Some of my favorites are
@harutamusama
@georgie_piyo
@felikawaiiko
@shiiperooo
@ruumandiyuu1437

My favorite editing apps are meitupic and linecamera.

I love 'clean' instagrams with post being of similar color or well, beautiful people in general (in my own sense of what beauty is, I don't want to offend anyone)

My account isn't cgl related, but how I deal with dark circles is that I edit them with the heal tool (spot and shades) on pixlr express (I use the online version). I also use the heal tool for any pimples. I use linecamera after for everything else (brightening, filter, etc).

You should give meitupic a try! It easily removes dark circles as well as you can also remove wrinkles and nasolabial folds

Does anyone have any tips on spicing up their feed?
I'm a lolita so there's not much I can do in terms of posting progress shots or anything like that. The closest I can get is clothing hauls or wardrobe posts.

And does anyone have tips for looking not-dead either? I look tired or soulless in all of my pictures even though I use the typical "livening" techniques like light colored/glittery makeup, highlighting to look dewy, making sure my eyes don't look droopy or half-closed, etc.

WIP photos and photoshoots. Somewhere between those two, a few detail shots or explanations of how an interesting technique was used.
Selfies in excess are annoying, a few over the course of a con are fine but slapping on wigs or costumes at home and doing selfies is lazy content and not interesting. I'm also not a fan of costests. Having things to update with often are great but don't sacrifice quality for quantity, if you can only post twice a week with progress, shoot photos, etc, then that's fine.

Does everyone seriously use apps to cover up or alter their face? I thought we were on a level playing field lol, now everyone must think 'm super ugly if I don't look perfect after being assumed to use Linecamera or whatever like everyone else. It's partially because of what >>9175051 pointed out. Back in college, I met all my friends online first. Most of the time it was because the friends I already had would introduce me to their other friends in group video chats before inviting us out. SEVERAL people told me that they were surprised that I am not as pretty as they were expecting me to be. Low quality webcam at a slightly elevated angle with bright lighting was washing out my imperfections, you know? Felt bad to be told I was a letdown.

I kind of stopped taking selfies since then. I never edited, but I did use lighting and angles to my advantage a lot.

>> No.9175099

>> No.9175105

>>9175081
>you're still shooping by brightening and contrasting
Even to just fix colors? I mean I guess but it's not like you're trying to alter your face necessarily. Usually stuff like that is to fix lighting issues. Whenever I see people in like, the CoF thread accusing someone of shoop, they're referring to using the blur or smudge tool in an app or photoshop. I've seen people complain about filter usage too, but it's always specified that they're using a filter and it's a different kind of shoop.

>> No.9175112

>>9175105
shooping or Photoshopping just means altering the photo in some way. you might be shooping less, and get no flack for it, but you're still shooping.

>> No.9175122

>>9175051
something you have to consider, though, is that photos (especially selfie cameras) distort your face. I shoop a shit ton, but I edit the photo to how I would look irl (for example, my nose looks huge when I take photos, but is much smaller irl). Other things that are more subtle , like evening out my eyes/makeup/etc, are flaws that wouldn't be noticed irl, since you don't notice smaller things when they're in motion, but that make more of a difference when you're staring at a still picture of yourself. I have people I don't know recognize me quite often, and even the most honest of my friends says that I look like my photos, so I don't think it's bad or deceiving to shoop.

>> No.9175234

to make themselves feel better about "not shooping"?? there's a literal definition for the word "Photoshopping"; just because you get shat on if you "shoop" too much and don't get any reaction for just edit lighting doesn't change the fact that both of these are encompassed under the term.

>> No.9175257

>> No.9175260

>>9175257
Right but in a comment above that I was talking about how anons call out others in CoF threads, they say shoop to refer to blur/smudge, and say filters for the other.

>> No.9175273

>>9175260
To be more specific is what I would assume? Over time, the connotation of "shoop" has come to mean liquifying, blurring, etc, but its still originally a shortened version of the word "photoshop" (and still used interchangeably) and the denotation remains the same.

>> No.9175314

>>9175273
I have never heard shoop used colloquially to mean "she adjusted the brightness and color levels on that photo!". I've only ever heard it used to insinuate that someone did some serious alteration to hide flaws. While lighting/color adjustment is still editing, it's an entirely different ballgame when compared to blur/smudge/deform photoshopping.

When you search a tag it will usually show popular first, then under it the list of all the posts from newest to oldest, so your old pics don't keep getting likes unless someone sees a new pic you posted and wants to see what else you have on your account.

I have a question of my own, do any of you manage more than one account? I turned my personal account into a cosplay only account for my cosplay page recently, so I could share content straight to it, was it a bad decision?

Also, a bit unrelated and noob question but where's the best place to post cosplay pictures with full quality? I don't cosplay anime often, would it be okay to post it to world cosplay and sites like it or would I have more luck somewhere else? I mostly do games and movies

They have a few tags that they stupidly block public posting if you post into. Some of them are obvious like "boobs" or "butt" and I won't be surprised if "lolita" is also in this category. It seems to be some kind of curb on porn and spam traffic. Some of the more idiotic ones include "photo" and "instagram". The only way really to fix this is post your tags in a comment so you can delete & retag if they don't appear, or delete the photo entirely and try again.

I'm not trying to become ~instagram famous or anything like it, but I have less than 20 followers and would like my photos to reach more people.
I'm just not good at hashtags. Lately I've been posting photos from a vacation, just tagging it as #country, #location and nothing else. When I post any fandom shit I just tag #fandom and nothing else.
I want to start posting fashion selfies and I just don't know what I could add to that besides #selfie, and when I post my pets on there all I can bring myself to add is #cat / dog and #cute.
