personally think with cosplayers it's a lot easier to know who to avoid. I also have a contract, since I've worked with Kira, to basically ensure myself against people trying to not pay or demand more stuff than we agreed to. But people like that all ask the same questions when arranging a shot. 'How many photos will I get' 'If I want to get more than that do I have to pay' 'Can you send me all the RAW files' or equivalent of all the photos.


These are things that do not happen. I personally don't commit to a number of images from a shoot, as it can be anything from 10 to 20, depending on the variety we've got, but I tell people I'll provide at least 12. That's me usually spending a week of having no life and doing nothing else but going to work and then editing until I fall asleep on my keyboard.

And no, I do not and will not post photos unedited. It's unfinished work. It's sloppy.

Checking out the Pricing Guides for the venue then phoning them up confirms AL hired rooms to fit a max capacity of around 916, over 2 days that's only 1832, the con was 3 days but only the rocket bar was open and that has a max capacity of 300. So I'm guessing 70% of ticket holders were weekenders which puts LAGC at around 1200ish people for the 3 days. Where the fuck they get 4000 from is beyond me as the venue confirmed with what AL hired they couldn't have 4000
