So the cooler weather is fast approaching. Can we have a cooler weather jfash thread? Advice on what staples are best for cool weather? When is cold too cold for fashion? What fashions do you think work best?

This has been the first year wearing lolita casually and I'd like to continue into the winter, but living in Canada, I'm not sure what I need.

Used to live up north. Really when it grts that cold you get good at layering lolita alredy has so many layers irs easy to warm it up. Wear a nice thick pair of tights a warm thermal undershirt, bloomers (thick fuzzie ones even) your OTKs and a thick blouse (or long sleeved OP). Pick a dress with a heavier material go for knee high boots a fuzzy hat and Mittens

Still cold?
Add a 2nd pair of tights into that mix (or fuzzie tights a friend of mine has those) and fuzzie socks over yoru OTKs inside your boots (if they fit.) Cardigans can be added under the jacket get a jacket with the capes so its pike double layers over your arms. Thin gloves or mittens inside big fluffy ones. Wig under your hat. And earmuffs.

But now i live in the south and a crave it being cool enough ro wear long sleeves or even normal lolita and be able to have meet ups again.... Soon (not really won't get coolish till at least October)

Depends on how long you're out. I live in NYC too, and I own several coats that work well. Don't hesitate to drop a couple thousand on a good, long coat because it'll last and keep you warm without the puffer look.

Are there any brand coats that would actually hold up in a northern winter (-10C or colder)? Even an offbrand coat from taobao or aliexpress would be nice.

I'm Finnish and I'm considering selling my F+F coat because I had absolutely no use of it last winter. And I wear lolita regularly. I use quite thin jackets and still manage. Only part that tend to get cold are my legs but boots would probably help. Fleece lined thights, cute woolen socks and cardigans are my best friends. I also make sure to cover my throat properly and if it's get super cold ear muffs, mittens (not gloves) and long scarf are super helpful. Idk, maybe I have just gotten used to cold weather..

Same here, anon. I just stick to my full length puffer coat and squish my coords under it; it's not worth freezing for cute outerwear. I do try to wear cute knit gloves and scarves instead though and fleece lined tights and flannel bloomers are a godsend.

Just wear stockings with plush for on the inside, it is cold as fuck where I life and since I discovered those I can finally wear cute shit even in the worst snowstorm. You can find them searching 加絨加厚假高筒連褲襪 on Taobao and in the worst case layer two pairs.

I'm in the "too cold to wear Lolita in winter" club, but I have IBS so layering so many layers is a no go for me. For everyone else though Lolita does lend itself perfectly to winter with all the layering.

I would like a Lolita coat so if there's a warmer winter day or a day where I have a party or something to go to and I'd like to wear Lolita I can. I can't really justify the price of a Lolita coat though when I already have to try finding a normal winter coat that's sutable for our winters. The last few winters all the shops have been carrying these lightweight jackets instead of coats and they don't do anything, ugh.
