Cute coordination. Only nitpick might be the socks But this isn't lolita so it's not like all our colors need to match hue wise.

>>8659846
Yup.
>>8659842
I can see elements of Larme. She's definitely going for the swankiss vibe. I'm just not a fan of that heavier makeup. She's definitely better at it than girlyhoot but I don't understand where this fascination with rhinestones came from. I can only find a couple of swankiss photos with Saaya wearing rhinestones on her face. Even the most OTT brand does not do this kind of makeup and it's really not appropriate for any other Larme brand.

To keep this thread going, I'll post some from the tumblr tag.

For this I like the outfit as a whole except the shoes. The outfit is all black and white and then the shoes aren't so it throws me off. If she had something else to tie in the color it might work better for me.

They don't generally. Larme is meant to be more natural than styles like lolita or gyaru. She mentioned she's been a part of the lolita community for a long time and it shows. I think alot of the trouble with many westerners from lolita (I would venture to add especially sweet lolita) trying larme is they can't let go of the kawaii elements of lolita or the rules and totally miss the classier, mature elements of larme. I am seeing the beginnings of what normalfags think Larme is and what may be accepted by the majority as Larme, in the same way that cult party basically became rose crown and throw on a peignoir kei in the west.
"It has Barbie in that Barbie font = Larme. Pastel mermaid seashell = Larme.
Platforms = Larme.
Kawaii fluffy lacey fairy dresses a la Swankiss = Larme.
Stick sparkly or star shaped things under the eyes = Larme.
Everything must be pastel and kawaii = Larme "

I think telling people new to Larme to watch Lolita is not a great idea when the Lolita inspired outfits and photo shoots from the actual Larme magazine are out there for anyone to study and get inspiration from.
Like other anon said, Larme is about the latest trends so they would be much better off just buying the latest issue. If they still don't get it then it's just not their thing, they should try something else, not the end of the world.

>it’s great way to learn about other fashions.

BULLSHIT!!!
It's only confusing and misinforming without good context *the fact you thought pastel goth was a substyle of fairy kei should have made that clear*
There are tones of ways to learn about other styles if you're genuine intrest, that doesn't evolve mistagging. Like, I don't know, following good written fashion blogs about Japanese fashion and looking at equal street snaps.

But the reason why you say mistagging is good, isn't just because you're an attention whore, you also us it to hide the fact that you don't know what you're wearing.

>technologically this isn’t fairy kei,
Snowflake, what you're wearing on the picture is with no doubt fairy kei. Just because it has more Pop kei elements then what is popular at the moment, and could also be a good Pop kei coord *fun part is that you didn't tag it as pop kei, while fairy, pop and Spank would have been the only correct tags*, doesn't mean something isn't a certain style.
And you would have kissed someone's else ass if they tagged it as Fairy kei.

But I'm glad that you looked in the mirror when you said that nobody likes a 'now it all' and that you should be humble instead of a e-fame hunry snowflake. Unfortunately, you're really bad at following you own advies and being heavily in denial doesn't help either.

I don't know what you find new and exciting about Kate's outfits but I guess that goes back to taste levels again. Her Larme efforts are just badly realized in general, in a way that's awkward. But like someone said this is just a trend she's throwing money at for popularity. You might want it look into aomoji by the way if you want something that isn't so structured or whatever.

>> No.8667254

But Larme is literally just girly trendy clothes it is not an alternative fashion, hence, no subculture.

Sorry, should have been more clear, I just see this opinion coming from lolitas all the time.

Also I would argue that larme definitely is an alternative fashion - Thinking this accurately represents mainstream Japanese fashion would be like thinking emo/scene represented mainstream western fashion at it's height. popular =/= mainstream. Just by virtue of being an alternative fashion it has a subculture, it's just nested within the existing one. The magazine might lead the trends rather than the other way around, but that doesn't mean the subculture doesn't exist. We just don't get to see it because most of us don't live in Japan, so we have no idea what the "Scene" is like and don't get to watch it organically evolve.

You should read this page that an anon linked in the otome thread

as this discussion is rearing into similar subject matter, in fact as I was reading this page and the discussions on the studies surrounding shoujo culture in previous otome threads I kept thinking of how it was relevant to Larme magazine, and it's current popularity in the west versus how it is perceived or reacted to in Japanese culture.

I like aomoji, but because it's pretty much 'wear what you like, kei' there are no standards and any online community is just teenagers in thrift store shit that never improve.
Something with no rules ends up attracting the type of people that don't want to try or to receive any crit, but it seems like whenever we get a new fashion with a few guidelines we just make the rules stricter and nitpick until everything is cookie-cutter boring.

I found this comment explained how Larme works without 'rules'
>A lot of traditional Japanese hobbies (arts, music, whatever) have a theory of pedagogy where you do exactly what the teacher says, without trying to inject anything of your own, until you have it down perfect. At that point, the idea is, your personality will come out naturally within the traditional bounds, so you won’t be a soulless clone, but without that foundation of repetition you wouldn’t be within the bounds and therefore wouldn’t be carrying on the tradition.

Would you say that there is some equivalent in fashion genres, in the sense that there is room for originality but it can only be properly expressed once you have completely internalized the genre rules? So, the goal is not to just “be original” so much as to prepare an original take on the strictly defined conceptual materials you have?

>> No.8669357

>>8669322
That part also jumped out at me, as did one of the follow up comments:

“...the sheer scale of mass culture means that you can’t have a teacher for everyone, and therefore, magazines and store clerks become a substitute for that kind of authority.“

No, saramari is white and seems to have this thing down. I will say one thing about alot of these looks is the obsession with dyed cheap looking Barbie bright blonde hair. Most of the Larme models have brown or dark hair. And to quote the actual magazine: "The importance of hair color, affects how girly you would want to show out. Instead of bright colours, dark and grey-ish calm color will turn you into a calm and settled person."
It's not that the hair colour alone is ruining the look for them but it definitely isn't helping.

>> No.8670795

>>8670305
But what makes a dfference in saramari's case is he fact, that she's really interested in Larme. She analyses what's in the magazine and shops for proper clothes. Other mentioned girls probably only want to try recreate the style at the minimal effort.

As an outsider, the problem isn't entirely with the tights but how you balanced it. Larme is supposed to be toned down and subtlety morose or grown up. Since your jacket is so sugary pink, you'd want to wear legwear and accessories that tone it down some. The tights are even more whimsical and childish though, so it missed the mark for that reason.

It also doesn't really make sense color wise, but as an unstructured fashion that's something you might have been able to get away with if it felt right thematically.

To be honest, you don't really look like you're wearing makeup here (save for your lips, obviously), much less any discernible style. You need to work on your base makeup (i.e. foundation/bb/concealer/whatever), since your skin looks a bit red, uneven, and tired here. A solid base is really important.
After you have your base, find a good blush.
I personally think that the gradient lip that you seem to be going for rarely looks good irl and that a single/"flat" lip colour looks better with larme.

As anons have said, larme definitely has a taste culture or a consumer culture which can inform more than just clothes.

I think a lot of westerners don't want to admit that there are actually cultures that go along with J-fashion because they themselves don't want to follow that culture, and are threatened by the idea that someone might be "more goth than thou" if they did follow it. Either that or they turn the culture into something to suit their own personal interests, like with all the historical re-enactment going on in the lifestyle lolita thread.
