Happy new year everyone, who's going this weekend?

>> No.9306356

I'll be going!

>> No.9306404

I might be heading over this weekend, I can't wait to see Lotus Juice, Teddyloid and Mega64!

This con has great guests so I'm going too!

>> No.9306848

I don't think I'll be going. Last time I went felt like such a rip off. Is there going to be any lolita/jfash events?

>> No.9307064

>>9306848
I'm not sure actually this convention seems to be more focused on actual anime than Japanese fashion. Which to me is a nice change from what we normally get.

>> No.9307179

I'm going!

>> No.9307312

I'm going, not cosplaying because my stuff isn't done yet, but what's everyone else doing?

>> No.9308124

May be going on Sunday. Anyone planning on cosplaying as FFXV characters that day?

>> No.9308409

No jfashion or lolita show this year. They're doing us a favor by not putting on a half assed cringe fest like other cons do. I'm sure you can look forward to Saboten's next "Fashon" show later this year.

Plan the meetup.

Savage! Yet so true.

>> No.9309940

>>9308409
Seriously thank goodness there isn't one.
I feel like the jfashion shows at saboten aren't even about jfashion anymore.

>> No.9310277

>>9308409
As much as I like Jfashion, it gets pretty annoying here. I think someone should try out a day event strictly for JFashion and vendors elsewhere. I like that Taiyou is narrowing down. If only the KPop can dwindle down to nothing now.

I hope that thing going around twitter about dojima getting the full back tattoo of the waifu is true lmao

>Dojima plz confirm

not sure if the person checking IDs with the Osumatsu Ita bag is on here but your bag was really cute and I'm sorry I ended up attracting weebs to you

Anyone else feel like this con was...lacking?

The panels just seemed bad and there wasn't much to do. I'm upset there wasn't a tabletop gaming room either.
I was bored most of the con and ended up leaving by 9 last night

>> No.9313252

>>9313117
The issue is that unlike other cons that funnel people into events and panels (turning boring shit into fun shit) the Taiyou crew lets people sprawl out all over the floors inside and outside. It turns the community event into a place where teens can BS with their friends without their moms hearing (aka the mall experience). It's detrimental to the con, but I met some unique folks.

Went in 2016 with my boyfriend, it was just a bunch of kids running around in half assed cosplays, the one panel we wanted to see ran late because the kids in the panel were yelling and memeing past their alloted time
I guess it must be a lot of fun if youre <20, but as an adult I give the con a 4/10. The vendor hall was ok, it was clean.

>> No.9313403

>>9313117
Yeah, the panels we attended were pretty disorganized and uninteresting, like these people have no idea what they're doing and have no plan.

The only panel group that was consistantly great were the True Damage guys, and Mahou Shoujo.

Weeaboo.png sucked.

Sorry, but the poor man's Rooster Teeth are at least consistently funny.

>> No.9313621

Haven't seen a lot of people posting about this con this time round. Was it not fun or something? I didn't go cause of work, but if the general consensus is not good then I don't mind skipping this year.

>> No.9313746

Guess That Hentai panel was extremely unorganized. Panelists didn't seem to know how jeopardy works. Most panels are basically "well, it's something to watch while we sit since our feet hurt like hell."

Strangely, I would say this con was the best one I went to in recent years. That's just because of hanging out and making new friends, though. Vendor hall was better than Sabo imo, and there were some nice cosplays. A little too much Love Live though imo.

>> No.9313752

>>9313621
It's because it was kinda boring. If you where not there to see a guest then there wasn't much to do but chill with friends. Not many New cosplays. Kinda just sabo cosplays that got worn again. I only went because my friend had an extra pass for running a booth. It was maybe a one day con of that.

>Guess That Hentai panel was extremely unorganized.
The whole con wasn't organized, it literally felt like management got up an left. The hentai panel was bad, and I don't mean cringe bad. I mean it was literally "let's put jewtube videos on while we sit here and watch".
>all those people walking out
I don't think I have ever seen so many walk out at once from a panel

>>9313117
The con felt like it was thrown together last minute. I gave up around the same time.

>>9313621
>Was it not fun or something?
The people were fun, and the vendor hall was pretty decent. The problem was every building was disconnected from another and staff seemed to be like they didn't understand their heads from asses. I think the biggest problem just comes from their choice of location, building hopping is okay when done right and having staff communicate AND laying out proper maps.

I dunno, I've been to some small cons and this just felt shitty
