Anyone got anything for a peacoat? I want to make a captain falcon suit and that's the closest thing I've found for those sort of buttons, so I was thinking of just adapting a pattern to what I need.

Whut the fuck do you need interfacing for? do you want a stiff ass plushie?

>> No.8640059

>>8640009
Because minky is slippery and stretchy as hell and you need interfacing for it to keep its shape better. I make minky plushies all the time and if you don't line them at all, they come out super wonky. You don't need super thick interfacing, just something thin and malleable so your shapes don't warp hideously after turning and stuffing. That's Minky 101, man.

Anon, please. I posted all of the tutorials in this thread exept one. Also in the op I said "cute diys"
Since a lot of people on this board likes cute stuff and like to decorate their rooms like j-fash or lolita inspired, I think it's a bit related

Old joke, someone posted this picture in a tutorial thread many moons ago, so it is a repeating joke.

Or, you know, you draft to accommodate stretch like you do with regular knits and you don't stuff like a 'yard.

>> No.8640879

>>8640059

I make Minky plushies all the time and it just sounds like you overstuff yours.

I mean, I learned how to work with minky from other plush makers, whose work sells for +$300, so I'm pretty sure they know what they're doing? I don't overstuff and they still get wonky. I'm pretty delicate with my materials.
Plus, sometimes you want elements of the plush to keep their shape but you don't want to stuff them. Animal ears are a good example, or anime style hair. These things need interfacing otherwise they turn out floppy and janky.

>IS a plushmaker who makes $300+ on commissions

Okay then, waste time and material when you don't need to, that's fine.

Actual Minky isn't THAT stretchy. You may be using something else like a cuddle fabric.

Half the fun of it is your reaction, to be honest.

>> No.8641860

>>8641340
I've seen tutorials who also mention interfacing parts to help it keep it's shape. Seems like it's up to the person making the plush, so why don't ya both stop being salty and agree that there is more than 1 way to work with the fuckin fabric

I found these pages to be very helpful for basic construction.

This page:
>Rule of thumb for how much fabric to get for a basic blouse, one-piece dress, straight skirt, flared skirt, long pants, and coat
>Terminology for bias/selvage/grain
>Needle & thread thickness/sizes for lightweight to heavyweight fabric

I can translate more if anyone needs it
