It looks like a lot of the shironuri lovers here on /cgl/ have been absent recently but I'll try to help. Definitely check out the /cgl/ archive and read the past threads because people have done product and method reviews for doing makeup.

Also you mentioned Minori and wanting to find others, I think the next best one when it comes to popularity is no.96 which is >>8617913 and >>8617907

For makeup tutorials, definitely check on Minori's! It's subbed and you can use just about any kind of paint/powder you want, but her method for application makes everything look really nice and smooth. I've used it myself with domestic brand paint and powder and it's worked better than the other popular method of finger application for paint + brush and loose powder for the top.

I am doing this for Halloween. I've already bought almost everything, I just need my hat, which I can get from amazon within like 2 days (i've spent enough money this month, long white gloves since i prefer the style of shironuri where all skin is painted white/covered. And the perfect eyelashes. I know minori dyes hers and she said she dyed a white pair green, but I can't find white eyelashes that are human hair (and therefore, dyeable). Would you say it's seen as very Minori-copying to have naturey coords? The thing is, mine is for a christmas event that Minori is attending, and I've got this gorgeous white dress that reminds me of snow, and I was going to have lots of holly and mistletoe in my hair with big green eyeshadow, maybe red lashes and green lips. What are the best ways to make your eyebrows invisible? I see a lot about the glue technique, but I can't find out what happens when you remove it. I also heard it's kinda dangerous and hard to do, but also heard it's the easiest way.
I'm more confused after looking up stuff than I was before.

the same way drag queens hide them. using glue and pushing them up until they are flat. however i do not recommend using orange like many do, because the final result is supposed to be white, not skin colored. I also noticed minori doesn't have eyebrows in the majority of her photos, but she may of shaved them off. I'm planning on hiding most of my brows, and created short brows for my coord

I'm planning a horror/medical themed coord and want to have some fake injury prosthetics to really drive the look home

I don't think I should apply them directly on my skin because it says they are translucent and blend with your skin tone and it would look weird to have white skin and suddenly flesh toned sores. I'm using (mitsuyoshi) greasepaint with 2 way cake and probably final seal on top

As a rule of thumb you apply prosthetics beneath any beauty/skin make up and then use that to blend them in. I would not recommend applying atop of bodypaint and I wouldn't bet my money that it would work with these either, especially as I can't really tell what they're made out of/what you'll be using to apply them, but you could always give it a try. Just be wary that some sfx make up will have a nope-y reaction to grease based paint (the ones containing wax, specifically).

So I've been doing whiteface since uh, 2013? Here are some thoughts of mine that might be interesting:

Baby powder is better for sealing white greasepaint than translucent theatrics powder because it is kinda white to begin with so any flaws become less apparent. It's about equal with loose white theatrics powder. I have also used potato starch and while it LOOKED surprisingly good it didn't feel all that hot.
To get a smooth and thick coverage I find that making a sheer base layer by dragging the sponge, and then making the upper layer by dabbing.
Loose powder > compact powder.
Cream/greasebase is always always always to prefer to waterbase when it comes to white.
Clown white > regular white, but regular white still works.
To get rid of paint residue (which is particularly awful when it comes to white it seems), Lush have a great face mask called ultrablend. Ask if you can have a sample.
Be super careful to not get powder make up where it shouldn't be, it's not going away and covering up woth more white paint tend to look kinda shitty. Blow the excess powder off and hold napkins underneath your eye to keep the powder away.

I actually did a test just tonight; right now the outfit consists of a coat, tunic, looped scarf, sheer mullet skirt, boots, tights, striped socks and gloves, and a witch hat.
I want to get a proper dress instead so I'll be going thrifting at some point. The boots are work boots but I think it works with the less dressy style, might have to change that if I get a dress and accessorize the hat, though.

I've a pair of purple-tinted circular glasses on their way here, hence the purple in the make up. The jade lips tie in with the necklaces. The stenciled stars will be on the other cheek as not to be covered by the fringe the next time I do this.
I'm thinking I want some more jade/gold accents in the outfit, I might try and find a gold buckle and do something for the hat but IDK. I think it depends on whether I manage to find a dress or not.
I was also considering gold eyeliner or somesuch. Feel free to throw ideas my way.

I really want the off-white single feather ones, though they have white lashes I could probably dye with fabric marker. But even then, I don't have much in the way of pastels/muted tones. Thanks for the feedback. I took your advice and dyed the wig with fabric dye to more of a wine color. The reason I bought pink is because it's arda's Stevie and it comes in pretty limited colors. Excuse the mess. My bathtub is the only place I could dye it (yay college dorms)
Also the dress is a real candy striper uniform. I was lucky to find one in near perfect condition for $45, they normally go for $150+

Thank you! I may do another dye bath because under natural light it still looks fairly pink (it was still wet in this picture) and I wanted more of a bordeaux
I'm still waiting on some costume parts (brassard, gloves, cap) but I will definitely post pics when I get everything together. I did a makeup test a few night ago and boy applying regular makeup over facepaint is harder than I thought (also my paint keeps cracking under my eyes wtf?). Also I love the mitsuyoshi greasepaint and 2-way cake. It's difficult to remove however. I had to wipe pretty hard multiple times with makeup removing wipes to get it off and even then there's a lot of residue.

i did my first attempt at shironuri, i'd like some feedback on it! just zooming on on the eyes cause i winged it with the mouth. i like how it came out for the most part (other than the bottom lashes lifting ugh) but i don't know if there's anything else i can do different.

I remember this, the hair/ makeup stuff is quite impressive, and putting on maple leaves is cute, but I feel the fabrics look to smooth/ plain and not texturally or structurally interesting enough. Like, a chunky knit, super light cotton, flocky stuff, some subtle patterns could be more interesting. It feels like you just got rectangles of fabric and draped them over you, at least in the picture.

If it's not, the whole point of shironuri is that your face needs to be white. The rest of the makeup needs to wait until you can get that basic step done.
I'm also not a fan of the 2 different eyeshadow colors or the pink in the lashes, unless you plan to somehow tie all these colors together with your outfit in a really cohesive way. Right now it's just a mess.

not vendetta, i just wanted an honest opinion. thankyou for the crit! my face was solid white irl, used mehron clown white and baby powder as the base. it does look pink in the lighting, that i apologize for. the bottom lashes i can ditch, i wore them more for the test than anything else, didn't think about the pink being in there.
and yeah i was gonna carry the colors throughout the outfit, i was practicing the general scheme of the makeup so nothing is really set in stone application wise.
the wig isn't permanent either, so i'll mess around with different ones i have that would go nicely, color wise. thankyou for the honesty, i hope to improve!!

Nice to see criticism taken well. Different lashes are a must. I don't think the wig works for the colors you have going on, try something darker. Two toned eyes could work, just make sure you carry it through the rest of the coord.

Self post. I'm the anon who dyed a wig further upthread per your suggestions. Coord is almost complete, I'm waiting on a medic's brassard and am debating on which bag to carry. I could use this (i know its a lunchbox but it would really emphasise the medical theme) or I could use this vintage burgundy bag I have for a more refined look (looks like this, except its more red irl http://images2.chictopia.com/photos/twinheartsvintage/10957266875/coach-bag_400.jpg).). I'm testing makeup, and I blocked out half my face because I only painted half to conserve facepaint since if I run out, I won't be able to get this specific brand in time for Halloween. I will be painting everything above my shoulders come Halloween and for my college's masquerade next week. Probably gonna restyle the wig because the bangs are doing something weird, dye the lower lashes darker/redder so they're more visible, and possibly wear different eyelashes since these i made from feathers and are stiff and keep lifting. No close up face shot yet because I'm not satisfied with the makeup (I have some prosthetics coming to make more realistic sores than the quick ones i made from wax), but I will post a somewhat closer one in the next post. I have not put my contacts in yet because they need to soak for another 7 hours before they're safe to wear, but I chose light gray ones.

well matching your eyelashes to your wig may be a Minori copycat thing, but it looks really good. If you're confident in your makeup skills, maybe draw branches on your cheeks. Definetly keep a cohesive color scheme, nothing is worse than makeup that would otherwise be good but the creator went all over the place with the color. Dead trees sounds like greenish grays

I already have some lashes sorted, color wise im going with pale/grey purples,green and a bit of yellow (also of course black and grey). I'm doing it with lolita and basing the scheme off of the Ragnarok AATP print in the black color way, hence the print has the world tree on it.

I'm not wearing lolita with mine, but I'm wearing some items that would be worn in a lolita coord normally (tea parties and a surface spell blouse under a pinafore) and while my dress is long enough to be lolita, it's the wrong shape. I really hope no one thinks I'm trying to do lolita and am just an ita (even worse someone who doesn't know much about lolita would probably think i was trying to do guro because i have a medical theme overall)

Depends on where I'm at. I prefer baby powder, but kryolans own white powder is easier to transport. So baby powder for shoots and outings from home, theatrics powder for cons. As long as it's loose it's fine. I've even used potato starch at one point and while it smelled a tad funny it did the job.
