I don't know if I need size M or L (getting a breast reduction) for IW Forest Harvest Festival, but when I find it I will probably sell my pink one. I saw the AP skirt on LM but it was missing the detachable bow which I want. And here's hoping the Ista Mori dress restocks one day.

AATP doesn't really release much in brown and their pirate stuff tends to be OTT. Brown is reserved for steampunk, apparently.
Hats can vary secondhand. I've seen them go for over market price, or for $10.
Your best bet is probably settling for offbrand. If you're dead set on AATP, you can probably get brown or pirate, just not both.

This is a gorgoeus dress. The print iss running. The only downside is that the bodice is quite short, it's not great for huge boobs, and the neck hole is quite tight. I had to sell mine on because the neck was just too small for my liking even without the blouse. The blouse however fit perfectly. Good luck Anon finding this.

I need some advice pretty fast, sorry for blogging.

My dream dress usually goes for about $800-$1000. I just found someone selling it for a third of that, but in my 3rd favorite colorway.

It's... ok? I don't love the color. I have things that will match it but my favorite colorway makes my heart melt. The other colorways are just... eh. I love the dress, but I don't go all dokidoki.

Unfortunately I will never want to shell out $800-1000 on it because I would be too afraid to wear it at that point. I don't see that price dropping until maybe 5 years from now.

Should I just bite a bullet and get the cheaper, 3rd colorway choice one and put my ideal dream dress to rest? Or just wait however long it takes for my favorite the value to go down, despite the years?

She is selling it for 1/3rd the cost because she just wants a quick sale for some holiday funds and doesn't care, however I don't see this colorway going for much more than that in the western market, maybe +100. In the eastern market though it goes for the usual 800.

What do?

I did this once, almost exact same situation except I was unable to coord my 3rd fav colorway, while my first would have been very easily coorded. I went for it and got the 4rd fav colorway for cheap and never wore it. But, I was able to sell it back for the same price at least!

I've been in a similar situation before, and honestly I say go for it. If it's such a good deal, then you'll make your money back no issue if it doesn't work out and you need to resell it. Like the anon above me has said, it may sit and you may not wear it, but there's also a chance that once you get it the color could look great on you and be easier than expected to work with. It happens when you have a lot of dresses, wear them a lot and experiment a lot. Anything pinnable gets taken off or moved around, even waist ties sometimes gets removed if it's the way of a cardi or whatever. If you don't have some kind of system set up to catch all the extra bits and return them to the dress once you've done the laundry, things can get pretty messy pretty fast, especially if you do it very often with very many different dresses, or if you happen to move houses, a box of detachable things can easily get misplaced.

Or, if you have a dress that's cute except it has an apron that makes people do a double take everytime you wear it, you might take it off and then forget where you put it when you want to resell the dress six years later.

2017 is already starting amazing for me, I was so happy when I saw the Metamorphose Flare Coat on Closet Child today~! A definite dream jacket, and while I had pined for the military green version, honestly the black will go with way more. It's missing the gold cord but that's an easy replacement. Such a good price too!

I'm curious, how did 2016 go for people in terms of dream dresses? I got three (Ista Mori Nameless Poem in Black - I don't care if it's overdone, Le Petit Chaperon Rouge JSK I in Green, IW Rose Panel 93cm JSK in Black) with LPCR and Rose Panel being dream finds, though I did buy quite a lot impulsively I really don't need. I need to be firm on that dream wardrobe! ...And I also need to get more accessories to actually coord them better, getting the main pieces is nice and all but I need to be able to do them justice.

SO it has been a crazy few weeks but I wound up buying it. The seller dropped the price again significantly since I was so indecisive, which I just couldn't believe. I could not say no.

I just got it and not only is it perfect but... I actually kind of completely adore it?! The color is so lovely and unlike anything I have ever seen/owned but it fits perfectly in my wardrobe. Also the price is insane, for it and the matching HB I got it for far less than what it retailed for, never mind the fact that it goes for about $800 second hand. It was NWTs too.

I am just... so happy with it. So thank you so much for your input. It really helped me and I love it! Even if I get my first colorway choice in the future, I feel I will struggle over the fact of if I should sell it or just have two because I wound up liking this color so much.

Most, if not all auction sites, show pageviews, bookmarks and how many people are watching an item (if they have that kind of system) to sellers. I don't think you can infer their reasons for taking down the auction, unless you actually asked?

Imo online auction format is terrible, it should work like an actual auction - It goes live at a certain time and if you miss it, you miss it. It should be five/seven/however many days of an advertised listing, and an option for BIN if that's what the seller wants. The people who really want it are gonna put in the time to snipe it at the end anyway.

Although this really isn't too heavily enforced in Japan, if there's no bid then it's not too uncommon for them to take the auction down or even raise the price for some unknown reason. Putting in a safety bid is generally a good idea, especially on western auctions that give you the option to take the auction down before there are bids.

In general I'll bid once or a couple of times on an item before it ends, but will stay well below my max bid. This just makes sure the auction stays up, then will snipe it like usual. Besides, there's no point in "putting in the time" to snipe an auction that has auto-extension, though I wouldn't bid too early on those so people don't clash their maxes early on.

You missed the part where irl real auctions sometimes don't end on time because of last minute bidders.

Interestingly enough, yja does implement extension of ending time to prevent sniping. If you bid within the last 5 minutes, the ending time is extended by another 5 minutes, giving other people time to react and bid more. I've seen some fierce bidwars where the auction closes a full hour or more after the original ending time because people kept bidding over each other.

I actually quite like that system. The people who really want it are given the opportunity to prove exactly how much they want it with their wallets, rather than how lucky their sniping bots were.

I suspect it's to do with the pageview to bid ratio. If there's a lot of interest from lurkers, they know they're going to get into a last 30 sec bidding war between snipers, which they probably perceive as less profitable so they up the price to compensate.

Or maybe they think they've priced it wrong and made the item into a lemon.

I don't really get this? How is someone willing to pay more if they just stick in a lazy bid and get out sniped anyway? Actually, interest is directly correlated with the amount of bids on an item. People have a pretty intuitive grasp of supply and demand; make people think something is in short supply and massive demand and they'll adjust how much they're willing to pay accordingly. Auction sites are designed specifically to exploit this because it benefits the site. Even IRL auctioneers speak the way they do because it tricks people into bidding more than they originally planned to pay.

Ebay is especially insidious, why else would it notify people who've been outbid? when you're the highest bidder it even says "But you might be outbid raise your max bid now!" and the "X views per hour" thing; It's to purposefully incense people and create artificial urgency and make them irrationally bid against one another way before the end of the auction, because perceived competition always increases both the amount people are willing to pay, and the amount they actually pay.

This is sort of related, but one time a seller with a good rating on mbok listed my ultimate dream dress using only a stock photo. I asked my shopping service to contact the seller and ask for photos and I got them within a day. Everything went well and I got the item. I don't know why so many listings are only stock photo on Japanese sites. Maybe we are more paranoid as a community about scams since we have markup costs to pay as well.

Tl;dr if you really want it, ask for proof photos and condition.

The last few times it came up I've seen it go for $100. The dress itself was a 10,000 yen LP dress. That's why I offered her that. In fact, aside from that one French girl, even western sellers sell it for around $100. I have up to $300 to spend. Haggling especially when you say "I don't know what this dress goes for make me an offer" isn't rude at all. It's normal to say "hey, that's a bit low I paid x amount, I would consider something closer to that" or even "I have another offer for x" and then I could easily make a better offer. I have done haggling as a buyer and a seller in lolita for years. In fact, it pisses me off when people refuse to haggle and just say "oh I don't like your price." I'm not any of the above anons and I'm not arguing with you, but this dress doesn't go for $100. Maybe it did at the time of release, but for as long as this dress has been out the black has gone for above retail, even in LJ days. Masquerade Theater originally came out in 2010 as a JSK, OP, and skirt, has a special in-store bustle front JSK that came in black only, and then a couple years ago the original JSK cut (what anon posted) was rereleased at the Yokohama store and online. It's rare, but somewhat attainable rare if you've got the cash to throw at it. Unlike the red JSK which I've only seen for sale a handful of times.

I know because it's my dream dress too.

Saw this dress when I first started researching lolita.

Fell in love with the fashion because of it, but unfortunately only with the mint colorway and jabot cut.

At this point, it would probably be the only truly sweet print in my closet, but it's just so amazing.
