No idea. I guess good artists have better things to do than tutor a room full of weebs? It's pretty embarrassing, because my local "how to draw manga" teacher is even worse than this and of course normies don't know any better, so every time she does a workshop at some event people start messaging me like hey anon isn't this that stuff you're into?

Not if they're two months old and you're taking them somewhere full of people known for bad hygiene. Babies are delicate. Why on earth would you not just have someone babysit while you went? Sure nothing is guaranteed to happen, but it's a big risk and you have to take care of your baby for the whole con. A toddler may be more of a pain but they're less likely to get potentially fatal illnesses. What's a minor cold to us can be very severe for them. All just to save maybe 20 bucks? It's plain stupid and irresponsible.

>> No.9036516

I mean, just taking your baby outside of the house is running the risk of them getting sick. Taking them to a family gathering is running the risk of them getting sick. So long as you're not handing your baby off to random strangers, things should be fine.

I see babies at cons/other events all the time so you guys acting like this is so unheard of and dangerous is kinda weird

I've been sneezed on, had my clothes grabbed at with very obviously dirty hands, and there are tons of people who definitely haven't showered for days. These are the same people that get body paint everywhere remember? Sure everywhere is a risk, but that doesn't mean all places are equal. Weebs have no concept of hygiene or personal space. It's easy to start thinking everyone is going to behave well when you spend a lot of time on cgl, but there are way more weebs than reasonable people in my experience.

>One of them is kind of creepy, but still a nice person
>One day sends us all a text about a friend of hers working on a project
>It's just this neckbeard guy she knew who wrote three scripts for an anime he wanted to make
>It's just a bunch of shonen battle manga cliches in a criminal-on-the-run setting
>Two of his mediocre character sketches were clearly just mostly traced versions of Verde from REBORN! and Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew
>I say that it's not very well-thought out for other reasons i've since forgotten
>"Oh anon you're a girl, so maybe this just isn't for you. I might add some romance sub-plots to it though so don't worry"
>Says he'll make a Kickstarters asking for $15,000
>Never follows through after additional negative feedback

It's not set in stone.
The only reason I can justify bringing a kid to a convention is if they're a fan of the material too.
/Most/ kids under 10 aren't really into anime, major video games, or comics. There's exceptions and it varies.
But most of the time when I see a kid around or under that age, they're bored and just being dragged along. Hire a sitter.

Have you ever had a kid? They're not THAT delicate. Babies are resilient little fuckers. Colds are only a problem for nursing infants, and only because the stuffy nose can prevent them from breathing while nursing. Even then, you just suction the nose and you're good to go.

I feel like it's mostly an issue of noise and comfort.
Small conventions aren't too bad, but large conventions always have at least one area that's just a main traffic point. Almost always crowded and ridiculously loud. That would upset the kid way too much.
Also depends if you have a hotel room/live nearby/can find a quiet area.

It mostly boils down to how good the parents are and you can't really tell that easily.
