Just under a month away and no thread for SacAnime.

So have we all just completely given up on this con or what? I mean, I get that it's gotten pretty shit in the past couple years, but I'm probably still gonna go for at least Saturday.

What're your plans for the con if you are going?
What're you gonna be wearing?

I'm going, but I was really turned off by the handling of certain events last time. I missed the tea party and heard incredably mixed reviews on it. I went to the swap meet and was disappointed to see it was mostly staff trying to pawn off their old weeb stuff. Plus, you couldn't swap your own stuff unless you signed up way ahead when they had "space" available. It seemed less like a swap meet and more like a "see all our unpaid staff here? you should buy their stuff to show your support!"

>> No.9721886

The tea parties have only the con scene lolitas, barely any of the Sacramento comm attends. I did two years ago and it was.. ok. Probably not going to go to events hosted by N again though.

Yeah, I met her and seems to really have her heart in it, but then the accounts of how it went are all over the place; I've spoken to more then one person who's gone to the same one and half liked it, half didn't and all the feels in between.

If you're ever in town and want to hang out, just post on the Sac comm page. We do nicer stuff than that tea party a healthy amount, and while midweek might be tough to get a large group together, someone would join you.

As for the meet, N was nice, not much of a gabber with people she's unfamiliar with. My issue with the event boils down to logistics, nothing to do but sit and eat your biscuits while you wait for more cold tea. Everything was quite awkward, but it wasn't like it wasn't worth the ticket price, you know? I didn't get stuck on the uh.. ita end of the table, if I did I would probably have politely excused myself.

going for the weekend since it's the only con my group makes it to.
Would like them to post the damn meet ups so I can plan my costumes for the days.
I've got maid Haru (persona 5) with a maid Mona plush, 2B with a 9S, Decidueye kigu and a group of 5 yoshis.

It's a shit show that after summer I'll be done with. Just mainly go to cosplay cause I like making shit. The cosplay wrestling is back, hope they give it more room since summer was stupid packed

I went and picked up a Darkness dakimakura and a few other things. I mainly went there to pick up T-shirts and merch also check out and support artists. It's because they're trying super hard to market Sac Anime as family friendly. There needs to be more 21+ events, also it's been outgrowing the convention center for a long time now. Shit is cramped as fuck on Saturday.

>>9744671
They need to start requiring a portfolio for artist alley. If they could get rid of just 1 row of artists or that entire indy section that was near empty all weekend it would of helped a lot.

It's less over crowding and more there isn't enough space for these lines. Especially the kpop/rwby line bullshit.

They also need to actually pay for some real staff cause these free people aren't enough and don't know jack.

If they stopped flying out horrible djs from Japan they could hire a few people who know what they're doing.

Really glad they skipped cafe Hoshi this time. Did they even do the Starlight ball?

Having that 1 elevator down in the main hotel sucked ass. As did that huge line for passes on Friday. Was so glad I picked mine up Thursday.

>>9745284
Less people with baby strollers or grandpas bringing toddlers thinking it's an event made for kids. We don't really need hentai events just more panels with swearing that aren't trash

honestly tho i didnt really see that many little kids. a couple of babies and a decent handful of grade schoolers and tweens but the rest was teenagers and adults (neither of whom would be at all deterred by 21+ events just existing on the schedule)

+1 to this!

The djs they get are not bad, but they don't touch rave type music at all. Is someone telling them SacAnime is a club? How does SacAnime always break the cardinal rule that you play Happy Hardcore (or any Hardcore) at an anime convention?!

artist alley is really the only thing I come for anymore. Summer is gonna be my last con cause I'm nearing 30 and would like a kid, but know my cosplay habits cost too much to do both.

I just hope we have some good guests, meet ups and panels for the summer one.

Did anyone even bother with the Indie section? It looked really empty all weekdend and could of been used to widen the artist alley lanes some instead of the same 20 artists we've seen since the Scottish temple.

Must have been worse near the front. I was in the back, near the announcer table and it wasn't that bad.

I missed the other guys who were at MagFest, but it was a good time as always. I stayed for the entire thing and was impressed by the SPW show. Seems like most of the crowd that stayed ran out of energy for making noise though (myself included).

I would say so. I like the wormy tech guy character more than Matt The Rock Star, but he usually plays Matt The Rock Star at SacAnime to fill in a good heel character for the show. Ms DaKree also adds a nice bit of attitude to the show.

Overall it was a good show, so if you enjoyed it, you would like them. I am a CWF fanboy at this rate though, I have been going to third shows for over 3 years now. Always catch them at SacAnime and Fanime. Only panel/event I never miss.
