Can we get a music thread going? Particular music that makes you feel more lolita, artists/bands that perform in lolita, stuff that you reckon fits the aesthetic, music that you think fits with a certain substyle or just "sounds lolita". Do you listen to Jpop? Classical music? Screamo?
(pic related- Merry Merli is a group that performs in Lolita.)

>> No.9765394

While I do think that some types of music are more "suited" to one substyle than another, imo if you feel a connection to a certain musician/band/sound then that's "your" lolita music and it's not necessarily defined by your style; take the sweet lolitas that love heavy metal for example.
I mostly wear classic in black and old school, the kind of thing that normies mistake for plain old goth, and these are a few of the things I listen to:
Kokusyoku Sumire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iofgF2iAkiU
Kanon Wakeshima: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgmm_gVcIHQ
Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0rTy9L7MXk
Classical music too, not limited to but Requiem is always at the top of my list: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1DsJ5YQr5s&t=51s
And honestly, nothing makes me feel more lolita than visual kei:

Side note: I don't listen to them in particular but Die Milch wear lolita in their videos and performances, and Hollow Mellow seem to have that general feeling that lolita musicians have in their sound and look; their sound isn't so much to my taste but maybe some gulls will like them.

Any Jun Togawa fans here? I know she's pre-lolita and pre-visual kei, but I really associate her music with lolita for some reason. It's just the perfect combination of cute and gruesome... It resonates with me in a similar way to how So Pretty/Very Rotten did.

Doujin albums are my go-to music for lolita (together with bands and artist that were previously mentioned by other anons).
Unlucky Morpheus, Yura Hatsuki (to some extend, love the music but dislike her voice sometimes) and Toka Minatsuki's Faust album (for those who like Vocaloid/Utau too) always give me heavy egl feels.

Let's play a game for everyone who's bored:
>name your favorite lolita substyle
>go to dojin.co

I'm a big fan of shibuya-kei, picopop and early 2000s era japan in general so here are some obligatory songs from what I consider to be the cultural pinnacle of both jfash and the accompanying music. They go together so well, it's perfect for putting in headphones and bopping along with while you're strolling through the streets!

Macdonald Duck Eclair (more chiptune/video game inspired. some of their stuff is very sweet and soft and some is super glitchy and electro): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Sm95IiMjnk

Halcali, an early 2000s jpop/rap duo. super cute and quirky: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p75F21aaBIo

oh also wanna mention seiko oomori since this video encompasses a lot of more modern jfash styles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qlEeVS2vMU

and kero kero bonito, a modern british group many of you might have heard of, they were massively inspired by halcali and have an awesome hyper pop sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL8fz8W2Yos

Baroque chamber music like Bach and classical spanish guitar are very "classic" styled, and the earlier chamber music suits gothic very well. Play around and see if there's something you like. Even if you're not a classical fan or a musician, there is a huge variety between composers and styles.
