Post about things that make you nostalgic (cosplay or lolita/general jfash!)
It can be pics,stories,...everything as long as you keep it /cgl/ related!

Pic very related. I miss coming back home from school and going on EGL on Livejournal.
I also kinda miss old internet in general (before 2010), and being so carefree.

I don't wear sweet like I did when I was a beginner, but the Oregon girls are still a major source of nostalgia for me. I used to browse faunkegin's and swdpunk's photo posts on egl and d_l for inspiration and still would had photobucket not gone to shit.

Things like PonPonPon, old bibles and stuff make me feel super nostalgic. I used to watch every new episode of kawaii.international (orginal with mana) and celebrated the first few episodes of kawaii.i. I was a sucker for any new information I could find about any kind of jfashion, vk artist or whatever.

Oh my gosh yes kawaii international,kawaii.i,...
I was a bab back then who just began to get into lolita (and having asperger,if i get interested in something i get REALLY into it,nearly obsessed) and would spend hours looking at all of these vids, drooling over the Baby store tour,La Pafait tour,Angelic Pretty tour,...
>tfw I have the dress Misako wears in that vid that I used to want so bad years ago

I always wondered why they stopped the original kawaii.international. It was so cute and informative and way better than the current cringe efame hungry shit show it turned into. Like, they were right in the Itasha sequel when they stopped out of nowhere and I'd still check the channel months after to see if they'd upload more. Also sad that the full videos are all gone.

Man, I remember looking at daily_lolita posts everyday from my favs. Shelbycloud, mintymix, and Iiralina were some I really liked. I used to also stalk everyday_vk in the mornings before I went to school. I remember when Claire Belton was still known for her art and lolita stuff rather than Pusheen. I used to plan ideas for things I wanted from Sweet Rococo when I eventually got the money. BTSSB and AP to me were like these huge expensive and inaccessible monoliths to me because I was still this young and poor student. I also remember seeing the birth of Fairy Kei and the like and being enamored with it. A lot of my JFashion friends got into it too recently to be able to nostalgia trip with me and it's a little bit lonely for me, I can't lie.

iktf. I only arrived in 2010 but for some reason seeing 2007-08-09 posts makes me feel very nostalgic.
And same, If back then you told little me that I would have a full brand (main pieces) wardrobe today I would have gasped in disbelief lol.
I'm so glad brand became way cheaper especially older pieces from that time.
I remember rushing to do my homework when coming back from school so my parents would let me use the computer and I would go on EGL,read the latest wank,forums,... (back when "drama" was still called "wank" and "weaboo" were called "wapaneses")
and I would eat breakfast while reading secrets every sunday

I loved reading the secrets every week as well. Behindthebows isn't as fun to look through as it used to be, I haven't read the secrets in years. I really miss the lj days. I really miss this kind of style... so simple compared to today's lolita. I miss getting home from school and checking egl and d_l and reading my favorite blogs. Now the community feels so disjointed and there's no actual discussion like there used to be on egl, no where to look at people's meet up pictures... it's just people stroking their own egos now. People take being posted to cgl way too seriously and way too much to the heart these days. Too thin skinned. So people don't post meet photos for fear of ending up here and being called ita or uggo or whatever. I don't really understand why girls give a shit.

>> No.9691927

>>9691901
People used to be a lot more afraid of cgl than they are now, and it's mostly newbies or permaitas who are still afraid. There's also a pretty negative association with being posted to 4chan and the fact that this board isn't just Lolita makes it a bit weirder.
I rejected a comm application from a girl once (she was known for being trouble in the con scene and we didn't want it in the comm). Next day she posts me specifically in my country thread on here, just any random photos she could find to the point where the congoers in the thread were pissed at her. Unfortunately, since people shit post in the threads on the regular I'm now part of that, my photos get dragged back up, edited, people say really creepy shit, and I've had people post my full name on there.
I know it's an extreme case but having photos posted here isn't the same as if it was on an LJ comm.

>> No.9691939

>>9691927
I can confirm. I only started visiting cgl in 2012 even though I'm into lolita since 2008 and knew about the existence of cgl since 2009. I remember that cgl that was regarded in my comm as a place where all kinds of "horrible" people would gather, and it could ruin your reputation if you were affiliated with it. Oh and it was full of porn and gore so you better never visit this place. I know now that this was total bullshit (and possibly the tactic of some girls who knew better and came here to keep it more of a secret place), but the belief was strong in my comm to the point were girls were legit afraid of cgl. For the longest time I was scared of even typing this url into my brower lel.

I didn't even join the fashion until 2014 and yet my heart still hurts reading this. I never lurked cgl before 2014, but I did see loads of pictures from LJ and other sources of daily lolitas and various Jfash kids in Harajuku and it just looked so whimsical and amazing. I obviously can't feel nostalgic for something I was never apart of, but I sometimes feel like I got into the community way too late. It's fun and I've met some wonderful friends, but I do wish there was a more unified platform and that people weren't such famewhores.

Same here. Girls in my comm used to be terrified of cgl and never came here unless they were given a direct link to the offending thread. Nowadays it still has a bad reputation and if you make it known you post here you risk getting scapegoated when a comm member is posted to the ita thread, but the only people who don’t lurk here are naive newbies. This means that as soon as someone is posted or even mentioned in a negative way, they know about it. Most of them know better than to defend themselves but many will vent to their friends about it as soon as it happens and will bring it up at meet ups. /cgl/ is at the forefront of people’s minds way more than it used to be. When someone takes a silly picture at a meet, someone else will joke about the picture going on /cgl/. People act like it doesn’t bother them but they clearly do care and even let it determine their behavior to some extent.

I miss cons being relatively small. Like 4,000 people over 3 days small.
You knew everyone there was fan and since we were all so thirsty to talk about this strange hobby everyone talked to everyone.

I also miss knowing everyone made their own shit.
It let me know I was chatting with someone who knew that show backwards and forwards. They had to own the VHS tape/rented it, look for the right scenes, commit that shit to memory or sketch it, go through all the sewing cause either you did it or grandma and grandma was going to fuck it up cause she didn't want her grandbaby showing that much leg, and there was only 1 or 2 cons a year for them so they put serious effort into only a couple costumes.

Halcali was definitely the band I listened to the most during this time.

I remember a music video that had two Japanese girls with brown hair who looked almost like twins, and the video was themed around baseball? I've been searching for it for years now but I can never remember enough to find it and it still bothers me to this day. Their music was really catchy too.

I'm sad I'll never get to experience this now. I was too young to have a big wardrobe and freedom to hang out all the time and have shoots and meetups. Now I'm 23 but no friends to have meetups or hangouts in frills in, our comm isn't that close knit.

Same... lol. though it sucks because I still have my old ITS stuff and it's horribly ita. The lace is horrible and cheap and scratchy and the fabric is the basic, cheap, gross poly/cotton Joann's blend. UGH. I thought they were precious at the time, and still they have a certain nostalgic charm to them, but they are terrible and I could have spent money elsewhere. The girls were really nice, I think there were two at first, at least, and then just one? I can't remember... I just know it was.. maybe 2002? 2003?

Remember the Cruxcrommissa skirts, aka one of the very first big scammer dramas in the LJ community?

It had everything: mods defending him, that one friend who ended up working at Btssb in San Francisco and bitching about customers on his LJ because he didn't like actually talking to people, and I think at one point someone actually went to his house? Very dramatic.

Looking back, it's almost funny that so many people were just clamoring to get these skirts.
