Where might I be able to buy some damaged dresses? I have some ideas for things I would like to do with prints but I wouldn't experiment on a perfectly good dress. Sometimes I can find things on Yahoo Japan but it seems Lacemarket posts don't reduce their prices by much for damaged dresses and I'm not about to pay $150 for a dress I'm going to mess with.

Different anon here. While it is most certainly her dress to do whatever with, especially if it's damaged, I still don't understand why she wants to alter it. It's much cheaper to find printed fabrics online or in store than to try and alter a damaged brand dress unless it's going super cheap.

I will say if a dress is damaged to the point it's unwearable, I don't see any harm in trying to salvage the scraps of it. It's just not going to be the easiest thing to try and find a dress like that for a decent price.

I hardly think it's so much to ask to look for severely damaged dresses. Most girls wouldn't even wear those dresses out because the damage is so embarrassing. I've already experimented with non-loli dresses, it's not as though I've never sewed/dyed/crafted before. I was just looking for nice prints to use. I've already looked through quilting stores and the like and they just don't have any suitable prints, not to mention I'd rather not sew my own jsks from scratch if I can buy some and save myself the time.

Because you associate brand with actual value and significance. You think that because it's expensive means it is inherently worth more than other things... in the end it's just fabric. Not just brand, indie brands, regular dresses. Some one put time and effort into that design, and that in it self is amazing. So if it were me i would prefer people didn't mess with the dress. But no where did i try to "dictate" what anon could do.

If anything, she should be happy I'm looking to take damaged pieces off the market and alter them. Removing more of those dresses from the world increases the value of the pristine ones that are already on the market, so her brand dresses would be worth more. No one wants to buy a totaled Corvette just for the sake of having a Corvette. I'm basically buying these dresses to scrap for parts, if you will.

Same. I had some factory rejects that I couldn't sell. Disassembled them to make a limited run of matching accessories and that went over great. If someone had accidentally gotten one of those factory rejects (as in, they slipped through QC and ended up in someone's order), I would rather replace the item with a new one, and let them take that mofo apart to do something new with the materials than just trash it.

If you're interested I have an iw wavy ribbon jsk where I took the bows off the skirt, I didn't like how they were only on the front and not the back so tried to alter it. There's pock marks now where they were sewn on and I just don't want to bother and feel bad at selling it on an auction. It's in good condition, the bodice is really nice, good fabric, I still have the bows.

hey gulls. so i bought a blouse from bunny house, got an airmail tracking number (beginning with RR if it matters?). on the vietnam post website the tracking number has been updating just fine the past week or so, but it finally stopped on the 13th and the latest update just says "exported from vietnam". usually foreign post numbers track fine on USPS so i tried putting the tracking number through the usps tracking but it says not found, and again on VN post it hasn't updated beyond that one thing saying it was exported. is this the type of mail that like, can take a long time because the package has to wait to be put on a plane that has room? otherwise, anyone have any sort of possibly guess as to when this thing might get here? i was hoping the blouse would get here before halloween but maybe not.

I always have to use a hidden safety pin to close the annoying boob gap in button down blouses. Also if a dress has very obviously stretched to the max shirring, but still fits and looks decent I wear a bolero or capelet to cover it.

I used to stack not so good pettis but I recently invested in a nice one and its just worth it. The dress even flows better with it.
I recommend learning how to sew instead of using fabric glue to patch things up only because fabric glue gives kind of a stiff texture.

How ethical - or not - is it to sell items you make using GLB patterns? I have several patterns from 2007-2008 (IIRC) including an Innocent World capelet, a MAM headdress, and an Angelic Pretty bear ear headdress. I have saved these patterns for years and thought it might be fun to make a little pocket money by crafting the items and selling them. Would this cause me trouble down the line, or would people be pissy at me for doing this?

The only reasonable one imo is the cotton-balls for shoes. It's one of the best things I got from Lolita-Tips' blog. I go thrift shopping, and I find really cute shoes, but they're almost always too big. It's not a good idea if you're going to walk around in them a lot, but otherwise it works.

I'm right in between sizes such that the underbust on size 1 is usually too small and the bust on size 2 is usually too big. If you're right on the border like me but don't have an awkward large ribcage + small boobs combo, you should be able to wear a size 2 and not have it look bad.

As other anon mentioned don't use any hot water.
For me any oxi clean worked really well on most stains. Wet the stain a bit and put on the oxi clean stuff. Wet it every once in a while so it can soak it a bit. I'd usually recommend soaking the whole area around the stain in a water + oxiclean solution but since is an old red velvet dress I'm not too sure what might happen. (It shouldn't do amything with cold water, but you never know). After soaking a bit, maybe half an hour, try to carefully rub the stain out with an old piece of cloth.

I need advice. I have a perfect petite body for lolita (humblebrag whatever) but not a very cute face. It's not the worst, but it doesn't photograph well, I feel like, and it's more narrow and oval, which doesn't tend to suit lolita wigs very well, either (the bangs are always so long and wide on wigs, which ends up making my face look even longer) Should I just ditch wigs and only use my natural hair?

the place where I was an intern, they used some double sided interfacing to repair holes. with bigger holes we would sew over the holes to reinforce them, but I can imagine they wouldn't do that with velveteen.

I agree with you it's Baby's fault and they messed up, but try being less self-centred the next time an international seller messes up. It's easy for you to say "just order it off xxx website" but you're expecting someone foreign to know about something not every country has, you expect them to know which site to look for, you expect them to navigate a site in a language foreign to them, and then figure out how to buy one item. Yes, the seller messed up, but there are 196 countries in the world, and they don't all operate the same. In my country you can't even buy it off the website, so you're basically saying they should fly someone over so that they can buy the shipping label in person from one of the few post offices that carry it, and then find out that not only is the box too small (we don't do prepaid labels, only prepaid boxes and envelopes), it's also untracked. That's a bit much to ask from an international seller, even if the seller is a company the size of Baby.

If it's really that easy to buy a prepaid shipping label in your country, then I don't see why the buyer doesn't just do this herself and send Baby the receipt afterwards. As far as I know, Baby doesn't send the money over to cover the shipping, what they did for me previously was refund it out of the transaction where I had paid them, which means the paypal fees get refunded as well.

When is a buyer entitled to a full refund?

I sold an older dress that I purchased off of egl-comm-sales forever ago and it just sat in my closet. I only inspected the outside of the dress before selling, listing it in "good condition for its age"

Buyer said the lining is coming apart from the zipper and the seams. I suspected maybe she had stretched it out, but upon checking her FB she's TINY (5'1, probably 95lbs at most). It must have been the previous owner who had sold it to me since I never wore the thing.

I'm happy to pay for the alterations but she does not have a car or any means to get it fixed. It would take her close to 2 hours on bus in the snow to get it altered.

At this point I'm stuck. We're at two options
- she sends the dress back to me, I get it fixed, and then send it back
- I give her a full refund as I cannot do a partial

It's at a different location this yer, so I have no idea what to expect at the venue. considering all the girls with large (even hugely large) wardrobes, are there many girls at all that have 300+ dresses?
this is also considering everyone who's going nuts ordering 5+ to 10+ main pieces from the Holy Lantern MTO alone.
i knew of pyro42's wardrobe from last year, hers was one of the largest i ever saw thus far. but i'm wondering if anyone else comes remotely close to 300 or more dresses and if so, do they have a wardrobe post or video posted anywhere?
sometimes i wonder if there's any lolita out there with 365 main pieces (one for each day of the year). it's an insane idea but considering some have come close to 300...

different anon but, except not all potential main pieces cost 250 tbh, especially when you factor in skirts that sell for less than jsks or ops, japanese secondhand auctions/pricing, older pieces, and offbrand. i definitely have over 300 prints on my wishlist, too. and it's not like someone can get 300+ main pieces in a year, that would take a shitload of time and budgeting for most people. unless they're rich of course, in which case more power to them.
and yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if chinese lolitas have that much and probably more.
