I'm flying in from a few states over. I've heard great things about the Lolita/J-fashion aspect of it, and I've applied to be in the fashion show, so I'm really excited. No it's not. It's always on Sunday. It's in your best interest to wear a main piece from the brand but not required if you're wearing other things from the brand. You need to have a Badge to attend the Tea Party (or any event at AWA for that matter). The Tea is always on Sunday afternoon. Sometimes it has been at 1 PM other times at 4 PM. Cost will probably be $80. That was the cost 3 years ago when BtSSB was there before. Tickets usually don't go on sale until the last moment.

Goth-anon, you can pick up like some socks from their booth and you'll be good to go. Baby is a little stricter about this than other brands so it may be enforced. I attended the Baby tea party a few years ago, and it was sort of awkward to see girls decked out in non-Baby or AatP. Like full AP coords. You needed to have at least one piece by the brand, but I feel like it's impolite to wear JSKs or OPs by someone else. Considering that the previous "organizer" was dropped from AWA after the complete fiasco of mismanagement and just laziness of 2014 when Baby was there, you're incorrect. It's as pricey as it is because A: the Galleria charges an arm and a leg for catering and doesn't allow outside vendors, B: the brands also have their fees on top of that, and C: there still needs to be a bit of money to budget for decor and things like that.

Baby tea tickets sold out incredibly quickly, there were none at the door available to purchase. There wasn't even a lolita tea party in 2015, there was a Galaxxxy party instead, and last year tickets didn't sell well because Meta apparently isn't good enough for most of the comm. Many of the tickets were purchases by out-of-state lolitas who came to the con.

Fellow NCer here and AWA is pretty good. Gets crowded levels like AZ does around the main floor but it's got a lot of nice places to take pictures both indoors and outdoors. Greyhound is pretty cheap as well if you're doing public transport.

There's cosplays of characters from more than just anime. I like cons because almost everyone is friendly and chatty and it's just a good time.
