How do I start dressing in a lolita manner?
I have no makeup skills, and I absolutely don't know what to do.
Is there a casual lolita look I could go for?
Not quite frills, but a cute sweater and shorts, or something. Outfit suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, general lolita thread. <3

Not actually. I'm new to this board, however, so I might seem like a complete retard right now.

This is probably bait but here we go
- we already have a lolita general thread, learn to read
- t-shirts and shorts aren't lolita, either stick to the rules of the fashion or gtfo, if you wanna go for lolita-inspired clothing try larme or otome
- learn 2 make-up unless you wanna look like a baby molerat, half of us look deceased without it and it's basically a requirement for most j-fashion

Not retarded, but your new is really showing. It would have been better if you lurked more- there's already a general lolita thread, for instance.

It's possible or even likely your thread will get deleted, but if it doesn't, here you go kid. Casual lolita is not sweater and shorts. Shorts will never be a thing with lolita. Casual lolita is still incredibly frilly by normie standards- petticoat, actual lolita skirt (not a skirt like the one in your picture), blouse or cutsew, girly shoes, legwear of some sort, accessories, etc. Pic related, I think it's a good example of casual lolita- you've got a skirt and petti so the silhouette is there, but there's a cutsew instead of an actual blouse and minimal accessories along with ankle socks instead of otks or tights. If that's too much for you, maybe general casual girly J-fash or gyaru would be more your style.

People will argue over makeup, but I believe you've got at least have some kind of basics down and wear SOMETHING or you're going to look washed out and off. Lolita is kind of loud, and with all you're wearing, it can very easily drown out your facial features or at the very least come off as looking unfinished (unpolished personal grooming with more "formal" clothing). There's currently a makeup thread in the catalogue, you might check that out.
