this was really weird too. the leather armor looked flat, the MH looked a little messy, and the storm trooper was obviously saved for a higher prize. but i thought the middle looked better than the girl's.

I got to see her dress up close after the contest and it was really well made. But so were half the contestants and literally everyone else had more going on than she did. I was surprised she was a finalist to start with considering how mediocre her entry photo looked, so I'm even more surprised she took 2nd place. The audience was very confused when it happened.

I honestly don't know how that Hades won her category. Sure, the wig was cool, and she had some nice facial prosthetics, but...that was it. The Diablo costume had resin-cast armor lined with LEDs that actually pulsed in a heartbeat pattern. I saw some detail shots of the work that just blew me away. The Hades seemed kinda weak in comparison. Didn't understand the Zelda getting second place either- her armor was super clean, which is great and all, but so was pretty much everyone else's. I just can't figure out what factor could've propelled that costume to 2nd place- the embroidery looks like machine-work, and the dress itself is pretty simple.
Huge congrats to Cowbuttcrunchies on their win, though, I've been following them for years and the amount they've improved is insane.

You saw the judges' panel, right? 3/4 were women. So I doubt the 2nd placer slept with any of them. I don't know HokuProps personally, but being last year's winner, I think he'd be unlikely to accept bribes. He just seems like a decent dude.

You know I think that is the one singular thing that bugs me about it, especially because we know CBC can do some crazy wig work. I think that's the extra factor that's been missing; she spent so much time on everything that it's like she forgot she knows how to style wigs. You don't place second in iron wig without learning a few things.

A woman doesn't have to sleep with anybody to win a contest, for god's sake. You weren't a judge, you didn't see any of the winning costumes up close, so stop complaining and grow the hell up.

First of all this thread was really close to falling off the board entirely. You just renewed the drama by starting an argument and not using sage.

Second you just outed yourself as one of her friends, seeing as how she just posted that big rant on facebook about how boohoo mean and horrible the internet is. So any valid defense anyone gives her will look like it's coming from her friends and lose all validity.

And lastly I hope you know she has talked so much shit on this board. She looks down her nose at people and just because she works hard on something, thinks she deserves the moon. I like her costumes but she didn't deserve 2nd place. I don't think she slept with a judge but it is strange that she placed higher than more impressive costumes that were also well made. Because if everyone in the category has armor that is on the same level being really good at non armor parts can get you more points, plus being well rounded might push you towards the top 3 becaus those aren't category specific.

Anyone can compare the close-up shots of her cosplay vs the other contestants and tell there's an imbalance here, considering that everyone has posted plenty of detail shots. Her work is clean but not detailed and her armor leaves a lot to be desired... pic very related.

Multiple skills is important but most of the better entries did this... her armor + sewing combination wasn't special. Half the armor entrants used LEDs/electronics and the seraphim's gown probably had more sewing detail than Zelda's entire outfit.
