I'd rather have orientalist paintings as prints or arabesque patterns. Actual quotes from the Quran would make me a little uncomfortable - like, I wouldn't want to go around with something along the lines of "God is the only god and Mohammed is his prophet."

A girl from the USA clicked buy it now on my dress a few days ago and I sent an invoice and message as soon as I woke up, about an hour later. It's been a bit over 3 days now and I'm getting pretty annoyed as I would have shipped today and they haven't contacted me at any point, even before buying to ask for a shipping quote. I sent them an email reminder asking if they got it yesterday since lm was down but they haven't responded to that either. I know a lot of sellers have a 48 hour policy but since I forgot to add one I'll leave it a few more days... am I being reasonable? I think of it gets to a week I'll leave negative feedback and re-list. Sellers shouldn't have to chase up buyers to pay their invoices... I understand time zone differences/ that they might be busy but it's a bit much.

I might leave it later today if they haven't paid, then add a rule to my TOS. Somebody else could have bought it by now, ugh.

We already have angry Christians all the time, but they at least don't issue fatwahs at random people. God knows if you put your foot in the wrong corner of what they consider 'good representation' of Islam iconography, they might just do that.

Sorry to suddenly turn SJW but the only reason why they get angry is because Christianity is full of history of discrimination, mass murder, etc. and is still the biggest religion on earth bla bla bla whining Christianity is awful.

Plus a lot of other religions are prettier than Christianity in my opinion? Christianity is just too popular and isn't "pretty" by anyone anymore. Muslim prints would be really cool because it's not yet another Sistine Chapel/dying Jesus/etc print you know? You normally have to look up other religious art meanwhile Christian stuff is literally everywhere.

taobao and ebay, either one is fine, taobao you may have more of a selection? and also you may find more specific stores easily (like, lolita-oriented taobao shops selling wigs for that, rather than the random "fashion women harajuku kawaii girls" wigs on ebay)

although be careful and try to find reviews or ask people on here for their experiences because sometimes cheaper wigs can be a bit thinner. also remember that with taobao, you still have to factor in SS and domestic chinese shipping costs along with international shipping and, depending on where you live (if you're a eurofriend), customs fees. I guess it all boils down to what you're looking for exactly? I wouldn't go through the trouble of making a taobao order just for 1 or 2 wigs just because of what you pay in extra costs and fees in addition to the 10-15$ for the wig. I would only get them off taobao if I was buying a whole bunch, doing a group order, or making an order with some other stuff.

Clean and not-distressed jeans are good if he doesn't usually dress up. With a belt. Tuck in the shirt (you'd be surprised who doesn't do this) Obviously a button down shirt in black, white, or a subtle coordinating color (grey or maybe small stripes of sax or pink). Just button it to the 2nd to topmost, no tie or anything. Then I'd use shoes like pic related, in black if you're wearing black or brown with pastels. Or other generic dress shoes, they can be cheap at goodwill. Then you can add a fluffy cardigan in a matching color as the shoes if it's cooler.

Ask the organizer. The other comms on here don't seem to mind, but my comm has a rule that everyone attending must be in lolita/ouji/aristo, no exceptions for friends or families in normalwear, no matter how formal. So definitely clear it with the organizer of your tea party first, just in case your comm is like mine.

More important than clothes, if the boy doesn't want to come or doesn't want to socialise, don't bring him. If other lolitas at the tea party try to talk to him and experience a bad response, they will remember you badly as the girl who always drags an annoying guy to lolita events. It goes without saying, he should stay out of group photos and sort of stay in the background (it's a lolita meetup, and he's not wearing it after all).

As for the actual clothes, first, again, ask the organizer if there are rules. If not, then just make sure he's dressed neatly and appropriate to the event/venue (eg- formalwear only if that's what is normally worn to that restaurant/cafe, dress down if it's a casual event). He should be in the background anyway, so it shouldn't matter even if he's dressed in t-shirt and jeans.

I mean, if you just ask them if doing that is alright, really the worst they can say is no - you haven't placed an order yet, so it's not like they could blacklist you or something for not paying in a certain amount of time, and they aren't going to ridicule and make fun of you via email. just a simple "Hello, I was wondering what date you will stop accepting orders during this shopping period? I also would like to know how long do I have to pay after placing an order? I would like to place an order, but I do not get paid until Thursday. Am I allowed to place an order now and then pay the invoice on that day? Thanks."

Trust me, if you're worried about sounding stupid, I'm sure they've dealt with even dumber questions and ruder customers before. Just be sure to apologize and say thank you a lot if you want to seem nicer.

AATP usually release one but if Vampire Nocture was their Halloween print then you may have to wait until next year. I have been stalking both sales and auctions and have yet to find one pop up secondhand.

SakuraFairy on etsy has a listing for a custom witch hat that looks really nice and can be decorated by her to her liking.

The actual Antique Beast hats pop up secondhand pretty often and with Halloween coming up you may have luck getting one from somebody who only wanted it for the holiday. Of course if that's the only reason you wanted it, you're just kind of out of luck.

Basically. Alice and the Pirates has a "men's" line that has slightly broader shoulders and a less pronounced bust, and a few brands do different sizes (JetJ, Moitie, etc.), but for the most part, each brand will sell a dress as just one size.

Sizing varies from dress to dress and brand to brand. You also sometimes have brands that will release "Tall size" items with longer sleeves and torsos (IW, Meta).

Indie brands tend to offer more sizing variety, and sometimes do custom sizing. But the big Japanese brands, and even many Japanese indie brands, only do one size option for each garment.

The brand has a two-week shipping delay. She freaks out after a week because it hasn't shipped.

And then she says that she got a black moon bag when offered a black moon bag as a substitution.

Yeah, EvilLive didn't answer her, but if you look at her messages on their FB, it's all like "PM ME!" with no indication of why or what is wrong or what her question was.

So the seller assumed her issue was the shipping time since she was pestering them over and over to contact her without asking her actual question.

Your best bet would probably be early magazine scan translations and the original handbook. As far as I know the western/international lolita community doesn't have that much of a proper written history.

the cgl archive is probably a decent place to start with a little digging
going back through old EGL LJ posts
there are lots of scholarly writings and videos about lolita
also maybe those first translated lolita bibles? or the original GLBs if you know someone who reads japanese
deerstalker pictures does "lolita school" or something like that videos, i haven't watched them but maybe there's some info there
just a few ideas to start. I think a lot of "the history of lolita" is hearsay/rumors/myths. might be hard to find anything with a lot of fact behind it.

I would love some advice. Recently purchased an OP from AP that has puff-sleeves that close with buttons. I think all the other OP's I've had have elastic, so they fit. Everything on the OP is fine except that the sleeves are just a bit too tight.

I wanted to know if anyone has experience with this, and if anyone knows of a good way to alter them without fucking up the original design too much? The button can only move a tiny bit over so I'm not sure if that's an option.

>> No.8550229

Lose weight or get the sleeves professionally altered. I'm assuming that the cuff is just a rectangle of fabric with maybe some minimal lace trim on it, so it shouldn't be too difficult to get it replaced, especially if it's only a little bit too tight.

Temporary option: find ribbon that matches the dress trims. Tie the ribbon around the button about halfway down the ribbon. Loop one end through buttonhole. Adjust until the right "size", then tie a nice, tidy bow that disguises both button and buttonhole. Make sure you heat seal the ribbon ends (for poly ribbon) or sew them over beforehand.

I need some advice.

A girl sent me a message asking to buy something from me, if I'd be willing to do a hold until the end of the month. I said I'd do it with a deposit, but she told me she had literally no cash to spare, so I was like fair enough, if you've got feedback to back up a no-deposit hold I'll consider it. However, she's posting urgent WTBs for another item that are showing up on my feed because we're members of the FB sales pages. I don't want to just say "sorry no, I won't do a hold if you're lying to avoid putting down a deposit" because that's super presumptuous but at the same time I don't wanna hold an item only for her to back out at the last minute. wat do?
