Treat it like colossalcon and go for the fun of the venue Blue Mountain resort is super pretty and the hotels are really nice. Go to party with friends and have a generally good time at a nice place and you will enjoy it more than someone going for panels or a dealers room.

First step is to talk to people. It's the most difficult one but nothing ventured nothing gained. Best thing to do is work on everything you can change for the better self improvement attracts people to you because you become more confident. Find different ways to socialize be social with random people in your daily life, go to the gym, listen to some comedy always helped me not to steal jokes but to learn delivery and timing for things. The best part of all this is that when you start doing it, it becomes more fun to keep doing and you stay in a positive circle.

Try cosplaying. It's an instant starter when you see anyone from your series and also an common interest in most cases too. It was the first year that I cosplayed (have gone for 6) and it was instantly the most fun I have had.

there isn't some magic solution like cosplaying or some other quick fix. You really have to just keep doing it and practicing talking to people. A lot of conversation is on the fly stuff so most of the time its not good to think about it so much.

Making conversation isn't too bad, just look for people relevant to your interests. I became buddies with a fellow Asian armour bro and buff Asian barbarian Frostmourne guy.

I usually walk around with friends, and then go on my own to shop, but this year, my mobile service was WIND, which does not work at AN at all. so I had to be with friends the whole time, or risk not seeing them for the whole day. I understand what you mean by the freedom thing, gives you more time to look around and make decisions, instead of running after your friends once they get bored of the table.
Probably the reason why I got so little this year.

I personally think it's better to just go in with no plans and see what comes at you. Going in groups is best as you'll always have to people to hang with, even if you get lost. I got cut off from my group but ended up posing for a bunch of pics outside and had a good time, and met some cool people. Pic very related.

Anyone finding less and less stuff to do at AN each year? At least in my opinion the past 3 years I've gone I've noticed that I've gone to less panels and bought less stuff each year. I only buy prints and clothing.

AN for me now is just about hanging out with friends, drinking, going to the parties and making new friends.

I think after having the same experience at almost every Canadian con I've visited for the past however many years, it's a quick scan or two through the dealers room and then off to do whatever else. There's rarely anything good in the dealer's room but then again, there's nothing to do anywhere else either.

I don't really care about how others feel about my ass because I've been trying really hard recently to get into shape. I don't have the best behind because of stretch marks and things, but I've been slowly getting to a point I'm happy with.

As for the "pretending" to be a guy, I came out my family years ago as transgender and Ive only recently been able to start my transition properly. Just because I'm cosplaying as a girl doesnt mean I identify as one. It's just a costume.
