This is kinda confusing because the gored skirt should need 6 panels, not 9. I can't figure out where the extra panels go, even if the skirt has hidden pleats that would need 10 panels, not 9.

Also, that last diagram is a terrible way to make a pleated skirt, irl the pleats will dissappear halfway down the dress because there's not enough in the folds to have them stay folded.

I remember when this was posted to either egl or sew_loli and someone asked her that exact question. I don't think she ever answered it properly.

If it helps, cutting on the bias gives you more stretch in the fabric. So my best guess is if you're not all that great at cutting right angle exact squares it might be easier to yank a bias-cut square into vaguely equal-sided bows, while something cut on the grain is going to stubbornly ease itself back into not being a square, giving you possibly lopsided bows. I think.

Ah, 4 panels would make much more sense.

Sorry, I'm not complaining, and it's nice of anon to dump. Just confused by that one image. Maybe someone can write the 4 a little clearer.

The pleated skirt pattern isn't too far off either, but it'll probably end more like pic than the pleated skirt they drew because the bottom of the skirt doesn't have enough overlap to make pleats. Just a little note to pay attention to, because I've ended up here before and was not pleased that I overlooked this tiny detail.

Yes, you need a wider skirt, and you also need to make sure you aren't folding those perfect triangles in the tutorial. The tutorial seems to imply that all of the fabric is revealed by the time the pleat gets to the hem, and therefore you only need a skirt that's as wide as you want. But the whole point of a pleated skirt is that there is fabric hidden behind in folds. So even at the hem there should still be some fabric that's folded behind, and the skirt needs to be much wider to allow the fabric to stay folded.

If she had chopped-off-triangles like these the tutorial would be okay then, so that at the hem the darker areas are still folded behind.

I have a wig that was my first (monstrous) experiment with dying, so now it's an impossible jungle of rats years later. Will this do it any good? I've used softener baths but never for that long.

I have zero expectation of getting it to its original quality but it'd be nice to be able to practice styles with it.

>> No.8986011

>>8985814
I can't personally say becaue I've never had a wig go to that stage of tangle, sorry. It wouldn't hurt, at the very least, as long as you don't care about the stuff maybe affecting your dye (depending on what you used for that it might leave the wig fibres). As I was typing I remembered this guy's video on detangling extreme messes. He does only leave it in for a few hours compared to days but he's also just looking for detangling versus matting the shine. Good luck!

I found a load of pretty sweet basic patterns on a site. these could be modified for a lot of cosplay things. mostly male stuff, but there's an unisex hoodie and a feminine corset (that one seems to not be perfected but could def be helpful). best part is, most of these have like a million alterations already built in, and they seem to automatically scale for size and add in said alterations.
