Do you mean how to make the hat or how to keep it on? I'm afraid I can't help you much with the former but with the latter, try hair combs like pic related. One or two should be enough.
As for fabric, I've seen one cosplayer that used some sort of satin for their suit but I'm not convinced it's a good alternative. Even if you use high quality satin, it doesn't drape the same way PVC or vinyl does.

as a short skinny dude, i've never thought about cosplaying any jojo characters.. but having picked up the manga, the new art for all the characters on the covers are much more realistically proportioned. i'm probably going to do young jonathan on the left, and take pictures with my friends dalmatian

Asking here because the help thread wasn't too helpful. Thoughts on this colors for the hand? I'm torn between doing it in the same color as the uniform, or making it in a contrasting color like say, purple.

Because this is jojo, you could basically do anything, but really it depends on what kind of feel youd like to have. If you want to go with something brighter you could have hot pink accents on the hand, or make him different shades of brown or silver etc. for a more earthy feel. If youre really stumped you can mess around with a color wheel for a while until you find something to match the green that youre satisfied with.

where do I even begin with kakyoin's wig? I've never really done any wig styling except for some basic trimming and bang styling. Should I get a shorter wig and do the weird bang with wefts or should I cut a long? should I worry about the weird hairline and try to get a lace front, do some sort of glued hairline, or not worry about it? should I just say fuck it and try to commission it? I don't know any advice would be good at this point

Fellow kakyoin cosplayer here! They way I did his wig was by getting a shorter wig (specifically a Jett from arda wigs) and sewing in the wefts for his hair noodle. It's easiest way to go about it porbably. If you are really worried about his hairline you could always do a glued hairline, though I personally didn't bother going that extra mile.

Did anyone here really struggle to get into Jojo?? I've really been trying but getting nowhere. I love the style, look and designs used in Jojo and I love Joseph, young and old. One draw back to this entire series though, the creator seems to hate animals.

I really want to love this show and cosplay the amazin females but I cant get past this.

This is a Jojo thread though, so let's not get too off topic with this subject.

My advice to anon is to just stick to the manga and not the anime, as it's easier to deal with when it isn't animated. It's a brilliant story, and animal violence really shouldn't stop you from loving it. It's just a way to make the villains unlikable, and it works.

I am definitely with >>9251182 on the idea of using Gappy color schemes as base for a Kira. If you're planning on adding splashes of Purple I think that the way the Ultra Jump Shorts design did it is my favorite accented purple Gappy. It has a lot going on while still bein' pretty conservative. I think it would fit Kira pretty well

I want to cosplay Bruno for my first real cosplay, I've done GoodWill and closet cosplay before but nothing where I actually sew things. The problem is I dont even know where to start. I hope I'm not in over my head, though I have about 4 months until the next convention I would even be able to wear this at.

My google-fu as pointed me to McCall's Civil War uniform costume pattern (pic related), but how would I go about modifying it to have the open chest? Would this even be an easy enough pattern to follow being a complete noob?

Just how I feel, but I think Bukakke's suit jacket is too weird to just make from a regular one. Look up some Bruno cosplayers and maybe see if they are willing to either let you use their patterns or buy them for a small fee.

I own this pattern and personally I don't think it's a very easy pattern for someone to follow if they're new - even me with some experience had a hard time figuring out the sleeves on the thing.

Self posting my Bruno jacket, I have used the McCall's Civil War pattern before for that exact jacket for Koichi, it's an older pattern and a pain to follow for experienced seamstresses even. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners or for a Bruno jacket.

For my Jacket I modified a womens jacket pattern from Kwik Sew I believe it was, it didn't include a lining pattern but that's easy enough to make up yourself if you know what you're doing.

While we're on the subject of Bruno, how would one go about doing the chest bind and decorative piece on his open chest?

My friend who is planning to do this cosplay is planning to skirt the whole issue by doing a genderbend (which grinds my gears because the rest of us in this group are not), but it got me wondering this question nonetheless.

Self posting yet again but I tackled this by having a compression shirt custom airbrushed to look like his chest with that tattoo on it. Worked well and many people thought it was my actual chest until looking closely.

I want to cosplay kakyoin but most of the others I have looked at said they used the simplicity matrix pattern. I've tried looking around but since it's discontinued the price is pretty high for a pattern. Is there another pattern I could use or somewhere other than ebay I could get it?
