Most fresh cringe: Went to a "bad fanfiction" panel at a con last weekend. The panel itself was fine: appropriately awful fanfiction, spanned a variety of sources, and the panelists were funny and had good voices while reading it. The cringe was from a guy in the second row who apparently thought he was part of the panel, and instead of just laughing reacting like the rest of the audience he was constantly yelling his input at top volume. Stuff like how he was a chef so he knew better than anyone else that wet feet smelled like fresh parmesan (literally only relevant because the piece they were reading was about feet). At the end of the panel when the presenters thanked everyone for coming and jokingly apologized for "putting you through this", he had to yell that he didn't even want to be there in the first place and only attended because he was bored.

tl;dr: socially oblivious dude yells about fanfiction while others are putting on a panel

If the butler dude took a little more pride in his hair and facial expressions and got some of the clothes he is wearing tailored just a little, he would be super hot and probably one of the better-looking butlers for anime cafes. His awkwardness that you can feel might need a lot more work though.. But I always feel that once you look good you gain more confidence. SOMEONE HELP HIS BOY.

Went to a panel with Alan Tudyk and Nolan North and one guy goes up to the mic to ask how one gets into voice acting.

Then he started hogging the mic trying to impress them with his impressions of their characters. You could see them both cringing as they tried to get him to stop.

Oooooh anon that reminds me of when i went to indy pop con with my boyfriend and we went to a charles martinet panel (voice of mario and paarthunax) and these people kept coming up to the mic and saying how touched they were by him and how their life was terrible but then they heard the voice of mario and the clouds parted and a light shone on them. There are a couple of different ethnicities I can pull out just from your picture here...
With as many cons as I've been to, even in the big city, I can honestly say I don't see a huge amount of black cosplayers. The OP of the photo claims you don't see them because "white cosplayers are favored and shared over black ones." Out of all the black cosplayers that are at conventions, a handful of them actually have decent costumes.
I don't really care about people choosing to have a black cosplayers feature. But don't claim white cosplayers are picked over blacks because of the fact that they're white. If it's a good/interesting/titty costume, it will be favored regardless of skin color.

I don't think this is necessarily true everywhere. I've been to cons on the east coast and in the south and there have been plenty of black cosplayers. As I mentioned earlier, it's not really ~so rare~ now to see black (or any other ethnicity) cosplayers. Cosplay isn't as niche as it used to be.

I also don't think it's the ridiculous of a concept that white/asian girls are more preferred. I mean, it's true in most cases and you can't say that most of the girls in that photo have great costumes. It definitely IS all about how cute you are/if you're half-naked nowadays. Doubly so if you happen to be a minority.

the only 'progress' she's posted is her buying the PVC pipe. I'm assuming the commissioner made the actual trident and end piece, and then sent them to her so she could buy her own pipe to adjust to her height. At the very least, that seems like what a commissioner would do (because obviously if he sends her a staff according to his own height, it might be way too tall)

All other progress on her twitter is just different shots of the trident with literally no difference inbetween them.

I agree on your point of sometimes not feeling up to the entire taking pictures and socialising with strangers thing, if it's been a long/bad day, but there's much more polite ways to deal with it than pretending to be happy to oblige, then rudely blowing off someone who's excited to see you(r costume). "Sorry, please no pictures right now, thanks for understanding" takes little effort to say.

It's blowing up because she cannot take blame for anything, she can't apologise like a normal person, instead everything negative is always everyone else's fault. I might be taking this too personal since I really can't stand people who can't own up to their own little mistakes, especially when it's about dumb shit like cosplay. Again, like you say, she's done worse stuff, but the video and how she's dealing with it is a nice view into her personality, and it's not pretty.

well cosplay is a visual hobby and the cosplayer themselves is the most important part of that, you are basically modeling. sometimes people forget that they aren't just a walking mannequin for the costume they made and they get upset that people laugh at them for being fat/ugly. truth is, people judge them for being fat/ugly no matter what, but when you wear a costume in public it's basically saying "look at me, i want attention!" so it makes the irony of them being unattractive more hilarious and people are going to point it out more.

the former gets a free pass because people are wired to prefer people who are healthy-looking and have sexually attractive traits. also, being too lazy to make a decent costume is very different from being too lazy to take care of yourself

both are cringey but i think the latter is more cringey because it's always better to prioritize your health than your weeaboo hobby
