How did you join a community without looking like a fetishist? I'm transgender and I really love Lolita fashion, just recently decided to test the waters with my first coord and I absolutely loved it. I couldn't stop smiling when I had it on. But I could never wear it outside even if I looked impeccable, I just get too scared.

I want friends into this stuff, friends I can go out with in lolita so I don't get so scared. I want to join my local comm, but I'm afraid of being labelled a fetishist, and I'm new so I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to fashion.

As for me normally, I pass like 90% of the time when wearing androgynous clothes. But that could be because I'm at university and they're all hyper conscious about offending me.

Has anyone here joined a comm successfully? How was it? Was it hard to get people to take you seriously? Did you make friends?

More specifically, is there anyone in the Sydney comm? Can you tell me what it's like?

Easy. Join a comm without being a creepy fetishist. Just be a normal human being.

I've met a few men and mtf trans wearing lolita, and I'm in several comms myself and made friends with plenty of lolitas. I was scared at first, too, but most people IRL are not actually assholes.

Learn the fashion. Ask the comm thread what Sydney comm is like, but you don't have to mention you're trans. Apply to the Sydney comm (should be on facebook) and actually go to meets. If you're still too anxious, then try going to a convention by yourself and wear lolita.

Anyone got a good makeup guide/tutorial for getting yourself to look more like an anime girl rather than a drag queen?

All the vids on YouTube seem to lean towards the latter rather than the former. The closest I've seen is the vid linked in the google doc, but they're still very obviously male in it.

I've seen before/after pics of relatively masculine looking guys (unfortunately my face is not very androgynous) with great trap cosplays, so it has to be possible (pic related). I just can't seem to find any good tutorials for it.

The only reason why pic related looks relatively masculine is because of the beard. His jawline and brow ridge are both pretty soft and he has decent lips to work with. Also the transformation looks dramatic because left photo was taken at a higher angle which makes everyone look cutesier. The best you can do is to selectively use drag queen tips.

Unless your face has some softness to begin with you're never really every going to look like an uguu anime girl and that's something that you're going to have to accept.

It seems like you have something to work with. I think your best bet is a wig that frames your face better and helps you build some cheek volume. A little contouring to redefine your jawline helps as well but I don't think your chin is a full man chin.

Also you seem to have a pretty visible shadow so shave close and use a orange color corrector under the foundation to even out the color. Good luck anon!

Just cosplayed Homura this past weekend at a /k/ meet-up, but unfortunately I couldn't really do any complex make-up, since the small mirror I had packed made it too difficult to contour or do anything beyond just basic foundation and eye make-up.

I was also getting what I think is razor burn on my thighs and crotch. However, now that I see this, I'm interested in trying it. Only thing I'm concerned about however is that I have what I believe to be sensitive skin, and I don't know how I'd react to a harsh treatment like this. Has anyone else tried it? I'm and I really want to try crossplaying at my local anime con, but I'm too scared to wear a dress by myself so I'll try getting someone else to do it with me; preferably my crush.
...Whom I've only talked to once. Well, shit. How do people get the confidence to do this type of thing? Also, I'm trans, so I feel like I might get too giddy and act weird if someone mistakes me for a girl.

The standards for 2hu cosplay is pretty low. You could be the biggest hon out there and still be more passable than most the 2hus there.

I get called out for being girly in both personality and appearance; and it's a pretty simple cosplay...I just don't think I'm confident enough to rock the whole trap attitude or outright pass.

>> No.9662344

>>9662172
Out of curiosity, what is a trap attitude?

Also 2hu is a pretty good first choice since it isn't too rare to see guys try. If this is your first time, even if you are blessed in the looks department, you can rest assured some elements of the cosplay will not be a 100% pass. Just take it as your first step in gaining some experience I guess.

Also you can selfpost here to ask for concrit on pulling off Renko. In a costume as simple as hers, shape and silhouette is key to be convicing.

>> No.9662429

Crossplaying 2hu at a local anime con is perfect for your first time so you shouldn't be nervous or anything, you'll fit right in. I don't know how you'll casually bring it up with your crush when you've only talked to her (him?) once, that seems even weirder than crossplaying 2hu.

And yeah, post a pic if you need concrit. Otherwise, go have fun.

I mean, the idea was that I could get some blonde guy to be Maribel so I don't feel like a weirdo. I know it's weird to make plans with people that barely know me, but I'm desperate for someone to take the blunt of the trap jokes.
>>9662344
Um...I guess it'd be something like you see in anime? Confident and joking about it, basically putting on a show. I'll probably post something once I decide if I'm even going to the con, but 2hu's literally nonexistant in my small, Slavic country.

I got my confidence to crossplay, and crossdress by doing it. I knew I would need a wig, so after months of cold feet I just bought a quality wig. And y'know what? Each step after got much easier because I was having fun with the whole experience. I'm not gonna say passing is unimportant, but as long as you don't go around asking if you pass, then the amount of jokes should be minimal; even back in my early days, despite looking like a man in a skirt, the only jokes I got was when I started them.
Also, asking someone that you barely know to crossplay is probably gonna be a terrible idea, unless you know he already likes to crossplay or crossdress, in which case that would probably make them suspicious about how you know that. Unless you're trying to make them go as man-in-a-dress level of crossplay as a "joke"

Wait, I think I have an even better idea than crossplaying Renko. Wriggle's not only cute, but also already androgynous and we have almost the same haircut anyways.
I guess it's not really crossplaying at this point, but I think I'll feel safer wearing shorts than a skirt, at least for now.

>> No.9663152

>>9662813
I noticed quite an interesting thing.(having been in the touhou comm for about 7+years) while it seems intuitive to think that it may be easier pulling off androgynous characters, I think it is actually extra hard to do so well. Precisely because the character is a very delicate balance of female and male traits. Any male physical traits you have stand out very obviously. I seem to recall pointing this out to a anon who wanted to cosplay Mokou on one of the touhou cosplay threads.

But enough of that, if you are down for it, make sure the clothes you have for Wiggle are very distinctively feminine cuts. It wont look good if you use a male cut for the blouse and end up squaring out your shape.

>> No.9663426

>>9663152
Oh, really? That's an interesting observation. I'm pretty much set on Wriggle, so thank you for the advice, I wouldn't have thought of it myself. The convention's way, way much more time ahead than I thought, so I have a lot of time to try out different things. And sorry for taking over the thread with all this. ;;

I have never cosplayed, I'm 175 cm tall, 34AA, and really slender. I want to buy a cosplay.
Should I aim for ones that fit my size, but might be a little short, or ones that might be loose on me, but will be better fitting on length? I'm speaking here about dresses, maid outfits, kimonos, and am worried how they would work with my pettanko chest.

It really depends on your proportions and what that outfit empathises, so there's no catch all answer here.
If you know how to alter a costume, the better fit in lengh is more important, if you have a decently feminine shape the fit in width is more important.
Eiyher way, I strongly recommend wearing a padded bra, a flat chest shouldn't be your biggest concern unless you're planning on something like Kill La Kill.

They stand with feet slightly closer together and rarely pointed widely outward. Not hunched shoulder but "small" shoulders, not stretching them wide. Their stride/walk is a little different- this is an easy way to pass. small/closed body language- arms crossed not in an angry type way but more "shy"

Even if you aren't shy dont worry that you are playing a role that isnt you- to pass with posture you have to mimic the small mannerisms.

From the second pic, you have a great figure, but in the first your shoulders look strangely wide.
My best guess is that the higher sitting skirt makes your upper body look shorter, which in turn messes with the ratio of height to width.
The dress flares out a bit in the lower section while the skirt hangs pretty straight, which doesn't help either.
Overall I wouldn't worry too much, looks fine.

lol dude, chill. I'm MtF and even I think you're being an ass right now.

There's a very well documented problem with creepy guys invading j-fashion communities (specifically lolita for the most part) for fetish reasons. It's not "anti-male sentiment" it's women being concerned for their own safety and privacy because a lot of the creeps who try to wedge themselves into the community are pretty unstable people which can make them dangerous in a lot of ways, and even the ones who aren't dangerous are still disgusting to be around because nobody really wants to have to interact with people who they know are using them as some kind of prop or fuel for their bizarre fetish fantasies.

The fact that you're so defensive about this makes me wonder if you're one of these fetishists yourself desu. If you aren't then you don't really have anything to worry about because you're not who they're talking about, but you should still listen to what they're saying to make sure you aren't unintentionally doing things that are making the people around you uncomfortable.

Was posting mostly for the sake of shitposting, partially because I get sick of either sex being entirely tossed in with the worst of the rest of it for no other reason than clarification of the point's too much work.
So to speak truly, I have zero interest in J-fashion, in this thread for general crossplay discussion, and only for the purposes of having a wider array of characters to dress up as (as in no sexual component). So no, I'm not here to fetishizing anything. Nor do I like creepy / mentally unwell (to the point of actively being a problem) people worming their way into groups for nefarious reasons.
The point of the shitposting was to exemplify how bad what was being said is when lumping entire groups together with little to no mind for the impossibility of doing so with any accuracy. Like most things in dealing with other people, the only way to solve issues is on a case by case basis, and finding a correlation between a type of person of whom is a tiny part of a group magnitudes larger and a number of cases of said tiny part being generally terrible people with your group past factual observation is fairly shitty on the part of the person making the observation.

You can also say that a woman joining into a all male group of something will just about always result in major drama that tears the group apart, or say that x race is the reason crime rates are so high while pulling police statistics up, but doing that doesn't serve to help anything.
My point continues to be that lumping groups of people together that otherwise by a massive amount are completely unrelated does not help with whatever problems you might be having with that particular tiny subset of people, because doing so undermines trying to fix the problem and makes you a massive git.

May be true, and I do try to keep away from the cutesy tiny characters for those reasons, but I still wholeheartedly enjoy dressing up.
Heck, even when I did it for the first time and wasn't passing for shit it was still fun, and I don't regret a single moment.
That's the only advice I can give - if you long for it, go for it, it's well worth the experience.

On the other hand, I'm the guy who thought the bump limit was 300 after spending years posting in the same thread, so I can't exactly fault you for disregarding my opinions.

This is not the best thread to ask for it.
Check out taobao. There are tons of shops that offer decent wigs in afforable price range.

>tinted cc cream for daily wear
How easy is to spot those? I want to get rid of the shadow but at the same I don't want anyone to notice I'm wearing make up, specially other guys.

Just be the faggot that you are and wear the makeup. Stop being so terrified and self conscious. If someone notices just play it cool.

It's weird to me that 4ch is known for being anti-SJW and yet there are a bunch of closet faggots here too afraid to be seen in public with a small amount of makeup on their face.

Cute neck, plus you've got nice broad shoulders. Swimming would probably be up your alley
