...at least the sweetheart cut is nice on the OP? Feels kind of dark and more mature. I also agree about the lace but IW never seems to be flawless there.

The print is definitely really off here thanks to just being on top as well. I think a solid black top instead of the print would've been so perfect.

I really wanted to like it but I just feel like they're both missing that..."something". The lace is nice, but eh, same with the cut and print. It's nice, but it's lacking some sort of detail to put it over the top, like embroidery or detailing on the sheer neck and sleeve parts or custom lace just for the print or something. I feel like dresses nowadays aren't bad, but like for example I have IW's old Angel Print JSK and the waist ties are cut so the ends are scalloped like little angel wings. Details like that are things I miss in dresses.

The OP has cross lace, I don't know if that counts as custom enough since cross lace (with proper crosses and not four-petal flowers) is pretty rare.

Personally I prefer if they focus on quality rather than gimmick. The cuffs have faceted plastic buttons that are supposed to look edgy, I think, but I wish they'd just gone for normal buttons with better quality instead.

Has IW always been this big? The bust listed is 99cm for L size and 95cm for M size, but it really doesn't look that big on the mannequin.

I'm still kind of new to Lolita, Ive got a decent collection of JSk's and OP's but I need to start getting accessories and other necessities. I know bodyline is much maligned for their dress's- but does any one know if their blouses or petticoats are of ay decent quality?

They normally don't, but sometimes they get a hit release that everybody wants and then it all goes to hell. The VIPs also get first shot at it, so some releases/colourways do occassionally go up fully sold out with no chance for us plebs. If that happens I suggest you mail in an order anyway, if they get enough orders they do actually do a second run of it.

I saw that and it's nice but not what I consider custom I guess? Like I said overall it's not a bad dress, but for me personally small details like embroidery push a dress over into the the territory of quality design for me, because it shows they're thinking about the ways to make it more special. Same with custom lace or buttons, little things that show they thought thoroughly about the design. But I will take quality over gimmick any day, certainly.

It's possible to like more than one substyle, you know? I own plenty "exciting" dresses of almost every style, but sometimes more wearable dresses are nice too. In this case I just really love spider lilies and always hoped for a nice print of them.
Like the other anons said, you should lurk more. /cgl/ always varies in taste and changes with every trend and fad.

Japanese sizing is different. You need to measure you big to too ankle, the length is your shoe size.

Bodyline has some, but the heel and plateau is higher. You can try AnTaiNai, not sure about their current collection, but they do custom sizing/orders, so if you order from them directly you could ask to not get the bows added if you seem good ones with bows.

What's the best material for MeLikesTea petticoats? The hard tulle looks so good and poofy when new, but apparently it deflates fastest.

The voile doesn't look as poofy when new, but i t supposedly never die, so would that be the most worth it? Of course there's organza as well, but I'm hesitant because my Bunny House organza petticoat has almost totally died after almost one year.

Also adding that I've never own or known anyone who owned their "hybrid poof monster" but I can believe that the concept of mixing the two materials works because I do similar things with my own petticoats. I have a tulle petticoat that's kind of garbage on its own (doesn't form the perfect shape, deflates over course of day) but when layered over the chiffon/voile lolita petticoats I have the stiffness it provides is really great for heavy velveteen dresses that otherwise might cause A-line petticoats to sag into a bell-shape at the edges. Same principle as a lot of dresses having a tulle inbuilt petticoat, I guess.

I wear a lot of gothic/classic/oldschool but I do wear sweet sometimes and I have a lot of heavy velveteen pieces that need serious poof. I tend to stack pettis though. Since I wear a lot of styles with different silhouettes I've always preferred to have, say, 2 pettis that I can combine to look super poofy or wear alone for dresses with less, than to have one that's going to be less versatile. If literally your entire wardrobe is sweet dresses with the same sort of weight and required poof you're probably not going to benefit from doing that. Even so, I think it is generally better to buy two petticoats if you're new so you can stack when you need extra volume but also have the option of normal poof too, even if the second one is just a cheaper offbrand one like the Malco Modes one the other anon suggested (bell layered under most A-lines will still form a bell shape).

I don't think it's deflated since I got it a while back, but they do deflate a bit over the course of the day (inevitable unless you use a hoop skirt). I have four in different lengths and styles so if you don't mind waiting I could post some pics in a couple of days (not home til then).

I just checked and here's what I have btw, I've just realised it's less useful to you than I thought because I forgot I only have one bell-shaped MLT petti, since I still mostly rely on an older deflated bell I bought from Classical Puppets like 3-4 years ago. I recently bought their standard 50cm bell-shaped petticoat with 5 layers from them, then I also have a 55cm 2-layer petticoat and two 45cm 3-layer petticoats in different colours. They're all voile and all visually constructed with 3 tiers.

If you're ordering tonight I'd definitely get 5+ layers (or two petticoats) for sweet, their voile 5-layer is poofier than my CP one was but still has me wanting to layer with some dresses.

I screw them up into a ball in a ziploc bag because I think they maintain volume better that way with the layers scrunched up instead of lying flat (my first MLT order came in ziploc bags, the second one didn't and I'm yet to find ones the right size). When I've been on trips and stored them flat, in drawers, etc they've lost volume. However, the volume I'm getting from scrunching them up and shaking them out before use might be a kind of false volume that's part of why mine deflate over the course of the day, so YMMV.

In general with petticoats I screw up anything that can be screwed up, it's only with tulle where I don't want to make permanent creases that I store it flat/upside down/whatever.

I have the hybrid poof monster, bought it back in early 2015. I think mine might actually be the light purple one in the stock photos since she put those up at the same time I commissioned it. It hasn't deflated, it's all tulle and all poof despite being stored shoved on a shelf, worn in a plane, worn under layers of velvet etc. It just kinda...fluffs back up? I also have the poof monster, which has deflated a little but is still a decent A line. I think the sheer amount of fabric in the hybrid poof monster keeps it from deflating.

I was unimpressed with my bunny house petti, I bought the "XL" back in 2014 and it had deflated within 4-5 months to a very minimal poof bell shape. I only wear lolita once a week to once a fortnight due to work, so it wasn't like there was heavy use involved. That being said I've heard good things subsequently so maybe she started putting more fabric or more layers in them since then, the organza in mine is very minimally gathered.

It's really weird. For the vast majority of people she'll get along fine but the people she has built walls against are respected/known and have their own ott thing going on, and even styled drastically different they'll tend to be other black/spooky/gothic ott girls who are lovely people themselves.

I made it like that on purpose, to show a GOOD example could make classic look versatile (as you had given a bad example). The google searches where to show that a BAD example could make gothic and classic look all the same too (because that is what your bad example did with classic).

Also, themes like ero, sailor, etc. Since when are it substyles of bigger substyles? If anything, it are themes or styles in itself. You're the first I hear talking about substyles in substyles, and it just seems wording to make it less obvious you're wrong, as there are many themes in classic.

Ever had a time where you just feel confused about lolita?
Like if you really look good in it, or what kind you like/suit best (prints? non prints? both? sweet? gothic? sweet in darker colors? old school?).
I don't even know what I truly love and havent bought a thing in 3 months. I used to be utterly passionate about lolita as a teenager but had very little money and now that I have more of it, I'm not as passionate even though I really want to be.

That and I'm starting to "feel" old (23), it's still a young age but I feel like i'm not really a ~~pretty maiden desu~~ anymore and am getting closer and closer to the "christmas cake" age
