Nothing against you of course, but this is why I'm afraid to compete with LL costumes. They'd be handmade of course, the game has some SERIOUSLY beautiful designs, but the sheer popularity of LL and accessibility to cheap costumes has caused everybody to either be surprised when an LL costume places at a craftmanship comp, or just assumes all LL cos is bought in the first place.

I've been oranising my cosplay timeline for next year so I can work ahead of cons and stress less about finishing costumes in time, one of the costumes on there is an LL cos, but I'm afraid as soon as I'm called on stage everybodys going to roll their eyes and say "oh, ANOTHER Love Live costume." since I do the exact same thing! The difference being, I'm entering it into a "pro" level comp that requires costumes to be handmade, rather than a novice level where all the taobao dance kids enter.

I saw her at WCS as well and sneaked a few critical glances at her costume, and I gotta say I was pretty unimpressed. I mean yeah she sparkled on stage, but her lining made the skirt buckle like crap, and I heard through the grapevine that she'd been given feedback from judges to put structure in the skirt to make it more like the character's silhouette when she last entered the costume in a previous comp, and she'd ignored the feedback. Also I was in the audience and while waiting for the results of WCS winners I heard some girls behind me talking about her skit, and at first I thought that you needed to be a fan of Fate to get the jokes and story, but it sounded like those girls knew the game too and they had no fing idea what was going on either. Yeah Ettelle does okay costumes (her props are great imho), but she can't rely on her internet fame through excessive shooping to win competitions if she doesn't pick her skit game up. Also I kind of lost a bit of respect when she started posting on her insta her wip photos of like props and junk but doing it in her undies or revealing clothes so ???

Some things that affect retouched pictures can be the photographer's equipment, light and noise (leading to more blur/clarity used), their own style of editing/retouching, and so on. I don't think it's fair to blame the cosplayer solely. Even if the retouching around the face/body were done only by the cosplayer, I think it's fine as long as they're happy with the results. Does it really matter that it's not consistent, if she's making it suit the character/costume more? You're judging her by your standards, but she's got her own - why would she need to impress you?

I just really dont see any appeal in *series specific* conventions, it doesnt feel like it's a con? More like a fan meet-and-greet event. At least at normal conventions you can run around loving everything you love in one place, rather than having to focus on nothing but the one series all weekend.

To be honest it should be on them to contact the convention to ask about stunts and acrobatics. All the comps I entered this year said something about not doing any stunts/acrobatics on stage, or if you were, to get approval by the con first. I just had a peek at Supanova's rules and all it says about acrobatics is "If you do any fight or acrobatic sequences, you do so at your own risk" which imo they really need to update that and expand on their rules, but it's never bad to be super duper certain that [EXTREMELY RISKY THING] is okay with the con, rather than just expecting it to be fine.

I looked them up and while they're honestly... not pretty to look at... at least they made their costumes from the looks of it. Even though LL dances in comps piss me off to no end, LL dances wearing handmade costumes get a slide from me. Sure I'd rather the groups do REAL skits, but going up as a 9 person walkon would be the worst case scenario here.

Both Love Live groups that performed on he day were disqualified, and while Musette did do a jump with all 9 the other group only had one person do a small sort of hop, they weren't exactly massive jumps like whats been done in the past and have just been let off with a warning BECAUSE of the fact they haven't explicitly said anything about it in their rules. Agreed, love live dances in taobao costumes don't get my tick of approval, but both these groups had made their costumes

Were you at Animaga on the Sarurday this year? Musoka did some simple hopping jumps in their choreography and the stage was swaying and bending so much a bunch of us honestly were thinking it was going to break. The post doesn't specify *what* types of jumps they were doing either, I know for a fact that in 2 of Aqours choreographs theres dangerous jumps, Kimikoko has a leapfrog part where its very easy to kick the people you're hopping over in the head, and in the new song Miracle Wave Chika does a full on back handspring.

A simple jump by itself isn't very acrobatic sure, but when there's a lot of movement and people involved, theres a higher risk for inhury and the con obviously doesn't want to be liable for attendees getting hurt.

Different stages are rated for different amounts of force. The stage Supanova uses is almost definitely not the same as a concert stage as they're far more expensive.

The LL group was penalised, not disqualified, and wasn't in the running for prizes anyway. Their performance was lacklustre. Half the group weren't even smiling during their dance.

The top prize possible at Supanova is something like $400 in GIFT VOUCHERS. They were offered like $650 worth of tickets (judging by the note on the Supanova wall saying they were offered gold coast Supanova tickets) as an apology for their claims of not knowing the rules.

Right now they're just being dumb.

Like the other anon, I'd love for a con like Colossal here too but there's no way I could see it working. The reason Colossal works is because it's not just held at a water park, it's held at the Kalahari so you get the hotel for dealers/artists/panels etc, you get the water park, you get the arcade, and you get the bar all in one place. Down in Vic we only have Adventure Park, not sure how much the water parks changed in the past 6 years since I last went but back then it was not... impressive. Congoers would get super bored easily since there's no real way to do anything con-like at the park. I've never shot with this dude before and I have no plans to, but from what other anons are saying, he managed his time terribly by heavily focusing on certain cosers. If he was just taking photos first come, first serve then that's fine, but once again, people applied to have their photo taken and the bare minimum he should be doing is taking their photos.

The same standard would apply to any photographer or anyone else providing a similiar, structured service at a con. If someone booked to enter, for example, a maid cafe, and they showed up on the day to 3 hour wait times because the cafe staff weren't appropriately rotating customers and adhering to set time rules, then they would have a right to be pissed off and provide negative feedback. Shitty practice breeds shitty reviews.

If i'm remembering my history correctly, then Steamkitten would be comparable to a rotary press machine.
In the old days rotary presses originally strived to press as gently as possible to not mark the paper, engraving text, etc into the page was a sign of poor skill.
But in modern times they have to press hard and make engraved letters/pictures to distinguish them from electronic printed paper.

During their break up time I dealt with my own and randomly both reached out. I never chose to ask what happen, only inferred from what I saw; with her doing the hair cut thing, the new bf briefly and some erratic posts/behaviour. From him I got...well magic and some hang outs.

As people they seem nice and while I disagreed with them on some matter, they were always polite and respectful and if their was garbage rumours from them it’s never reached me.
