It's definitely not too early for Halloween. I started buying stuff for my coord August 1st

>> No.9201755

It's never too early for Halloween! Mods, could we pretty please get a sticky?

I'm still in the "oh my god what am I going to be this year" phase. My boyfriend actually floated the idea of doing a couple costume, which I'm way too excited about because before now I've never had a significant other long enough to do something as sickeningly cute as a couple costume. So I'm kicking around various nerdy couple things and alternating between "THIS IS AWESOME" and "this is disgusting. I disgust myself."

>> No.9201768

God my boyfriend is dragging his feet at a couples costume, but I think it is more because he can't wear the same werewolf mask he has had since we started dating. Any cute non-mask designs? The dream costume is Lydia Deetz and Beetlejuice if he wasn't such a complainer.

>> No.9201770

Doing a "sexy" costume for the first time ever (doubles as a cosplay for next year so two birds with one stone). But I'm still going all out for it.

I have a feeling I'll be working on Halloween and I bought a really awesome dress to wear as a costume. I'm just not sure what else I should do yet (pic related is the dress).

I saw on village vanguard and ebay that there are a lot of fake drippy blood chokers, so I was thinking about maybe getting one of those and doing shironuri makeup on my face. Would it be a bad idea to do facepaint if I'm going to be working, like if my face starts to sweat while wearing greaspaint would it get nasty looking quickly?

Greasepaint won't drip if you get sweaty, that's one of its main selling points (its oil based and isn't soluble in water). However because of that it can transfer very easily if its not set with setting powder and setting spray.

I haven't settled on a Halloween costume yet... I purposely work on Halloween to dress up for most of the day, but since there's also costume contest in the workplace and I've been successful at it, people have high expectations of what I'll dress up as this year. It depends on the look you're going for. A good way to go about it is to use your local Halloween store bought witch wig as support, and just cover it with some better looking material. I'll post a few photos with pointers.

This one is easy to replicate. Even without all the lace up trim on the top of the hat, a little bit of *nice* lace or trim on the brim can go a long way.

>>9203031
This one is also on the simpler side. If you want more of a homely/neighbourhood witch look, an under-chin ribbon in some cute af look. Notice also how you can make a normal witch hat go from 0 to 100 with some nice lace, and ribbon around the cone.

If you decide to use the bought witch hat as a template or base, you don't have to stick to the normal cone either. You can extend it further and make a curl.

This one is an example of what you can do with a store bought hat with a trip to joanne/Michael's. Some nice looking fake flowers go a long way. I think the key is to not cheap out on lace and trimmings. If you aren't sure how to decorate a hat you can search up flower arrangements on google and go off that. This one mixes mesh, flowers, feathers, and ribbon.

Oh I kind of never answered your actual question. I don't think you'll ever find a nice witch hat commercially. I've only ever seen really nice ones on Taobao. It isn't too hard to make it yourself though.

The one thing I can't decide is whether to go for the white or purple suit. Purple looks really striking but I can probably get more mileage out of a nice white suit. I know I can get a cheap purple polyester suit stateside for about 80 bucks, probably can get a white one cheaper at a thrift store. I've been trawling pop-up Halloween stores but no luck so far. Any tips on fabric choices? I found this tutorial and I think it's pretty straightforward but if someone else has a better one I'd be glad to look at it! The reference material shows the white undershirt to have looser sleeves than she made so I'll use one of my shirts as a reference for that.

If anyone has recommendations on where to buy the hair clips or black shoes I'd appreciate that too!

Maybe you should pick a theme (steam, goth, vampire/blood, etc.) and/or color scheme (black/white, black/gray, etc.) and run with it. If you've got a theatrics store around you can often sample them in store and mix on the back of your hand. PAX is just standard colour theory of mixint acrylics to match your body paint.

>>9207426
For reference, 2ml will usually cover your face + neck but not much more, so 8ml minimum if you don't use PAX. But you'll want to do at least one face make up test, so try and go for something like a 20ml tub if you can.

Also depends on how close you are to Ursulas body type. More body = more skin = more paint.

Planning on doing Spike (BTVS)! No idea when/where to wear him but whatever. Most difficult part is coat and make up, but I did find myself a coat that's pretty close...

It is however 1) a tad stiffer leather than I'd like, 2) lacking the pattern piece going down on the back of the shoulders (don't mind, it still looks good and it's not a vital detail), 3) lacking the cuffs of the canon jacket. I tend to get hooked up about details, but I could use an outside eye on whether it's worth adding a temporary thing for the cuffs or not? It's a really nice jacket and I don't want to ruin it with my meh sewing skills (especially since I don't really know how to work leather), but I'm not sure doing a deattachable pair of cuffs would be worth the effort, or even viable seeing as it's, well, leather.

Also, from my experience the only leather you'll want to grease are shoes, but I did have someone suggest doing it to soften the leather of the jacket. If anyone got experience with if there's a good option aside from just wearing it with love that'd be great!

i'm assuming you are dressing as a plague doctor. and not some sort of guy just wearing a mask. a tricorn wouldn't really fit with the whole plague doctor look, finish it off w a wide brim hat, cloak, and boots. plague doctors didnt wear peacoats lol

Honestly, you might be able to do it with the cheap (cheaper the better) black cotton from joanns and attach with prosaid. But I don't think there would be enough room between your eye and the fabric to see/open your eyes.

You probably should just cover your eyelid with the black body paint and close your eyes for photos.

I understand where you're coming from, I just don't think it's feasible.

Go to a fabric shop, find a nice, matte fabric, hold against your face to test see-through, buy, use latex to stick to your face.

Most SFX make up (or make up, period) won't last and look good for 12hrs.

Or just paint your eyelids and close them for photos.

Me and a group of people are going as an RPG questing party. (Not necessarily these guys.) So far we have A male rogue a female bard(fae folkish maybe) and a male wizard. There will probably be more members Of other typical classes. I don't know what type of clothes we should wear that can be semi easily found. I was thinking woven Henley shirts were tunic like. The major cities in Japan celebrate Halloween big time. There will be a lot of clubs having parties and groups of people dressing as the same character. As in, you'll see a group of Marios or a group of ballerinas. There will also be a lot of trash which is my only complaint. There aren't enough trash cans for holidays like that.

You should dress up, have a lot of fun, and bring your camera. I always ask to take people's pictures and a lot of people ask for my photo too. Many people also surprise me and want to suddenly practice their English with me.

Long time lurker first time poster so hopefully the pic's resolution is decent and readable.

Anyway, I've been morbidly inspired by tibetan sky burials & zoroastrian towers of silence recently so I'm working on a black and gold vulture themed sorta gothic lolita(?) coord called Death n Taxes.

The accessories are still subject to change right now. Almost everything is within my reach + budget except for the virgo/earth/mercury necklace and the rib cage corset (it's a custom commission). There are cheaper versions of each online but they don't quite look as good though. I'm also still searching for a bunch of different gold goth/occultist/necromancer-y rings so the picture is just a placeholder for now.

The most challenging part is going to be the staff since I have to make it myself. I just want a witch doctor death shaman staff with bones, potion bottles, skulls, dried herbs, fur and other shit dangling from it and the staff of gul'dan is the aesthetically closest example I can find of what I'm going for.

I started putting this together a lot later than I should have so I'm not sure I'll finish it in time but I'm still pretty happy with this so even if I can't wear it for this Halloween I'm still going to work on it for future usage.

Man here.

Need some ideas for costumes. I'm 6'0, muscular but with enough fat to make my muscles somewhat undefined (bulking phase).

My ideas so far have been Blondie/man with no name from the good/bad/ugly and the spirit. The spirit is nice and simple and inexpensive, but i'm afraid the hat might make it look kind of dorky (fedoras having the social stigma that they do). Blondie is dope as hell, but I don't want to settle for cheap shit as my costume, and a good poncho/hat/vest will cost a lot of money.

From my experience you can get a cheap, high quality cosplay. Granted, you just need to know where to look. Usually if you buy new from ebay listings overseas for ~$100, the quality will be anywhere from bad to decent.

You can try sites devoted solely to cosplay costumes, or check out forums for used cosplays. I've had a lot of good luck doing this. I managed to get a used, high quality Sebastian Michaelis cosplay that only cost $50. I also got lucky on another site and got a Zero Kiryu cosplay on clearance brand new for $25 with $20 shipping. It was made very well and had all of the right buttons and details.

It can be done, it only needs research and a bit of patience. Good luck anon.

Hi /cgl/. I'm trying to put together a cosplay for a somewhat edgier Halloween party, but I could use some help.

I'm trying to dress as a demon/incubus (gf is going as a succubus), with pic as my template. Horns and wings and such are easy to come by, but where I'm running into trouble is the loincloth/waist wrap. I was hoping to find something that is basically a men's brief in the under layer, with a longer front cloth/leather panel panel in the front and a shorter one in the back (think a cross between 300's Leonidas and slave Leia). It'd also be nice if I could optionally add a wider belt ala Diablo III barbarian.

I'd need to buy it somewhere, as I have neither the time nor the talent to make something like that myself. Thing is, I'm not even sure what the proper name for something like that IS, let alone where I could buy it. The only things I can find are either chintzy halloween bagged costumes or full on leather kilts; I don't need that much coverage.

I know this isn't your usual jam, but any help would be appreciated.

Halloween is my 1 chance to wear a coord without being judged.
Im /fit/ and own a business that means i cannot dress up how i wish i could. But this halloween im going to dress lolita and noone can stop me. Im driving to a party a few cities away so im ready to "ironically" dress like a woman.

Can any seagulls help me with a coord? Im 5'9 with buzzed hair and a good tan from this summer. Money isn't an issue, help me please.

I tend to like classic/forest coords but im up for anything so i can play off being "ironic"

Probably gonna take you up on that layering idea. I now have 3 bulky AA battery packs dangling in my chest/stomach area(also I realized they can be held against my skin with the skirt waistband, prob not the best idea), so making some little kangaroo pockets on the shirt to hold them might be nice. My bf suggested I add some cotton to the undershirt to give the impression of a puffy sweater like Mabel owns?? What do you think?

Hey seagulls. I am hoping my post isn't lost in this MONSTER sticky, but here we go.
I come from /k/, and am having a real rough time pinning down a halloween costume. Some of my flawed ideas and past costumes:
>last few years have been witchunters, commissars, nazis. This has mainly been to reuse costume parts. It is getting tired though, so these are out.
>wanted to do beetlejuice. I look the part, can do the lines, but have a neuroses about having crap on my face. Did a Baron Samedi costume 5 yrs ago and almost went insane with the facepaint on. Beetlejuice facepaint would probably get real old 30mins into an all night party.
>Could very easily be The Dude or John Goodman's character (with 1911) from big lebowski, but people may not get it.
>luchador feels like it could be hilarious, but it is fuckin cold around here, and I couldnt go shirtless for long.

Help me, seagulls! You're my only hope! Also if anyone has costume related gun questions, I offer any assistance I can provide.
(Pic semi related. Is hot /k/osplay)

What kind of help exactly do you need? Do you have a dress? For the future you might want to start planning a coord about 2-3 months ahead because shipping takes a while

>> No.9227846

>>9227761
Its kind of hard to give advice without knowing what you look like, if you're making or buying stuff, what kind of event you're going to etc.

I'd say beetlejuice is probably the most recognizable but if you're uncomfortable with facepaint it doesn't sound like a great idea for you (although if you get good facepaint I promise you don't feel it on your face).

If you do the Dude it would help to have a group to make you look more recognizable.

If you did a luchador you could go for a cape to help with the cold, or plan on wearing that only indoors.

Yea, kangaroo pockets on the inside would be good, and would provide easy access if you need to get to the battery pack/on off switch.
Padding it might help, as it does look like a chunky sweater.. but it could also be tricky to do.. I dunno. If your runnin' short on time I wouldn't pad it, but if you got the time.. why not.
Would you use cotton batting or like pillow stuffing? Batting is flatter, but might mold to the form better.

How do I create realistic fake freckles? I want to avoid looking like pic related

>> No.9231341

>>9231318
Go to the makeup general and ask (look through the thread first though incase it's already been linked). Essentially what you want is light spots spaced out in a realistic color. Don't use liquid eyeliner and concentrate all the freckles on your nose.

This is for youmacon, not Halloween, but I'm planning on going as Izuku Midoriya. I'm going in his street clothes- jeans, a t-shirt that just says "T-shirt". I have freckles and similarly curly hair and I'm not exactly an expert so I'm calling it good enough.

The only issue is that I don't have his shoes. They look like pic related. I doubt I have time to get them online so I'm just gonna try to get them at a local shoe store, I guess.

Is there a specific kind that might work?
