>Do you have a designated sewing/crafting playlist?
>Do you have a favourite show to watch while you're making things?
Feel free to share/make suggestions on how you stay focused and motivated while working on a project!

>> No.8636568

I watch everything in the Netflix kids section. Or I watch stuff on Instasynch, either shows or random vid playlists. I find it pretty tough to work if there's no videos playing in the background, but lately I have no motivation at all, so I hope someone posts motivators to work.

My background noise shows are primarily Bob's Burgers and Mitchel and Webb's shows. I know every word of every BB episode off by heart at this point and I'm still not sick of it.

For music I go with
>Die Antwoord.
>Trollfest.
>Troldhaugen.

Fast, upbeat stuff.

>> No.8636582

I watch awful reality shows or investigation shows, because it gives me something I can hear and float in and out through without much I can't piece together. Plus its stuff I would never mind missing and the trash is soothing.

>> No.8636642

I know this is weird...
I play the movie LABYRINTH in the background while I am working. And for some reason it is really relaxing for me.

When I am not listening to it, my costumes end up rushed and ugly, when I have that movie playing in the background I don't rush my sewing and my costumes always turn out nice.

Have watched it so many times I can quote the movie from start to finish.

Background noise i use dance moms & crime documentaries, lately i've been using youtuber's videos like Sandman and Karen Straughan, i try to use animal planet but i always end up watching the show instead lol

music wise it's usually purity ring, kimbra melanie martinez or die antwoord, but yes i also have playlists, one for sewing and one for painting since i can kind of dance when i sew but not while painting for obvs reasons lol

>> No.8636669

Archer, 90s Nicktoons, Disney movies, and dubbed GITS.
If I go with music it's just whatever I happen to be in the mood for, I don't have specific sewing tunes.

>> No.8636671

I don't usually listen to music when I sew coz it just makes me want to sing along lol. I usually put on a movie I've watched before and won't mind missing out on like Inception, Red Eye, Minority Report, etc.

Documentaries or classical. I have a predilection for Bach and Chopin.

i like playing k/jpop when i'm cutting out patterns because it's my least favourite part so boppy music stops me from getting too bummed out about it. and i like to watch mad men or the office when i'm sewing.

This. It's such a shitty show but it gets me so hyped up for cons especially if I'm entering.

Does anyone remember when we made the cgl soundtrack? I have it on my computer and it's great, but I don't remember the link to share it.

Watch cmvs to get me in the mood.

Listen to the RTPodcast or music relating to the character I'm Cosplaying.

I don't always listen to the same things. I'm always exploring new music and I listen to new albums whenever I'm sewing. Some things are more inspiring than others, tho

I am the same! Trashy television is great because I don't have to pay much attention. I'm always looking for new shows. What would you suggest?

When I'm doing commissions or comics, I always either listen to the Chrono Trigger ost or the FF4, 5, or 9 ost. It's the ony thing that keeps my focus.

Right now I'm catching up on Ink Masters (I missed the past two seasons and its just constant fighting so that's always fun to listen to) while I embroider and crochet because I can look up more while doing those. While I sew I've lately been tossing up a playlist of that Halloween Wars show Food Network does because I am just pumped for the fucking season in all honesty.

Yeah, I need music to work. I'm thinking about getting some old disney movie music, OPs pic makes it look so lovely.
How about radio/podcasts? I used to listen to Car Talk for hours with my dad (rip Tommy) and I still listen to Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and Snap Judgement and sometimes the other NPR shows. I'm a liberal old white man at heart.
I love listening to a good story, does anyone have any recommendations?

Reality TV is my guilty pleasure while working. Nothing motivates me like project runway and the bitches on America's next top model. Although this week I've tried out older dubbed anime and I about lost it rewatching Inuyasha so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep going or switch to gundam seed

Usually it's shows I watched the sub originally.

Music is all anime opening themes. I tend to always cosplay anime characters, so watching and listening to it gets me motivated. Total weeb basically.

>ATLA/Korra, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls
>Adventure Time
>Miyazaki films
>lots of blockbuster sci-fi and superhero movies (Marvel stuff, Star Trek 2009, etc)

Albums I mostly listen to and can listen to multiple times a day while sewing, painting, embroidering, drawing, ect
>The rise and fall of ziggy stardust
>The Fall, Gorillaz
>Donker Mag
sometimes I'll listen to stuff like London After Midnight, Christian Death and Rosetta stone, or sometime stuff like Nirvana and Pearl jam. I also sometimes put on ballets because the soundtracks are nice and my eyes get tired very quickly so looking up at that just to switch it up can help. Card Captor Sakura is also great to watch, parks and rec is too. Chubby Chris Pratt is best Chris Pratt,

Usually video game BGM, sitcoms (Parks and Rec was my most recent background marathon), or dubbed anime, especially if I'm cosplaying from an anime series. If it's crunch time, though, I put the movie Akira on repeat. I feel like the sense of urgency in the soundtrack makes me work faster.
