What's the most over-priced, fever dream number you've ever seen attached to something Lolita, Jfashion or Cosplay related?

I saw this today and I was just like... Dude. No way, dude.

She won't take offers and won't split the set either. The last one sold on LM was only $500, but I found mine a few months ago for only $300.

I find the special set a little less ugly but otherwise yeah, it's the ugliest carnival print AP has ever made in my opinion.

I think it's the "historic" nature of this print that makes it popular; I feel like it and Milky Planet basically represent an era of Lolita; kinda like how Iron Gate represents Gothic Lolita.

>>9433536
I've seen it on closet child for around that much as an individual main piece; but only recently. Like, a year ago I still saw it listed around $400 or more. Now it's definitely often going for 3-something.

I don't blame her for not splitting the set, I hate doing that with my sets because extra shipping and fees get annoying. Plus sometimes I just like to send shit out all at once and not have to deal with multiple packages (and the packing for them) or buyers.
However I do think she should maybe lower that price by $100 or so. If the dress goes for $300-400 and the accessories about $50 (?) apice...

Honestly like 90% of the time someone tries to resell their Bodyline I laugh. They always want to sell it for what they bought it for while the prices on the sites are super low. Recently saw Cinderella Bunny jsk posted for $65. It's $20 brand new on the website. These people are high.

I have a bunch of Bodyline from my younger days but it's really just more worthwhile to just keep it and wear casually or around the house than try to sell it.

>> No.9433636

>>9433621
If you ever think of selling it, a good tactic / charity thing to do is to sell it as part of a "beginner" or "first" coord. I saw a set marketed as that for $80; it included well-matched OTKs, blouse, wrist cuffs and headbow. I liked it because it gives me hope that some newb wont look so ita.

>> No.9433648

Why does nobody ever talk about that one booth in the dealers room at Anime Boston? They literally sell Bodyline for $180, iirc they were named Aliks Cosplay.

ugh, i want this dress. i've been wanting it for a very long time, but even if i do have the money for it, i would never buy it at this price. it's been there for months, almost a year i think.

We have a shop like this in Germany too, they popped up a few years ago and selling taoboa, Bodyline and replica shit for hilariously high prices, but also have some original japaneeeesu stuff from eg shimamura which they also sell for prices over which I can only laugh.

I think it looks just okay, but the special set is particularly hideous to me. That is the ugliest in-between shade of blue-purple I've ever seen. It makes me think of bad 90s fashion for some reason.

Otakon has a booth like that also, not sure if it's the same people. I silently watched a girl get ripped off there while I was buying something at the booth next to it. I sorta felt bad for her but didn't want to speak up.

This goes for around 4000-5000 yen on auctions/second hand sites.

>> No.9434074

Why do you think she overprices so much? You'd like as an independent secondhand bussienss she's losing some kind of profit from having so much merch not cycling out of her house.I mean, you can only store so much stuff! I've seen accessories and non-main pieces on her shop that are fairly priced but she's so weird about sets and main pieces.

>>9433821
Closet Child now sells that dress for $90 USD. It never sticks around long on their site, so you have to snatch it up, but it shows up there every few months, somethings several at a time, and it's now been $90 consistently the last few times I've seen it.

>> No.9434110

>>9433621
I was just laughing at the same thing. Someone mistakenly bought Bodyline socks (???) and wants back what they paid for it? And someone else is selling a Magic Tea Party blouse for like $35 with less than good condition, when I can get the new one for what, 5-10 more and no one has worn it?

Somewhat OT but I like the Japanese style of reselling more than the Western style. They recognize that the more something is used, the lower the price should be. It's easy to get Mary Magdalene and BtSSB for a better deal whereas Western sites inflate the prices even with stains and damage because burando.

This seller typically gets items and jacks the price up. She's had this set for sale for a few years, back before Lacemarket and most people were still selling on egl-comm-sales and facebook sales groups. She's going to sit on a lot of those items until she eventually lowers the price. The market is so saturated now that nobody will bite even good $100-$150 items.

Original store price means literally nothing. A man in pompeii probably paid 10 denarii for a wooden dildo, you think that factors in to the current auction price of that very same dildo?
People who try to cry "scalper!!" and cite original retail value of an item are fucking idiots who don't understand the concept of a secondhand market.

I feel them. I also bought Nameless Poem first hand at that price when it first came out and really wanted to get my money back on it when I realized it's literally the least versatile dress I've ever owned. Then ista mori re-released it seventeen times and now everyone and their mom is trying to get rid of it. Sad day.
