This is actually something I've been thinking about for a while and. I'm glad a situation came up when I can ask about it:

For those who DON'T wear the fashion often. How do you go about introducing your SO to the fashion. What are their reactions? How do you explain it?

Since I wear it daily, I've always met all my bfs while wearing the fashion so it's never been an issue. But I'm a little confused about someone who dresses normally and then BAM lolita. I can imagine it being quite the awkward conversation.

When I met my SO I was travelling through the mountains for 2 months so I wasn't wearing lolita. I just mentioned I liked lolita and alt fashion once or twice, once we were at a city I showed him some coords I liked, he thought it was very geeky and he prefers functional, sporty clothes but he didn't make a big deal out of it and I also dislike some of his hobby's so it's olay.
