Also pic related is how I usually do my makeup for bigger events. Would this be ok? It's a little hard to see because of the high contrast, but I have gold accented on the inside of my eyes and on my lips. I guess that could help bring out the gold on the bag and in the print.

I don't know if this would be better for here or another thread, as it's not specifically coord-matching but wardrobe building, but I need to add an ivory bag to my wardrobe and I need opinions picking between these two:

1st choice
>http://www.ebay.com/itm/Women-Shoulder-Bag-Lady-Faux-Leather-Hand-Bag-Bow-Knot-Satchel-Fashion-Body-Tote-/371347435078
2nd choice
>http://www.ebay.com/itm/Casual-Womens-Princess-Tide-Soulder-Messenger-bags-Fashion-Candy-bow-handbag-/201332357347

The 1st one seems more like a true ivory and is a bit smaller so it won't crush my skirt, but I'm not totally sold on the look of quilted bags with lolita.

The 2nd one seems like a much darker beige than ivory but I think it would match some of my dresses because of that. I like the shape too, and it's bigger. But maybe too big? Also costs over twice as much.

Which one do you vote, gulls? For reference I wear classic, lots of IW in ivory/beige/brown/black/jewel tones. Thank you for any help!

Floral tights, if you can find them in colours complimenting the dress, and dark brown lace up boots

I think it depends on your body shape. I'm quite pear shaped so I usually try and wear things that are fitted to my torso as otherwise I look shapeless and horrible. I would wear a waist length cutsew that just covered the waistband, or a fitted top and cover the waistband with a belt

>>8594949
I think the cardigan and flat shoes will automatically make it look more casual, so I think it'll be your makeup, hair and accessories that will help you look fancier. Even with a Hogwarts theme there is some pretty awesome, fancy jewellery you can get that's fitting to the theme

>>8594433
You have too much going on. Black socks and navy main pieces, socks and a blazer that are more uniform inspired than circus, and red with a dress that has a lot of pink.... nope. I'd start again and go for either plain navy colour or a bold stripe with the blazer, if you want the red in there then you'll need more red elements to make it really intentional, and the socks need to go and be replaced by patterned themed ones or at least a more appropriate colour. You need to sort out your shit before you think about accessories.

I think a bow clip. Colour will depend on the colour of your hair - I imagine the main colours of the dress will show up better on light hair, red will pop on any colour although may make the outfit very red heavy at the top, and white will obviously show better on darker hair

My comm is having an alice tea party and I wanted something comfortable to wear as it is in summer, plus I wanted to be able to wear the dress casually. I love the illustrations on this jane marple dress. I have long blonde hair so i pretty much never wear sax in lolita. Coording it in a more matchy-matchy way is with the aim to make the dress look less otome and more lolita, but do you think it's a lost cause? The silhouette is similar to some of innocent world's sack dresses but I would not classify this dress as lolita.
Otherwise I'll probably still get the dress and not wear it to meets because it's still cute as.

This is a coord that I was working on as my first attempt at old school. I've been into lolita for probably two years and only just started buying this past December.
I know that my shoes are wrong, this was for a casual dinner meet, and I didn't get to buy my shoes yet. I needed help or time to buy the perfect shoes.
Bangs aren't cut because I literally just got the wig from a group order and I got excited and slapped it on.
I also feel like I am shit at cutting bangs. Will add another picture for proof.

I think that I might look like a sack because of my petticoat being pulled too high, but my dress' waist was too low for the petti not to be at least half exposed. I only have a bell shaped petticoat because I thought that "well that's the silhouette, I have it down!" And it looked good with my other dresses. I know I need to invest in an A-line. I just really seriously need help.
Was going to go to closet of frills but I didn't want too much ass-patting.

1) get a better bra- you look frumpy and saggy and you can see the outline. I don't think the dress fits
2) it looks weird around the waist (is it the petti?), you can roll pettis to decrease the length but definitely get an a-line
3) dress is really short on you, maybe go for a peeking bloomer effect if it's old school? But I think it's just too short for lolita. I've never had anything that short on me and I'm almost 5'9".
4) socks are acceptable but lace topped socks would be cuter (or the peeking bloomers)
5) the worst offenders are the shoooes, get some platforms or at least plain mary janes with a small heel. These are casual as well.
You seemed to have realised most of your problems so you're on the right track.
Can't really comment on quality of the items without seeing them up close. Is that a star of david on your neck?

I think your wig looks pretty nice! It should be fine once the bangs are cut. However, the white tights and shoes combined with the short unpoofed skirt look more like maid cosplay than lolita.

Nah you're really cute
The lace on the headdress seems sort of cheap, I prefer cotton lace ones (for oldschool). Check out bodyline's rose one, it's surprisingly nice with thick cotton lace and it was only $8 when I got it. The lace on the dress is more of a modern look as well (embroidered lace) but that's not to say they didn't have some more delicate stuff then either. It's not bad, not cheap looking or anything, just not the most authentically oldschool if that's what you were going for. Doesn't matter too much I suppose.

>> No.8601716

>>8601696
I think the dress is short, figures though. I only got it for 20usd.
I haven't started buying lolita bags yet, but that's because I don't have a grasp on what style I want to use most, and I buy for practicality since I am a bit of a poorchan, so I typically save up then wait for the perfect bargain. (I got triple tart full set for 200usd, as an example)

>> No.8601718

For oldschool a simple black or white satchel bag would work! That's why I love it.
Just stick to classy plain bags in basic shapes (eg. plain heart, satchel, bag with bows; no stuffed toys or anything) in the main colours your wardrobe is aiming toward. I guess the level of embellishment depends on your substyle as well but classic and gothic are a lot easier than modern/ ott sweet to find loliable bags and shoes for.

Bought this dress earlier in the summer and want to coordinate it for winter. The dress is a warm lavender, so I'm worried my purples won't match. Eh, I'd just match it with complimentary tones like white, pink, and silver. Why bother matching?
If you wanted a particular hair bow to match you could go to the fabric store and find something that matches. Berets are easy to make.

Different anon here, but yeah I think the veil in >>8609243 would look better with a longer hair style, like >>8609391. Try to go for at least the same length as the veil, if not longer.

Coording it darker might be kind of difficult, but you could try navy tights with elegant offwhite heels, and a smaller, offwhite bag. Try to keep the gold strictly in your jewelry if possible, and go for a darker colored wig.

Alright, I'm back with this dress here >>8598661

I still need help with the shoes. I want either gold or chocolate brown, but I'm having trouble finding some. The one's I've found so far seem too mature and like they'd fit better into classic.

I don't have a lot of time to order offline, so something closer (Payless, Shoe Carnival, hell even JCPennies or Kohls will work) would be great since I can go and get it.

The model in the pictures is wearing black shoes, but I feel like the black doesn't fit in at all, and that the shoes she's wearing are too plain.

a white blouse is a bad idea because random parts will show through. if you really want to use a blouse, use black.

the tights.. polkadots give off a playful feel while the dress does not. thematically, those two items do not match.

Your coord tastes seem to be a little sweeter than the dress itself. If you decide to carry on with those shoes, make sure to use more bows in the coord. If you use a black bonnet, but a gold bow inside. If you use a headbow, try to keep it not so sweet, more mature or flat.

I like the dress. I agree that you should get something that would be usable in your ideal wardrobe later (aka classic>>>ivory, sweet>>>pink) but honestly as a noob, your taste will probably change as you wear and see different things.
I think the coord looks good. I'd use pink otks to tie that shit together in the matchy-matchiest way possible. Or you can use ivory legwear with an ivory bag to introduce some more colors in. I think those are pearls on the collar of the OP, and you can't go wrong with pearl jewelry, especially in a classic style like that. You could also use pink wristcuffs, but it seems a little sweet for a style like that.

Just won one of my dream dresses so now I need some coord help. I'm still fairly new to the fashion so any advice is appreciated!

I wanted to use black and gold but was kind of struggling to find more classic style gold shoes and bags so this was the best I came up with (I'm not a big fan of tea parties so definitely want to avoid them). I did find some cute pairs of gold t-straps I liked but they were either completely sold out or not in my size (40 EU). I like the idea of the blouse having gold trim but I'm not sure about it in practice. Underskirt because I'm 5'7". Pretty stuck for my heads and legs - have no real ideas for the headwear and for tights I was just thinking black and gold again, maybe star print if I can find a nice pair?

I bought that in Primark years back for the exact same reason. It's not all that full in the skirt but my plan was always to add some white lace to the bottom and top and to cut the 'boob flaps' off. Please share if you ever do a coord with it.

I'm building my very first coord for a Halloween meet that's happening next month. I'd appreciate some opinions! I'm not using the hat, broom, or tulle from the picture, they are just there to give the feel of what I'm aiming for.

Also, I'm tying hearts into this coord because there are tiny hearts on the jsk, they are just hard to see in that photo.

>> No.8614938

>>8614913
Hi Anon! May I recommend something something other than beads and tulle on the hat? If you're going to use a broom like the one in your picture, you could tie a ribbon around the end and accessorise your hat with a similar colour in larger items. I wouldn't bother about tying in the hearts from the JSK for halloween unless you want to sort of go with a 'bleeding heart' coord rather than a witchy one (in which case red/black/white is the way to go).

As for blouses, neither. They are both off white and your dress is white. Princess sleeves will definitely compliment a witch coord more, though.

Necklaces? None because of the bow on the front of the JSK. Go with a choker instead.

Just got this skirt in the mail and I totally love it. The issue is that I'm not really sure how to coord it to take advantage of the crown/royal motif. I want to make a nice sized crown that has the same look as the ones in the print, but as far as what kind of blouse and what colours to pair with this I'm a little stuck. It's hard to tell, but I think it is technically black (it looks a little bluer in person, but still looks good with other cool blacks)

The shirt actually looks really nice underneath. It's chiffon and not bulky at all. The only thing you can see are the sleeves, which I need unfortunately.

>>8609757
The shirt is black actually, I wrote it on the pic but that is easy to miss. You don't think that dress is sweet though? Idk, maybe it is because I own it and can see it in person, but this dress seems really sweet to me! Thanks for the input.

Really though, does no one have ANY advice for accessories for a Halloween coord? I am thinking of just going with a plain witch hat at this rate because I am sadly running out of time. But I honestly don't know what to do for jewelry and things like that.

Hello again gulls! I posted a bodyline skirt awhile back ago and someone was kind enough to make this really lovely coord. I wanted to steer it into a more Halloween direction though (I have this idea of something similar to the Madoka witches (The skirt really reminds me of Gertrud) or playing up the clusterfuck print).

I currently own the lace blouse and those horns on the far right. Do you guys think the horns look out of place? What would help play up a witchy or demony theme to this? Anything is up for changes.

I would also suggest wearing a solid pair of white tights or OTK socks under the socks you have on. I'm also a black lolita, and have found that our skin tone makes the colors on white legwear less vibrant and look more dull because our color shows through the white. Wearing another set of solid white legwear under it helps to keep the white bright and the colors vibrant.

Thinking about buying these boots from someone in my local sales group to match Mozarabic Chant? But Im not entirely sure they will actually match? The stock pic shows them to be super red which obviously wont work but the other seems like it would?

Do you think it will work? I mean, I just bought another pair thinking it would be relatively the same red and its COMPLETELY different, so I am not entirely sure this will work out. The dress is quite a bit more brown/ red in person than how it looks in the stock photo.. so its really hard to tell without seeing the shoes in person too..

I know that navy/black is accepted in most coords, but I want to run this one by you guys. (please note the colours, I can't create a collage)

So I'm thinking black or navy shoes but the yellow blouse is putting me off. Would a black necklace/choker help to balance it even more? I also have a few black blouses if you think that it would look better. I just love yellowxnavy

Hello gulls. Im trying really hard to coord the tricky nightmare factory skirt in purple but im getting a little stuck. Im going for a halloween witch-esque coord without being too ott witch. Thing about this colorway that I am finding hard is that brown is the main accent color to the purple and there is no black on the print. With that it excludes so many black blouses and accessories I would use to make this more halloween ish. Found this meta blouse but I am worried about the purples clashing.

Also would do a brown blouse and then purple hat but I am having a hard time finding a brown blouse with princess sleeves....any suggestions???

Concrit welcome! Hope I am kinda on the right track with this colorway!

If you go with those shoes, get a brown blouse. If not, get an orange or warm brown pair of shoes. It's not going to work with what you have as is and I don't particularly find the bag fitting at all.

Also if those are two necklaces, just go with the long one. The one with all the halloween candy looks tacky and inelegant.

Here's the coord done with a brown blouse and a different color hat. I thought the bag could work since i thought it would be seen more so as a "witch spellbook" in this coord. Its just so hard to find Halloween related bags that are either brown or purple....any suggestions??

Also the halloween candy jewellery is actually a charm bracelet, not a necklace. I figured I would try to pull in some of the candy elements in the print since it is a candy factory...any other suggestions for jewellery?? I would like something candy related to go with the print.

Get a witch hat and add gold ribbons to it, maybe with a bow. I actually love the gold polkadots with that dress (it reads as really sweet to me too) and I think sweet/cute witch coords are adorable. Maybe pick up a broomstick and add in some gold ribbon to that? Add a veil or some tulle to the hat maybe, I can't find it but there's a pic of Misako in a cute witch coord with a hat & veil that's pretty famous.

Otherwise, accessories like jewelry I'm having a hard time finding right now but you could search around on ali for witchy jewelry, like a silver pentacle or something? Or check around at normalfag stores since they usually have halloween stuff. Good luck with the finished coord, anon.

>>8617362
Out of whaty ou have I'd say the left or middle headpiece, either pair of earrings (both are fucking adorable btw), the dress on the right with the bird tights, silver accessories & silver shoes.

Also consider searching on lolibrary for dresses tagged with birds to see if there are other prints out there you like more.

The horns are okay for a demon theme but since I haven't seen them in person it worries me that they might look a little cheap. Is that braided wig what you're planning for hair? It's pretty adorable. One thing to be aware of is that the earrings are more rose gold while the other two accessories you have picked are more antique gold. I don't know if it really matters though since both colors are in that skirt. I can see the Madoka theme you want to work with in here already (I think it's the boots).

They look pretty decent in person, I wouldn't say cheap but simple. But the horns are a bit of an afterthought if I couldn't translate the witch idea. The braided wig is an idea I'd really love to execute (I've never done a hairstyle that complex though, and I'll need to purchase a wig as my natural hair is short.)

The skirt in person is more copper and rose gold than antique gold if that helps, but it really has a lot of different colors in it.

How do the tights look? Should I stick with the lace ones or go for something more like Abilletage tights? I feel like if I go for that type of witchy theme I need to break up the black more/ make it more busy.

I already ordered the socks, need to pay for the dress and bonnet. I'm not sure if I'm going to use the bonnet for this coord, I bought it since I absolutely love bonnets. Though, if it doesn't match the coord I will go for a white x pink headdress.
However, my main problem is the shoes. I can't find pink AP shoes in my size (I'm not sure about their sizing too, I don't want to end up with the wrong shoe size), so I'm thinking of ordering from Bodyline.
