With that in mind, I'll also bring a sharpie with me so that way people can write names on their cups. That was we won't be going through a million different cups bc someone couldn't remember whose is whose. My friend said she'd bring plates and napkins, so hopefully she's still going.

How do you deal with cranky older members, anons? There are two or three members of our comm who have been around forever, and who can be extremely hostile towards some new members. Not in person, thankfully, but I fear that if they ever do meet that it will be terrible.
There aren't solid grounds to have them kicked, but every so often we get a new member and they either really like them, or just start talking really nasty shit about them very openly when they're not around.

I really want to have a community in my hometown. Ive been a lolita for 3 years and have only met a couple others.
I live in a medium sized city and would like to know what are some excellent ways to reach others who may be interested in the fashion? How to start a community and how to keep it active?

This is also an issue in my comm. The biggest part of the problem is that the "cranky older members" are also the comm mods. I can tell that they're fed up with years of dealing with noobs asking the same basic lolita questions a hundred times, but I think their behavior contributes to the whole viewpoint of, "Lolita is scary and everyone judges you! Everyone's an elitist! All lolitas are mean!" Every time they post and say a snarky remark to a new lolita, I usually follow up immediately with a much nicer or clearer explanation so that newbies don't get cut down too badly.

My comm is fantastic, but god do we get a lot of itas and notlitas posting in the FB group about how they don't actually have any dresses yet, but they totally want to be part of the comm. Also a lot of people that don't even live in our state, but still post in the group.

I would make sure that the guy involved is no longer welcomed to meetups. If I was a Mod of the Comm, Cheater-chan would be temporarily banned irregardless of the friends she has in the Comm. She has privied in a couple's person life and hurt someone in the process in trusting others. Cheater-chan can comeback to the Comm that is if she decides to break off the friendship (whether platonic or sexual) of the guy. Cheater-chan has a choice, do you love your Comm or do you have feelings the guy?

Someone from ATLcomm explain this shit to me. I saw her coord on ita and CoF thread and selected among started posting about some of dramas in the comm or some shit.

Her coord was terrible but does she always dress this way? Is that why she is bullied? Why is no one helping her out? Also why does every single ATL Lolita hate her? There are people defending her but it's ALWAYS by Lolitas from different states.

She's new-ish to lolita according to her latest CoF post so I wish people would cut her some slack, but I can somewhat agree with some of the criticism she got for that last coord (especially regarding the heels). I could write it off as experimenting though? Certainly wasn't ita-tier in my book.

Miya doesn't go on cgl. When I showed some screenshots of your drama mongering bullshittery, she genuinely asked me where this was from. She also saw the death threats and she looked disappointed but she said "at least things aren't getting out of hand"

Regarding to the coord she just said "It's fine, I was experimenting for dragoncon and I understand the coord's wasn't exactly everyone's cup of tea". She appriciated some of the criticism from Italy/cof thread, and just went on her way.

Shockingly the Idaho comm is pretty good, considering it's a very poor state. Plus we have a new girl who is also a seagull, which is nice. tl;dr if I'm recalling correctly half the comm was convinced that the girl planning the meetup was skimming a profit off the top of the event's ticket sales. A friend of mine went (I would have had to commute 5+hrs so I didn't) and apparently the catering was largely unimpressive and the venue was hot as balls and packed to the ceiling.

A lot of people in the tri-state area reacted to the meet overall with "We're going to have our own meetup! With blackjack and hookers! And it won't have tickets!" Except that the smaller meets all ended up being the itas that think Bodyline is brand so nothing of value was lost.

I was only there to check how they were doing at the time; not a staff member, so just a disclaimer.

Miya tries to make effort to be sociable to everyone though she tend to just give up when she realize that person just don't want to be bothered by her.

Miya helped out promote AWA few times before shit went down, and there were few Lolitas. (holly and her other friend came in late) while she worked her ass off to help out the staff, the Lolita cliques walked off to gossip about her (whom they just met) and spread some shitty rumors about Miya to other staff members. They were gone for like 4 hours except for the time they came back to sit and eat lunch. Miya asked if she could take a break to go grab a food, they all gave her some shitty backhanded guilt-tripping responses to keep her working.

When the folks recognized her work ethic over her rumor and realized she's fluent in Japanese, they got salty and collectively ignored her and shit.

This happened in late June.

Honestly I'm sure there are people who are mutually disliked in the comm but everyone is an adult about it and is still polite to them in a mature way, which might be what some other anons misinterpreted as being two-faced.

There are definitely a few good lolitas here. It isn't very active but I had fun at the last tea party. There's nobody fantastic but at least half of us are decently dressed. I didn't go last year so I can't speak to the quality of the goodie bags, but what bugs me is that some of the "big" prizes for this year are super niche things that only a few people in the comm would want. I don't want to go to a horror movie convention, and I'm sure the rest of the prizes are going to be similarly themed because it's a Halloween meet. What's the point in going to a meet advertised as having games and raffles when you don't actually want anything being offered to the winners?

I also have beef with the entire menu catering to the ten people with celiac/chronic veganism/weird food allergies, but I can see the wisdom in avoiding any chance of cross-contamination so we don't have to explain to the EMT how we couldn't get her epi-pen into her outer thigh because she was wearing two pairs of tights and a pair of bloomers.

Send out some requests to join communities, and send some of the admins friend requests - admins are usually the best people to be friends with as far as politics goes. Girls who have been around longer are usually settled, and there will be evidence of drama if any has happened, since people remember that kind of thing.

Check CGL for gossip, including the archives - and also remember that you get allowances as a newbie. If you're being friendly with a bully-chan, most girls will warn you off, and get that you genuinely don't know.

I've been part of my comm for a few months and as far as I've seen there's been no drama because its such a small comm but recently a girl who has been causing a lot of shit in another nearby comm has joined and I'm a little concerned she's going to bring that kind of drama here. Mostly venting, but I'm so frustrated with the nepotism in my comm right now.
Every time we have any sort of contest, the same group of 2 or 3 girls wins because they're besties with the admins.
Every time we vote on where to go for a meetup, they have more pull than the rest of the comm.
The admins also just appointed two of them to admin....no open application, no notice of any sort. Many other girls I know have been in the comm longer, dress far better, and would make better leaders but they didn't even get the chance.
I hate people being put into a leadership role just because "well they're my best friend teehee~"

Fuck. I would try to start my own comm if it didn't make me look like a colossal salty bitch.
