Conventions as a whole are all on the mild side here, not really any way of getting around it considering the wide range of age groups attending, though it's appreciated when stuff that's thinking outside the box like the cocktail/Japanese whiskey tasting panels are provided to attendees.

But it's laughable that an 80's themed disco is the best they could come up with as Saturday night's big event, that must have taken weeks of brainstorming to come up with. Definitely something that's not been done to death!

Not gonna lie the video of otakucon at the time was literally one of the most negative, douchey things I've seen. Like I was there. And it wasn't great like, but the glance into the sellers room and at the games hallway with a negative snarky commentary over it was just shit. Like the games hallway was a hallway but it was legit still better than the entitled little fuckwits who hang out at eirtakons game section. And sellers had a good supply of stuff. Panels wise meh.

But the worst thing about this one to me was how late the timetable came round. Like it was posted this week ffs

>> No.8668880

>>8668857
I don't think that video was a jab at the attendees, more a giant jab at how wholly underwhelming the setup was for the price. You could have the soundest bastards ever hanging around a games room consisting of a single CRT TV and an N64, but it's still just a fucking TV and an N64. Attendees being bellends in the games room at Eirtakon is something out of the convention's control; what's being offered to said attendees is something entirely within the convention's control, and something that eejit Nathan clearly failed at.

I went. Only about 30 people there. Again, no one checked for badges so I just walked in without paying. How Nathan expects to make any money went they don't check for badges is beyond me.
Traders looked bored as hell. The indie game guys were the only okay-ish thing about the con. Their guest was a skypr guest again, which they didn't have the decency to tell anyone. I was looking forward to getting spmething signed but they are that incompetent that two years running and they have a no show guest.
Nathan definitely made a huge loss on this one. No doubt about it.

>> No.8672367

>>8672225
Can confirm there was more than 30. Can also confirm a lot of people went in free. And yeah noone checked for wristbands(those two are mutually exclusive, as many people were let in free). That venue is so shit and just breeds low attendance. Games room was both good and lacking if that makes sense. Sellers room was pretty barren. Lot of kids go to this one it seems.

And then there's that creepy greasy guy with the white waistcoat just there doing fuckall but looking constantly annoyed about it.

Skype guest bailed, and it was clearly mentioned many times on the website that it'd be a Skype panel. But either way led to a noshow.

I think 50 is a fair estimation. Also what I would say is its kinda a young demographic that goes to it. And it definitely seems like there's a lot of free people who go there too.

Like I don't mind going cos it's only 15 euro and I chat away to some of the panelists and tis only a one day thing that's easy to get to.
But in general there's a very sour mood about the whole place. And I definitely get the vibe that this time it could have cost more to put on than they could have made.
Numbers were definitely less than Ireland cosplay con and otakucon.

The cards against humanity table was constantly full of kids(should that not be id checked?) And panels were always near empty

They announced it a while back. Either they didn't have the money or couldn't book both days. I'd say it was for the best but then I wouldn't have put the event on in the first place. A skype guest is crap but when it's only €15 you can't really blame them for not affording a guest in person considering at best they would've gotten a 100 people.

Where the events and games room any good at least?
